No in all reallnes you should be able to at least double the length of the video, going for the same style, and with points of the same quality of badness. I noticed a ton of stuff that wasn‘t mentioned. There‘s tons of videos like this one (like the ones from MauLer) that mention alot of other important points.

Sam mentioning that Tyrion has not been mentioned in the book he's got 'A song of ice and fire' (echoing Varys' sentiment in earlier seasons) but it would be literally impossible to not include him. He was hand of the king, hand of the queen, acting hand of the king when Tywin was absent, he killed Tywin, was accused of regicide when Joffrey's killer was a mystery (and still is a mystery to most of the world probably), fought in several battles and also was younger brother to a queen and the kingslayer. Oh and most of the country knew who he was anyway because of his deformity.

Yeah, I think some character growth there makes sense, especially reuniting with a sibling that shared happier times in their lives (their childhood) and survived through the years that followed, with all that perspective, and abandonment of petty childhood squabbles, would potentially mean they're happy to reunite and connect, but that line was hella random. Sansa was arrogant, and naive when Arya last knew her, but she grew to be wise after being taken advantage of as a board piece in "the game." But the smartest person she's met, after how long of being around Sansa recently?

I think what pissed me off more than anything else was how much they hyped the long winter. Like so much! But it never got dark, it snowed for like 5 minutes in Kings Landing, and was done right away. What kind of winter was that? That’s what I was looking forward to seeing the most! WINTER IS COMING?? Bro, winter ain’t coming. It also upset me to see the small pile of rubble that Jamie and Cersei died under when all they had to do was literally take a giant step back and totally miss it. There was tons of clean floor around them that didn’t even get dusty let alone buried in rock. Yeah, ok. The last season was a huge disappointment and so rushed. 😔

Like in the first book they talk about a winter which lasted for a whole generation. And the whole "winter is coming" talk is about a winter so long it'll take hundreds of years to settle. Finland has longer winters than Westeros ended up having and it's just a complete joke.

He had 2 end games (which changed during the course of the show). 1: he wanted Catelyn but Ned was in the way. That was later replaced by wanting Sansa, a younger prettier Catelyn. But he also wanted the Vale and through either Catelyn or Sansa he’d get the allegiance of the Riverlands and the North. Not only that only he knew exactly where all the money was coming from. @nolangerrans6083

Yeah it’s very clear that the showrunners disliked most of the magical aspects of the story. Most magic users or magical characters, like the ghost of high heart, marwyn the mage, stoneheart, and the undying, were cut all together, while the absolutely essential ones, like bran, bloodraven, the children, and the others, were severely sidelined unless they were needed for the plot. I get that some magic stuff would be difficult to do with a show, but the reawakening of old magic is an important part of the story. A lot of the magical elements being removed had serious consequences on the plot, like how Jaime and Brienne were left with nothing to do for a while without stoneheart, or how the entire beyond the wall thing in season 7 had to be made up so that the Night King could get a way to break the wall

Littlefinger, Varys and Jamie have to all be tied for my "Done Dirtiest by Season 8" top spot. Littlefinger and Varys for their behind-the-scenes, puppet string pulling fight for the realm that was completely squandered into nothing, and Jamie for a beautiful character arch, going from complete scum bag to one of the most empathetic and likeable (at least for me) characters on the show, being completely gutted and undone in like 3 episodes. GRRM gave these guys one of the biggest character development alley-oops ever and they don't dunk the ball, but instead throw the ball into the stands and hit their own mother in the face.

Why not just encircle Winterfell or heck, even staying close by, but not engaging? He'll tire them out, and strike when it suits him. Attacking the greatest (?) fortress in Westeros is just pure damn dumb if he now has free reign after destroying the wall. It's the humans who need to engage in a fight, not the Night King. At one time this show was an absolute event for my wife and I. Just watching the opening credits you could feel the excitement building inside yourself. The early seasons were simply storytelling at its very best. We heard rumors of a prequel to the series and thought about how unimaginably great these tales could be............then the source material ran dry, two complete hacks did their worst to complete the adventure, and the rest is history. The possibility of prequels (mercifully) vanished. The show we couldn't get enough of became the show we never again thought about. Indeed, thinking about it is irritating. We're not even TV watchers - my cable package is absolutely paltry. This production was really something special top to bottom until it wasn't. Has there EVER been a story that went from the absolute top to the very bottom so quickly??? It's title went from revered to reviled almost overnight. Good riddance.

They even had a damn scene where Jaime explains that he actually did care for the innocents, and D&D just ignored it so they could end the story whatever way they wanted with no care for character development.

@Maximus Brutus That I think infuriated me more than any other single decision. Even putting aside the fact that this was built up as a relationship that Stannis clearly valued very strongly even if he didn't know how to show it very often, there is NO WAY that Stannis, known for his pragmatism, would find it acceptable to murder HIS ONLY HEIR. Even if he wins the war for the throne, he's a king without an heir, and making that decision is the most out of character thing he could possibly do. They said that they hated Stannis from Day 1, and that's why show-Stannis sucks so much and book-Stannis is so awesome. Stephen Dillane was fucking amazing, but D&D just played him so dirty it makes me sick to watch. I expect in the books that Selyse and Melisandre will burn Shireen either without Stannis' knowledge or without his permission, since all 3 of them are still at Castle Black instead of following his army south to Winterfell.

He grew up in the belief that he is a Bastard and he has been insulted more than once on this account. 5. A brother / cousin became distorted of feelings and took Aegon's throne, 6. Not many knew what his real name was, 7. He must have watched Ygrit die first and then kill the Mad Queen (with pain in his heart) (If I made a mistake, I apologize) P.S. In fact, after what he had experienced, he did not want to be king, but maybe he was the best for it? Especially since he was a 'Dragon' and a 'Wolf'. What bothered me most about the aftermath of Jon killing Daenerys wasn't that the Dothraki didn't kill him - why should they? The fighting over who would be Khal you showed was because Drogo was dying of an infection: traditionally, whoever kills the old Khal gets to be new Khal. That's how Daenerys took over in Season 6, and that's how Jon should have taken over in the finale. Basically, if I was writing the show, I would have ignored GRRM's meeping about Brandon the Fisher King (come back when you've actually written it, Georgie), and would have ended the show this way: - Jon kills Dany - we actually SEE the aftermath, which is Dothraki rushing in - Drogon tries to burn Jon, can't, for a similar reason that Dany survived the firestorm, combined with the fact that Jon was resurrected by R'hllor; Drogon burns the throne (or not, IDGAF) and flounces off with Dany's body - Dothraki kneel to Jon, who realises rather quickly what's going on - maybe when Dany was alive, his mind was clouded by the Dany side- and when the Unsullied come in, he just says "Kill them." (I really, REALLY hated Greyworm and co after that episode, and am really glad when I think of them all dying of butterfly fever) - he tells Tyrion that he''s either with Jon or he can join his siblings in a shallow grave -when the Northerners etc turn up, Jon is firmly entrenched as king. Sansa can have the North if she likes, see how she likes dealing with all those assholes who turn on you in a second - no, Jon never wanted to be king. But, to me, that's the real 'bitter-sweet' ending: he has to do something he never wanted to, because with his help, hundreds of people had their lives destroyed - Bronn is quietly taken care of. MASTER OF COIN?? EFF OFF.

As someone who is interested in history and historical battles, what affected my immersion in the story the worst was the battles themselves. The "great commander" Jon Snow putting himself in a position that allowed himself to be completely surrounded in the battle against Boltons. That was a complete "wtf" moment - why make such a great back story on Jon Snow and then portray him as a complete idiot commander. Then, of course, the battle against white walkers. No one in their right mind would charge their cavalry in the front against a enemy who is believed to be overpowered. Why charge at the first place when you are defending? This was a complete waste of thousands of cavalry units that could have been used for flanking or for any other purpose. It made me think that the writers had zero consultation with anyone who has basic understanding on military tactics. Overall, a huge disappointment and has made me unwilling to recommend the series to anyone.
@CultureVultureMedia1

It's funny though. I wonder how much consultation one would need to not make these mistakes. @@Nisshoku The Greyjoy's were meant to be rough, gritty, and different from everyone else and it was shown in how they dress, communicate, routinely live, etc etc. We all know and saw that. Saying "fire" as opposed to "loose" would make sense for them. That being said, good story telling leaves you immersed, not struggling to gauge whether or not something was actually just a mistake. It's like the incident with the Starbucks cup. It's a fantasy world so (for all we know or care) some character could've had a coffee shop with coffee cups and it could've been an intended Easter Egg for dedicated fans to have a laugh when they saw a coffee cup on a table put in deliberately by the creators. We all would've loved that detailing and creativity. It's the fact that it was a STARBUCKS cup that left us all shaking our heads when we realized.. shit, it was actually just a huge, lazy oversight by the creators this far in to the series, and when you see alleged inconsistencies like "fire" vs "loose" 9 seasons in, you can gauge that it's likely just another inconsistency and mistake rather than some crucial, consistent character detailing. It's a trickier example since Greyjoys are never shown fighting as archers much prior to that case, but we can rationally conclude it was probably a mistake.

The word "fire" was created after we invented gunpowder. In medieval times, if youd shout FIRE, people would grabbing a bucket and ask you where the fire was. Commands like Loose, Release or Volley are more believable
@Warhamer116
@Warhamer116 4 жыл бұрын
@@Nisshoku Using "Fire" to signal bow volley in medieval period instead of "Loose" or "Volley" is about as sensible to archer as shouting "Crayons!" to signal opening of suppressive fire to marines. Yeah, it could be explained that the squad leaders had communicated the new order vocabulary beforehand, but realistically, it just causes confusion. And if the marines are from different units, you'd end up with either confused or very happy marines- just like you'd end up with confused archers if the archers came from different areas or, as was usual at the time, different mercenary groups. "Fire" as signal phrase to open fire was used to communicate blackpowder weaponry order- you literally set fire to blackpowder on command via gun's flint, fire-rope or equavalent mechanism. Even the order "Open Fire" consists of two orders- "Open", or open the cover over ignition powder/rope so it could be ignited, and "Fire" or setting fire to the ignition powder. So it made sense to use "Fire" instead of "loose" for early firearms, thus justifying the change in phrases. In same way, "Draw- Loose!" is two orders for archers, one to draw the bow and other to loose arrow.

Obviously not but doing nothing would be better than sending thousands of effectively unarmed people screaming into the abyss containing an army of zombies. Bran: I can't be the lord of anything... I am the Three-eyed Raven. (Later) Tyrion: Wanna be the king of an entire Continent? Bran: Of course!

Why become a lord when you can become a king and lord of the six kingdoms.

Smart? Sansa only knew of Little Finger's treachery through Bran, she was clueless.

@@leonoir We didn't even see the change happen though. She was the same crying helpless little girl before entering Bolton Winterfell. There she got helplessly abused AGAIN, raped, and then saved. After that we see her with Jon and Littlefinger, and she's suddenly bossing them around and schooling them on politics... It's like a missed about two seasons of Sansa in between 5 and 6.

The worst part is not only did the ruin literally EVERY SINGLE CHARACTERS development. But every plot device that was well constructed throughout the show turned into a bunch of random red herrings. The night king, Jon’s lineage, etc.

I've aggressively avoided content like this, and mostly barely touched content about the critique of the final season. Being a lover of the books and an avid fan of the ASOIAF community I didn’t want to watch or listen to it because I knew it was true. This video is simply, CATHARTIC. thanks
