It was the late 1960’s growing up in a small four room house in Hyde Park Cincinnati, Ohio. I was the youngest of three brothers and the one who grew up at a rare time in the music industry. One block from where I grew up an old church was converted into the Hyde Park-Mt. Lookout Teen Center and managed by Tarbell. During my time growing up there I saw the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull, Traffic, Vanilla Fudge and of Course The Police (Sting). This was an intimate way of being part of the birth of the age of Rock-N-Roll as the venue only allowed two hundred people. For me, it was a teen center first where the local musicians, me included, gathered to play with friends. Later many of those friends went on to become part of some of the most famous Rock Bands of that time. Listening to you and your brother play that song brought all those memories flooding back to me about the times, the people, the experience of being that close to something that seemed normal to me but was in fact extraordinary. I remember when The Police played there, and that song was sung and listening to both of you brought me back to memories of what music was meant to be, a place where people from all walks of life could come together, listen, and become part of a song. Let the words and notes carry us all to special places where the truths of compassion, kindness, and community live and our lives become whole. There is no comprehensive list of everyone that played there, for all of us living it, it was commonplace, it was music, it was song, it was a safe place to gather and let the music carry us away. Thank you for bringing the world some remembrance of what it was like for us who grew up as part of it. Thank you both for the memories of those special moments and days. May your journey through music give you both the same memories when life finds you taking a journey through time back to those special places.

This cover of the song is so good that I almost feel bad for sharing this, but... If the perspective of this song is that it's being sung from the viewpoint of a forlorn lover, then the implication is that the person it's being sung about *left them,* and they miss their former romance. Which is a lovely sentiment, until the lyrics like "Don't you see, you belong *to* me" or "I'll be watching you," which start to sound a little stalker-y. It might not be the intended meaning of the song, but there sure is an interpretation of it that swerves into the crazy ex lane.
