Man the battle was a missed opportunity to show pike and shot formations. The bears have spears and gun powder so it would fit in their lore. Long enough pikes could protect the arquebusiers from the unicorns charge attacks. Using volley fire, they could lay down almost continuous fire that would make up for the inaccuracy and slow rate of fire. Those generals really didn't want to win the war.
