i really like the whole idea of gender in this book. this was the first book i read that considered non-binary/agender. for that it will hold a special place. but i didn't like the romance in this book really purely because of the insta love and the ending. in general it wasn't a bad romance i guess but i'm allowed to not be overly pleased with it.

I love this book. And I'm so fortunate to have met David Levithan, who is a great author and person.

I listened to the audiobook when I read this, and there was a woman as a narrator. That made it even harder to wrap your mind around no gender, but that's probably just because I'm a female and I know it. So yeah... I enjoyed this book, too.

Great review! I've watched other reviews for this book before and never heard the issue of gender be brought up, I've only come across people who call the main character by "he". Hearing you talk about that makes me more interested to pick it up.

I'm so glad I saw this review , just ordered the book yesterday in an online book haul and wasn't sure about David Levithan's writing until now :)

This book... I loved the idea, I loved the character of A. I was very displeased at the fact that we didn't delve deeper into A's power and what they could do with it. I understand that A had to run away because of the potential evil in what the priest dude was offering or whatever , BUT I REALLY WANTED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW THE POWER WORKED. AND WHO ELSE HAD THIS ABILITY. A DESERVES SOMEONE....NOT TO MENTION THE RELATIOnship - that I didn't feel strongly for anyways, but that's besides the point - DIDNT GET A HAPPY ENDING... but you know what, I loved the book because it made me feel something and that's all I can ask for from literature (thank you KZbin comment section for being the only place I can talk about books that none of my friends read)

IF I COULD LIKE YOUR COMMENT A HUNDRED TIMES I WOULD he basically never touches on who A really is and what they really are honestly, it made me feel like the writer didn't really know where to take the story

Great review. If you loved Every Day I think you would like Symptoms of Being Human. A similar discussion on gender is talked about within it.

I've read Another Day, the book told in Rhiannon's POV. Haven't got my hands on Every Day but I can't wait to see things from A's perspective.

I loved this book!! The whole thing is on that level of surrealism of those short stories you read in English class and it's wonderful

I was reading the end to my brother... my voice broke. I spotted the book at my schools library and I knew it was going to be amazing as soon as I saw it. I finished it in two hours. It was amazing.

So what happened when she/he/it/they were born??
@bryanwoods33736 жыл бұрын
They switched bodies. It's discussed in the book. A doesn't have real memories up until about age 5. A thought everyone switched bodies daily and was confused why people would make plans for tomorrow. (S)he would cry because the parents wouldn't be there tomorrow. Eventually, A just accepted that this was how life would be.

The movie looks like a typical teen romance. I got such a twilight vibe from the trailer of the film. I am so uninterested in the movie. I like the lead actress. The premise reminded me of the TV show Quantum Leap. I love that TV show but I hate tone I got from the movie trailer. I think I will skip this movie unless one of the critics I listen to says it is a good movie.

It's _everyday_ not "day by day" ? Oh... in my native language it's "zi dupa zi" (ro) ... I though ... thank you very much. I just read it. And was going to see if I can find a film... it is so wonderful. I really good concept for a film...

people call him 'he' cuz David isn't a good enough of a writer to portray A as neither girl or boy.

This book is absolutely incredible. A tale of love and freedom and sadness and determination like no other. Levithan really gives the reader a chance to see the world through completely unbiased eyes with the book and it is a work that really makes me think. I actually was inspired to make it a surprise book club read for my website for this month and I would love to have a lot of discussion about this awesome work.
