It was broadcast in 1985, shortly before a rerun of Threads as that time was close to the 40th Anniversary of the Hiroshima Bombings so that might of contribute to the BBC changing their attitude. I totally agree. This whole thing feels like a 'did you know?' channel with yet another blown-up Reddit thread shoved into a single video. Also the fact that they're imaging 'autistic' as someone who's crazy/retarded. The whole video is childish and blatantly spamming (even outdated and debunked) 'facts' or western propaganda without mentioning sources, or trying to stay neutral about the information they're providing as entertainment. What people (and this channel) don't get about independent documentaries that even though they're coming from a single source; that doesn't mean the studio and/or person behind the camera isn't biased, secretly funded or spreading some kind of political message. I can agree that the Soviet people have suffered a lot in the development of their socialistic system. But calling the famine a tool to oppress said people is a crazy lie. As if Stalin himself came Ukraïne with a comically large spoon to eat all the grain in front of the starving children. The famine was a man-made one and partly due to the collectivization and unrealistic production-quotas the five-year plan brought forward. But it was also a result two droughts and Kulaks setting their own means of production on fire while keeping away grain to sell illegally, and not complying with orders because they obviously wanted the whole state-owned farm thing to fail. I recommend watching Hakim's video's for people unaware of some western lies about the horrible events that happened in China and the Soviet-Union. Because the information that this and many video provides about it is too black and white. Also please look up the telegram story between Sholokhov and Stalin. Even though the Union partly caused the famine doesn't mean that they wished for it to happen.

Soviet Story is a famous form of Holocaust denial that Baltic states love to do called "Double Genocide" which was the Soviets were somehow worse than the Nazis, and Soviet victims are equivilent to the Holocaust if not worse. This is because the Baltics were pro-Nazi, vociferous holocaust purpetrators so have always tried to whitewash that aspect and present the purpetrators of Nazi crimes, as actually victims of Soviet repression and national heroes. Hence the balts (and modern Ukraine) love building monuments to the Nazis and parading around geriatric waffen SS terrorists as "anti Soviet heroes"/"forest brothers". Its probably the most mainstream and common form if Holocaust denial because it larps as "Anticommunism" when its main goal is to whitewash the role Baltic states played in Nazi crimes, genocide and atrocities.

Hey @TheAnalystYt - this is a great piece of media. Having watched "threads", I've absolutely no desire to watch "the war game" or any of the other films here depicted - thanks to sating my curiosity whilst preserving my sanity. I would like to, however, object to the cartoon used to depict autism. ASD is probably broader than most would even attempt to depict in a single image, even inside the community there is hesitation to even use the infinity symbol or what colour it should be etc (though we all agree, nobody should use the puzzle piece). The video is done now, and there's over a thousand comments here, so the likelihood of you seeing this on a video this old are slim to none - but I would ask you to consider the human when depicting a condition that doesn't have "typical" expression, and how your depiction might shape public opinion if your viewers assumed that it was a true representation of a wide group of people. I'm a software engineer, my industry is full of people in the neurominority, they are passionate, talented and incredibly intelligent people - not at all the picture of the confused and dazed caricature you have shown. I find this to be offensive - which I don't put on you as a burden, clearly offense is not the intention, I just wanted to let you know that this is how I, an autistic person, felt about your depiction of me, my friends, my colleagues, and all other people that share this (not puzzle) piece of me. I urge you to reconsider in the future. Thank you for your consideration.

I'm sorry I don't have much to add, but I'd like to say that I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm also Autistic, I don't always like the way we are portrayed in media, but I do understand that it's not that obvious who is or isn't Autistic, so getting someone who "shows" their Autism is the easier way to "give us the spotlight" so to speak. You've written up a comment that expresses the feelings of myself, and also many other Autistic people. I'm gonna info dump a little bit, and it's not really related, but given your really well written comment, I wanted to write SOMETHING in return. Don't mind me. Look, I don't personally get offended by things like this (it does bother me, but I don't allow myself to get caught up in it), it's hard for me to explain without coming across as insensitive to my fellow Autistic people, but to put it simply... I don't always relate to their issues, at least to the extent that they feel, if this makes sense. Sometimes I even think, "Am I even Autistic, I can't relate to that at all...?". But then I put socks on that a bit too wet, and I'm like, "GET THESE OFF OF ME.". So I certainly am Autistic, haha. Just because I don't always relate on the same level, it doesn't mean I don't relate a little bit. It's a spectrum, we're all different. I'm lucky enough to "fit in" for the most part, a lot of people even say "I had no idea you were Autistic!", which... Well, it's a good thing sometimes, I guess I mask it well, or maybe it really isn't that obvious to others. But at the same time, people can't SEE Autism, and it's not always obvious at first glance. Let me just say one thing in addition to the above... I ABSOLUTELY and STRONGLY believe in equality, respect and compassion. God knows the world needs more of these things. People could learn a thing or two from people on the spectrum, eh? To be honest, I don't know why I'm telling you all of this, feel free to disregard it. Lately, I've thought about the way I "fit in", and I've been trying to figure out what Autistic traits I have, etc. Despite having a diagnosis for 20 years, I haven't really given it much thought. Now that I work with people with disabilities, and have many friends with disabilities, I've been thinking about it more. I guess I'm having some kind of identity crisis, given how I think about where I want to be in life, gaining more independence, and just... living. You seem like a good person, that's why I've written up this essay. Apologies for the info dump, I'm very prone to that, I WONDER WHY, HMM... But yeah, thank you for such a great comment!

As the video admits though, it was never banned in the US. It was largely debunked and everyone forgot about it. Moore made several "documentaries" and was once hailed for reinvigorating the genre by making them very entertaining. But to do so, mixed in a bunch of nonsense. Others have copied his gimmick. Those too were later found to be garbage. Such as "Supersize Me". Not until well after the filmmakers made their money.
