I don't understand why it was sad. He stood there and took it like a man and handled it like a professional. There is nothing sad about a man that can maintain his composure in the face of adversity. Sad is an insecure man physically assaulting a comedian over a joke (tasteless as it may have been) knowing there was little to no chance anything would happen to him as a result. Not only is he insecure, he's a coward. His wife managed to make him look like a fool yet again. Now, that's sad.

Doesn't matter what it was ... you don't get to slap someone .... that's a physical attack..Ricky Gervais nailed it
@MelodicTurtleMetal
@MelodicTurtleMetal 2 жыл бұрын
That's bullshit. An attack doesn't have to physical to be harmful. Will Smith obviously felt in some way hurt by a joke at a specific loved one - the slap caused no harm, nothing more than a shock - just like the joke. Equally abusive. A closed fist punch would be a very different story. Being a comedian doesn't allow you to be a bully. People claiming it was 100% unprovoked are dismissing emotional abuse. With all that being said, he definitely overreacted. But the joke was offensive to him, and at the expense of his wife. The slap was never supposed to, it going to, cause physical harm. Equal play

Smith knew he was going to receive that Oscar and had he's script memorised for how he was gonna deal with any free talking comedian who dared to mock him or he's Hollywood brethren and sistren on he's big moment . It was independence day for will and it wasn't jade and her crew cut he came to save it was Hollywood elite from the baddies . Will was defending hollywood like hes life depended on it . What a pr*ck

Will Smith should have been charged with assault despite Chris Rock not filing the motion. The police and any court can clearly see that it was an assault and should be handled as such. That a victim decides not to press charges in some cases should not be relevant. Some victims are scared to file charges for various reasons. Chris Rock would know that if he had filed assault charges it could seriously damage or hinder his future success. I believe Will Smith was counting on this.

You are correct that Smith committed a crime against the State of California, not Chris Rock. Usually they would not be successful without the victim pressing charges/testifying but in this case, it’s recorded and witnessed by millions. If Chris wants to forgive Smith, (the same as the Pope John Paul Ii forgiving the person who attempted his assassination, but was still prosecuted and sentenced) that’s admirable but Smith still committed a crime and should be prosecuted.

Rogan says we shouldn't put celebrities on such a high pedestal, because they won't understand that their actions incur consequences. Then in the same breath, he calls the incident "a learning moment for the world." And that's the very reason celebrities can never truly get it. When the average man's consequence for such action is a police beatdown and some jail time, followed by the loss of his job, while you get an academy award, and your mistake becomes a "learning moment for the whole world," you'll never be one of us. Everyone's reactions will always reinforce your understanding that you're something different.

I have beat cancer, heart surgeries, 31 plus broken bones, stabbed, shot, broken back, more major surgeries than I can count, and more than I could say, But the one thing that has helped among other things has been humor, lots of humor, jokes about everything, comedy and comedians can take the power away from a disease by joking about it and they take hurt away by joking about it , jokes have away of allowing you to take back what is been taken from you when you can laugh about a terrible situation it gives you an inner strength something to build on. I support all comedians and their comedy, whether I laugh or not, Comedy is too important. And I will add , if my brother Lenny who suffered with stage 4 cancer for 12 yrs in experimental trials and chemotherapy over 30 times and dozens of surgeries and procedures , if he was still alive he would be writing the same thing I am .
