My favorite biome was the lave biome in the first Subnautica. It was much more intense than the crystal biome in Below Zero.
@napalm39803 жыл бұрын
Everything in the first subnautica was more intense. It feels like this one is just more involved with a bigger back story than the first one and having AL-AN is pretty entertaining as well. I wish he was a little more snarky as you explore tho. "Excuse me primitive life form but that creature is dangerous, I would advise against close encounters" as you get smacked around by a squid shark
@mickys80653 жыл бұрын
@@napalm3980 the main issue with below zero is the lack of urgency. Robin drops onto the planet to find out what happens to her sister, then very quickly goes "ehh, alien body time". Like, you don't need to even explore Sam's death before beating the game. Compared to subnautica 1 where you have to explore the aurora, you kind of have to figure out where the precursor bases are. Because you are the only one amongst what is basically an invisible planet wide graveyard, it makes sense why everything is just left around, but in below zero it doesn't make sense why PDAs are literally everywhere given alterra had plenty of time to look for any evidence, such as a PDA of somebody admitting to doing a crime...

i am not 100% sure about the abyss biome but as far as i can tell it isn't planned to be implemented and if it is it will probably just be the deadzone from subnautica but with a new coat of paint.(edges of the map) . the ice dragon is still listed as cut content on the favro so they probably will not be adding it, especially since they have their hands full with the new storyline but theres technically a small chance it will be brought back small as it may be.

300 hours is an age in this small game. Did 26hrs after full release and have completed it, scanned everything, raised all the eggs, seen all the map, built all the buildables. Kinda done with now. It was like PG rated Subnautica Lite. Crying out for more threat this game, the giant prawns were a bit durpy and essentially harmless after you've acquired the electric shock upgrade and the only other real threat is locked in the deep biomo with little to no reason to visit as you hardly need any kyanite which is the only thing down there once you've built the alien body. Hoping they redo this new ending and add the ice dragon that was cut out, it's crying out for more content, it's closer to an expansion than a standalone game.
@JuniBee3 жыл бұрын
I believe below zero was initially meant to be dlc but it was less work to go from the ground up than to attempt to adabt the original engine to fit the game. So thats why it feels closer to expansion than a full game. I do however personally like below zeros map more. I liked my experience with og subnautica more, and the progression is deffinately far better but below zeros environments feel a bit more “realistic” if that makes sense. Theyre smaller but packed with more details I could be wrong about that but i vaguely remember the devs saying something like that when the game was first announced.

The most obvious parallel i can think of would be something like the forest or 7 days to die. Those don’t have an environment based gimmicks but are horror-ish survival games. Raft is an interesting water based survival game to check out. But for me, its gunna seem like an odd choice but firewatch gave me the same vibes as subnautica. Its not a survival game at all but its that same feeling of pushing deeper and deeper into something you don’t quite understand.

Yes all three are concept images with the one on the right in particular being for a biome which was initially slated to be in the game and was adapted to be something else. Spoilers below so be warned: . . . . . It later became the frozen leviathan cave. So where it was initially meant to be underwater with many different creatures frozen in the glacier it just became one giant creature frozen in there.

@@JuniBee thank you, I spent too much time looking in the deep arctic trying to find that biome. Now I know to stop, lol.

@@BrutalSkorpio yea i think the sparse arctic was also supposed to have stuff frozen into the glaciers but that never ended up happening either. Wonder why, could have made for a much cooler biome since it is a tad boring and the brine-cicles could have made for a cool bit of lore connection for them as well

The pda announcer is so bad in below zero

I wouldnt say the new voice is “bad” only that the original was so iconic and it was jarring for it to have changed. Ive played through twice now and im still not used to it

@@rrazelp833 yea, no clue what platform youre on but if youre on PC im sure a mod will wind up coming out shortly to patch in the old voice. They had most of the lines already since it didnt switch over until pretty late into the pre release so it shouldn’t be that hard once mod implementation becomes a thing.
