My favorite Easter Egg is the one that we know why neku is egdy: adding what neku says in the death of rhyme "it's like that time" and what his says in Pork City (On Another Day) about how a friend of his died and he couldn't save him, we can deduce that this also happened in the normal timeline and for the trauma of seeing his friend die, Neku distances himself from people so as not to live the same.

I always think about this detail when I listen to runaway if it comes up in my playlist. This poor kid lost his best friend at a really young and impressionable age, the one person who could relate to him gone. So he shut his heart away from the world, afraid of new connections because the idea of him losing them at any sudden moment. Which happens to him three times in his game (Rhyme, Shiki, Joshua). My heart hurt so much for Neku but I’m so happy that he was able to still rise above that to become his best self and it really goes to show how much his life changed from being in the game and how strong his conviction had become.

Since you covered some music I’m gonna throw out that The Death March versions of songs are from Ishimoto’s real life band The Death March which took it’s inspiration from Def March in game. There’s a few other “unnamed” NPCs that get names on another day despite appearing in the main game, notably “Shrimp” Makoto’s boss obsessed with Reaper Creeper. There’s more that could be talked about if one wanted to get pedantic enough but those are the ones from the top of my head.

A little extra "easter egg" or trivia that we also learned with some characters like Sho having a sweet tooth. Neku may be a pill popper or as many have eluded that hes closed off and depressed cus he lost somone. He probably is heavily medicated. I dont pretend to know how Japans Healthcare works but when i would farm the bytes for stats. Everyone hates the pharmaceutical stuff but Neku likes them. So... make of that what you will.

Now my video is outdated One of my favorite references in the game is how the pins 276 to 279 were references to japanese gaming magazines on the japanese version of the game. Also the final fantasy callouts with the pins based on the series's summons Another interesting (and very minor) detail is how the material items (Scarletite, Rare metal, etc) are gifted to the player in the order the take on the pinlist, they number of gems on the pin's image also corresponds to their order

not entirely sure if these count but if you go into Mexican dog immediately after getting to Spain hill on week 1 day 5 you can encounter ai and mina and get some extra dialogue before you have to erase the noise from them outside oh and on another day in the room of reckoning when it's all red you can see a winged figure sitting in the composer's chair only on DS I believe and this one probably doesn't count because it can't normally be encountered but is kinda funny there's a section on the DS debug menu that'll take you to a pink screen with some scribbles on it and text that directly mentions the movie Soylent Green I'd assume it's only in the English version but I couldn't get debug menu in the japanese version no matter what I tried

About the lvl i flare, real numbers are not a multiple of i. Basically, when you add i to real numbers, you get complex numbers with a real part and an imaginary part. Only of the real part is 0 will the complex number be a multiple of i (as FF only allows integers as the multipliers to apply to get the target's lvl, and i is not an integer). However, since the action does not take place in the real world/RG, it can be assumed that players have a real part of 0 and are pure imaginary numbers. This could help explaining why Joshua was (somewhat) safe.
