7:10 This is ground temperature, not air temperature. Asphalt, rocks, dark soil etc. absorbs more energy from sun making the ground hotter than the air. The hottest air temperature in Spain was 47.6 °C (117.7 °F), while the European record is from Italy: 48.8 °C (119.8 °F), both from two years ago. Ground temperatures may be up 50 °C hotter than the air temperature, which is usually measured at 1.25 - 2.00 metres in shade. Also at 100% humidity 35 °C is the maximum that human body can survive (long term), while at 0% humidity humans can survive 70 °C long term. So the temperature records don't tell much if we don't know what humidity was then.

That, or similar Maps, have been widely shared and used in Media. There Media Reports also uncluded Forecasts. These actually may (depending on the nesws report) have been air-temperature forecasts though. The Italian Weather Station in Donori rose to 47.7C and Dolianova to 47.6C on July 19th. Figueres (Catalonia) reached 45.3°C, making it a new Record for the Region. Mallorca rose to 44.9°C in Llubí (Private Network) or 43.9°C in Sa Pobla (National Weather Service), maybe breaking the Islands Record. 2 more Days of extreme Heat are expected in Italy, with air temperature possibly rising to 48°C on Monday.

As a Swede, I am the resident authority on islands. We have more islands than any other country, by far. We also have a number of words to distinguish them by size: "Ö" (yes, it's a one-letter word): An island of substantial size. The big islands in the Baltic sea, Öland, Gotland, are both an "ö" Next in line is "holme". It is smaller than an island, but not so large that you couldn't walk or row around it in a single day. For example, the islands that make up Stockholm, some are described as "holme" (Stadsholmen (old town), Riddarholmen, Kungsholmen, Långholmen, Reimers holme, Drottningholm) whereas some of them are described as an "ö" (Värmdö, Lidingö, Ekerö). Even smaller than a "holme" is a "kobbe". This is an island that is more than a rock, it can have some trees and sparse vegetation on it, but you could not sustain any form of agriculture. You could at most fit a few small houses on it and it would be very exposed to the weather. Smaller than a "kobbe" is a "skär". This is often no more than a few rocks out of the water. They can be roughly the same size as the "kobbe" but generally very low. A "skär" can sometimes have a lighthouse on it, there would be no trees, at the most some low vegetation. Even smaller than this would only be called a "sten" or "grund" (literary "rock") it is just a bit of bedrock coming out of the water. It will get overflushed by waves, so there will be no soil for any vegetation to grow there. If you zoom in on Stockholm on Google earth, you can see the archipelago stretching out to the east, north and south of the city. It is said that there are about 30 000 islands in the Stockholm archipelago, but at some point it gets impossible to count them because some of them are so small it is almost impossible to decide what still can be counted as an island. A lot of people have vacation homes in the archipelago. Some islands have hundreds of houses on them, some just a few dozen and some small islands are in fact entirely owned by one person. If you have a dream of owning an island, Sweden or Finland is where you'd probably have the biggest chance to to so. Islands are not cheap by any means, but it is obtainable is without having to be a billionaire. Of course, the further you go from the big cities, the cheaper the realestate. Thankfully, a substantial part of the Stockholm archipelago is owned by a trust that maintains them as an open recreational area that anyone can visit for free with their own boat or kayak, or take tours.

European countries on the Mediterrean typically don't really like the. I mean, fish is part of our cousine, but until the XIX century (yes, the 1800s) the sea was still crumbled of berber pirates. And the most populated part of Italy is the Padana plan in the north, far from the sea and where a ton of pigs live and are transformed into salami, prosciutti and other delicious things
@Clemehl
@Clemehl Жыл бұрын
Probably, but today seems to be different. Fish and Seafood are somewhat common around the Mediterranean. It isn't only salmon or cod, but also oyster, mussels and crabs. From the chart I could see, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal eat 30, 33, 42 and 57 kg of seafood per capita per year. The rest of Europe of mainland Europe is around 5 to 15 kg (only scandinavia, benelux and baltic are into fishes) So how does France, with 33 kg, ends up being painted blue while Spain with 42 kg is more into pork? Well, I didn't find a map with real value but only brackets. France is within the 30-40 kg bracket for Pork (so 32 kg max) and Spain is in >40 bracket (so 43+ kg) So here the value I could extract for Cattle, Pork, Poultry and Fish&Seafood: - Italy: 20+, 40+, 21-24 and 20-30 (30) → Pork wins (lot of dry sausage meat in their cuisine?) - France: 20+, 30-40, 21-24 and 30-40 (33) → Fish wins, somehow (guess they have a very balanced diet?) - Spain: 10-15, 40+, 24+, and 40+ (42) → Pork wins (lot of dry sausage meat in their cuisine too?). - Portugal: 15-20, 40+, 24+, 40+ (57) → Fish wins, as expected. So even if Spain eats more Fish than France, Spain eats even more Pork while France has a way more balanced diet making Fish somehow the most common "meat".

That thing that said Target is in Canada was lying, Target Canada started back in 2013 when they bought all the old Zellers stores, and they went bankrupt in 2015. They have never been back since. I had one down the street, and every time I went the shelves were all like 75 percent empty. They just couldn't get their supply chain running to Canada properly for some reason, even though every store that existed was only a few hundred miles from the US border, since that's where 99 percent of Canadians live. Also, generations are weird. My mom is technically Gen X, but she is way more of a boomer than a Gen x. She was born in early 1965 though, so its right on the borderline in between both generations

Not really, there are rarely concrete dates for generations, especially on a worldwide scale. For example in Germany we have the so called post-war generation, that was between WW2 and boomers, for around a decade or so. They were very different to the boomer generation. Also, here Gen Y/Millenials starts a bit later and ends much later, early 2000s. In other parts of the world there literally is no GenY that is significantly different from GenX, for example.

Actually, the closer you are to the equator, the more "correct" the projection is, and as you go further away, the area gets proportionally stretched both horizontally and vertically. It's quite interesting actually how well this projection works, the more you zoom in, the less distorted it seems - with the exception of the poles where a single point has been stretched "infinitely" to the length of the equator.

Going to American supermarkets it’s a whole experience for tourists, it’s quite literally a tourist attraction lol. In Argentina supermarkets suck because importation is almost nonexistent, so when people visit the US it’s inevitable to spend hours in their supermarkets and shopping malls. The typical vacation to the US is a trip to Disney World and Universal, and a shopping spree in Miami, which includes not only shopping malls but also Walmart, Target, Best Buy (and of course a stop in the Apple Store before going back lol)

I am not very much a seafood person, but you can't really escape seafood in Hong Kong, it's everywhere, there's almost no restaurant that doesn't serve any kind of fish or clams, and even if you don't eat seafood directly, it's in the broth, and Cantonese sauces relies heavily on broth.

(8:45) Note that those generations apply to USA, since it's based on events in USA. Sure some events was due to global events, but the definitions are based on how it went down in USA regardless. Well millenials is based on the calendar which is a more global thing. But check the events at the bottom, "great depression", "Koeran war", "Vietnam war", ... which were many countries working together, but the main factor was still USA. Later generations are ranges of 15. We could try to make a new definition of these generations by having hard definitions of 15 years or any other number, and then try to find global events that better describe these generations.

TBH as a Czech I dont agree. We were part of Germany and Austria in the past. We have a lot of common with them speaking in culture. While Slovakia was part of Hungary (that is why everyone call them Upper Hungary). We have no culture simularities (except wiping women on Easter), we only have simular languages plus we like to steel Slovak food.

The reason that here on Argentina we eat so much meat is because the cattle population is higher than the human population, so we have to do that in case they try to take us out while we sleep In all seriousness, the real reason is for our own culture, before the country was "fenced", cows ran free and were wild, so the gauchos would hunt them down with their "boleadoras" and spears (to cut their nerves if I'm not wrong) and after that they would butcher it and cook the meat on the grill, this was something done on a daily basis until we started exporting the meat

Target lost $5.4B in its failed expansion to Canada. All stores closed in 2015. As far as the most consumed meat type is concerned, the map doesn't account for regional differences. Just to cite an example, costal Chinese provinces from the south and southeast eat a lot of seafood. Inland provinces tend to eat more pork, poultry and lamb.

As a Nepalese, I'd like to clarify that bovine meat is not the most consumed in Nepal. Majority of the population is Hindu so Cows are off the table. While some ethnic groups do eat buffalo meat, a majority of the country doesn't. Our old name 'Gorkha' literally means the protectors of cows and cows are our national animal. I don't know how we ended up a bovine consumer 😂😂
