that ireland 1994 away pick was such a belter, one of my favourite away kits... maybe period? such a fantastic kit i love it, btw the "boops" on the sleeve is the irish flag either side 😅

Italy's former royal house colour was blue, that's why they wear blue. Ireland's was blue too until the 1850s. The UK's royal house colour is purple, although lots of nations wear white to "symbolise purity" from what stems from very racist reasons.

The reason why purple and to a lesser extent blue is such a prominent colour in royal houses comes from historical sources going back to at least the Romans, possibly even further back, the colour is known by a few names, Royal Blue, Justinian Blue/Purple and Tyrian Blue. Because the colour was derived from a marine snail from the Levant, basically modern-day Lebanon, it was very expensive and was the colour that royal families adopted. I know you didn't ask for a background, but just thought I'd throw that in there.

Technically the 'lions' are actually leopards! In Medieval heraldry (and this includes the lions on the England team shirt) lions that are lying down are called leopards, and ones rearing or rampant are called lions. This was because medieval heraldry didn't know that lions and leopards were different and used the terms to differentiate between the images in heraldry.

I got some stick for wearing that Germany away shirt back in my school days. I feel exonerated because of this video. A weight has been lifted from me safe in the knowledge I was wearing Germany's best away kit of all time.

I am ABSOLUTE DISGRACED (not really, probably don't actually care that much) that you chose that DISASTER-PIECE Northern Ireland away kit as our BEST EVER away kit. I used to respect your opinion on these matters but that shirt is HONKING. We all realised very quickly that it looks more like something a Hospital Nurse wears. You could have picked: 1. 2014 Away with the deep green accents over the white. 2. 2008 Away, a throwback to the 1982 World Cup away shirt with subtle pinstrips. 3. 2006 Away - Dark/Navy blue. Very classy. 4. 1990 Away - Nearly every hipster/festival goer's first pick. Funcky retro template but in blue. P.S. I really enjoy your content. Keep up the good work.

How can that be Nigeria's away when their home is the exact same colours? (green and white). I'm not saying your wrong, I'm sure that is their away from that year, but what was the thinking behind it? As in, if they had come up against a team in Green and White, what kit do they wear? The home nope, the away nope. Weird.

Probably because they wouldn't come up against anyone with that shade of green. That green is unique to Nigeria.
