@07jayclassic every single fighter on the roster was on peds back in those days. every.single.one. Hate to break it to ya kiddo but but you dont really seem to understand what peds actually are. And while many of those fighters regressed massivly post USADA, gsp went on to win another title. your argument is flawed on multiple levels. GSP may not have wrestled as a youngster but he became extremly good at it and beat many top class wrestlers, some who where almost as good, arguably just as good as khabib. I rate khabib very highly, but GSP is probably the most complete fighter in the history of the sport.
@Partrees
@Partrees 2 жыл бұрын
@07jayclassic Okay, I see you're a McGregor fan which makes sense why you're so uneducated. GSP has fought and beat 4 Hall of Fame fighters in Michael Bisping (when he held the title, don't say that he didn't deserve it because he took it from a Luke Rockhold who looked invincible), Matt Hughes (twice, who was previously the best WW Champ in history with no competition), Matt Serra, and BJ Penn twice. Then he went on to defend his belt the 3rd most consecutive times in UFC history, in the weight division with the most stacked roster at the time, and one of the most stacked rosters of ALL time. Alves, Shields, Diaz, Condit, Dan Hardy (who you laugh at, yet was an absolute monster at the time) etc. It was a god damn murderers row of blood thirsty top tier talent, and he dominated them all, and in most fights did it without dropping a round. Also, if you don't think he won the Hendricks fight, go back and rewatch it. Bear in mind that any rounds that are too close to call (or are tied), are always given to the Champion because they have proved themselves and you need to BEAT the champion to take the belt. Hendricks never did that. He didn't "retire"... He retired. Because he had health problems (like the onset of CTE), and was tired of fighting juiced up monkeys. Conor beat Jose Aldo and a pre-primed Dustin Poirier, and Eddie Alvarez. These 2 people aren't even remotely fucking comparable. Conor is washed up garbage (with a win streak that only lasted a few years, while he should be in his prime) that only ever had a straight left as a weapon, whereas GSP fought and beat people in all different aspects of fighting. He was by far and away the most complete fighter of his generation, and one of the most complete of all time. You talking about how he didn't fight Yoel, Jacare, and Costa? Are you high? The only one that could possibly stay on their feet out of them is Yoel, and even then, GSP proved multiple times he could take down world class wrestlers. Put any of those guys against Usman, what's gonna happen? They're gonna get jabbed in the jaw over and over, then taken down and fucking mauled. GSP was the same as Usman, but better. The UFC can't bring up a lawsuit because he didn't break the terms of his contract. He couldn't get medical clearance to fight anymore because of Ulcerative Colitis. God, you're a fucking moron, and a joke of a human being. Shut your dirty cock sucker and go educate yourself on topics before you try to argue about them. You look like a tool.

From a crowd standpoint, no it sucks to see. No offense but BJJ is a joke of a martial art. I will never agree with a fighting style that puts yourself on the ground. As a Okinawan martial arts practioner (Isshinryu), our grappling is meant to put the opponent on the ground not both of you. How is that practical in the real world? It's never 1 on 1 IRL. Even if you got some guy in an ankle lock, your completely vulnerable. Sure, it's just the 2 of you. You break his arm. Then what? Get up and say LEAVE or ill do it again? Your go to is to break someone's arm or ankle in an altercation? Sounds kinda twisted and sad. MMA is a joke. Its cage fighting. All signs of a traditional martial arts are gone.

@@rotten2209 "traditional martial arts" have severely limited applications in real life. Thats why its called MMA. *Mixed Martial Arts.* Because it *takes* most effective and useful moves and techniques from every traditional martial art and combines it into a single conglomerate. So that *everything* you use is effective. Your blind faith to tradition will only ever limit you and the people you teach. One day youll come across someday trying to legitimately harm you, and youll attempt to employ your martial art, and youll find out that when the other person isnt following the same honor rules that you are, they can completely dismantle you and ignore many of those superfluous moves which seem to only work well when being employed against a user of the same martial art

How is the perceived strength/weakness of karate or the fact that utilising multiple martial arts is good in a fight, in any way contradicting the man's point; which is that going to the ground in a real life scenario is going to be a bad idea 99% of the time? The karate chap is right, which doesn't mean karate is superior to X or Y, but it does mean that in real life it is rare that you want to go to the ground due to the fact that you leave yourself entirely open to person number 2 stomping your head in. For the audience, as in the actual in-person audience who are physically there, it is also not very fun to watch people on the ground because they cannot see what is going on, even if they could understand it. I can enjoy it as a spectator on youtube where we have close up camera angles and can, for the most part, see what's happening; but if I was actually there it would suck. Most Eastern martial arts are largely worthless to an intelligent fighter though, because in almost any situation you should be able to have a weapon. Whether its you (or the other guy) carrying a blade or a bat, or simply grabbing a nearby bottle or whatever; weapons are a big part of combat, and if all you care about is winning/surviving (most RL scenarios) then you aren't going to think its 'dishonourable' to use it. Due to the focus of Eastern marital arts being hand-to-hand combat, few practitioners will actually be used to fighting an enemy with a knife or a bottle, and while many train a little bit for those circumstances, it is not nearly enough; a truly dangerous fight is going to involve a blade or a bottle far more often than it is just going to be fists, so if self-defense was truly the primary purpose of martial arts; then they would shift the focus to be about weapons. Almost all Western martial arts heavily revolved around using a weapon, and in fairness grappling and wrestling did actually become useful in some of those scenarios where people were well armoured, as you could only land a kill-shot by targeting the weak points in armour; but they generally wouldn't be trying to snap someone's arm, rather they would be trying to sink their dagger through the visor or the armpit.

I’m not Québécois but I’ve lived in Quebec for 2/3’s of my life and had the privilege to witness a ‘hometown’ guy like Georges in his prime, but a video about his finishes? I’m thinking that that video isn’t going to be very long. I’m trying to remember but I don’t think Georges finished that many guys…which is not an insult at all. This guy is the GOAT!

Didn't finish when defending a title but when his opponent was holding a title (3 Hughes fights, Serra rematch, Champ vs Champ fight with Penn and Bisping) he always finished them, or got finished by Hughes in that first one. There is one thing that later generations won't be able to appreciate like those of us who were actually able to watch GSP fight during his prime (as opposed to just watching highlights) is that there was a period of time between when GSP took the title from Hughes in 2006 to 2012 when Carlos Condit landed that headkick, that GSP hadn't even lost 1 round (yes...he got caught by Serra, but everyone knew that was a bit of a fluke). During that period GSP had an incredible aura around him like he was unbeatable - when he walked into that stadium the place was electric. Of course his haters would watch with baited breath and anytime an opponent even landed a flurry or did something positive, it was like a win to the haters which would get far too much credit for. That welterweight division was stacked with killers and he cleaned the division out multiple times - there were no contenders out there that didn't get a shot at him which he didn't take out. And when he fought Condit, who at that time was 28-5 with 26 finishes, landed that kick to the dome, you could feel the MMA world go into shock as everyone thought they were going to see the impossible occur. And for GSP to get over that adversity to come out with the win was something special. But until then there was a period of 6 years that people thought the guy was superhuman. It was really something to behold.
