I’m at number 17 and not seen the Dog Kennel From Hell Match, Shark Cage Match (2 wrestlers wrestling in a shark cage), the Piranha Death Match, The Doomsday Cage Match or the Japanese Bathhouse Match! All I can think is that they’re up near the top of the list (I did check that the list goes worst to best) as What Culture seems them as some of the best gimmick matches. And the WCW Chamber Of Horrors Match where they put Abdullah The Butcher in an electric chair and pulled the switch down to “electrocute” him to win the match.

I can sum this video up quickly. This match is trash unless AEW does it, AEW's version was absolutely brilliant, but WWE blew a wet turd doing it.

Are we watching the same video? Cause I'm pretty sure he pointed out that AEW screwed up the Barb Wired Exploding Death Match, how convoluted their Casino Rumble is, how they also mess up the Special Guest Referee (with the exception of the one with Mark Briscoe but he also counted Shawn Michaels so its fair), and also how overly done the Blood and Guts match is Besides some cases are fair, I genuinely have little interest in WWE's Steel Cage matches because they actively contradict themselves as he points out in the video with the Interferences, and I HATE their escape door rule AEW I don't recall uses any escape rules which was the original point of a Cage match

I'm convinced Whatculture is owned by Meltzer. They continually orally please AEW. Virtually all WWE Casket matches suck but Darby Fukin Allen can't have a bad casket match. 1st off Shawn vs Taker Rumble 97 is better than any Darby Casket match. Plus does anyone remember anything about a Darby match other than him always crashing throught the coffin? No, but people remember those horrible WWE casket matches because of the story told.

@@punchman13 no actually they mention AEW quite a bit even in just this video. For example they said AEW did the steel cage match perfectly with one match but WWE insults the fan base with it. WWE has done probably 50× the amount of steel cage matchee AEW will ever put on so of course some will be eh but instead they literally insult WWE just to do it.

Question, if your gonna make such accusations why even bother watching this? After all I see a bunch of whiners like you all make these claims ALL OVER their list videos so why continue watching if its (in your minds) always gonna be the general same? And mind you in my mind WWE's usual Steel Cage matches suck: I HATE their Escape Rules and especially with that damn door and how the original point of these matches was to locked the wrestlers in with no escape or help, and yet WWE more often then not throws those out the window for cheap wins (looking at Cena vs Wyatt terrible cage match) Besides they make arguments of AEW's bad choices too here: Blood and Guts being to much, Casino Rumble being convoluted, Barbed Wire Exploding Death Match being a flop, and Special Guest Referee being just as bad even (except for Mark Briscoe's time which is balanced by Shawn Michaels first time)

Last Ride matches weren't wom by the move Last Ride. They had to put their opponent in a hearse and close the door hence them going on their "Last Ride" basically an ambulance match but with an Undertaker twist.

This could be a hot take, but I am a sucker for Last Man Standing matches. The concept has about a million possibilities for brutal, violent fun and the babyface barely moving after 6 gets me shaking in anticipation and anxiety. Announce a LMS match and I’m watching. Come at me if you want, see if I care.

I'm sure someone's already said it, but at 3:49 the "Last Ride match" was not a finisher match. No one was trying to hit Undertaker's slightly elevated powerbomb on him (a move he rarely used as the Deadman anyway, that was Biker Taker's finisher). The Last Ride match was an ambulance match, except it was a hearse.

@@oSmokeyyyeah the Punjabi prison is pretty cool but the name was always gonna ruin it. It only makes sense if Khalil is in the match, but then Khalil is in the match. If Khalil isn’t involved it’s half decent but you’re stuck wondering “why are these two white guys in a Punjabi prison?”

The only 3 stage of match which is good to watch is Austin vs HHH 2001. The other matches are forgettable. He is listing the best gimmick matches based on overall match quality it brought and the hype and history behind it.

10:11 I think the better comparison is early ROH. There wasn't even a show of a countout; it'd be mentioned on commentary that the referee could throw the match out if, in his discretion, the competitors stayed outside the ring too long. Which happened like twice.

I still maintain that a "Roulette" Battle Royale would work better than the current Casino Battle Royale. Instead of having people come out in groups, just bite the bullet and do it one at a time every 2 minutes like a Rumble, but have a roulette wheel spin to reveal the next entrant. Make it a digital one to control who actually comes out (for planning purposes) and so you can hide the yet-to-be-known entrants. Even though we'll know it's pre-determined, it still feels like a better version of the casino themed gimmick.

The casket and stretcher match can be pretty exciting. One of my favorite matches of all time is a casket match and Brock Lesnar had an entertaining meeting with Big Show in a stretcher match.

A pure rule match is possibly one the of the best things to watch seeing two wrestlers doing proper pro wrestling and the 20 count just makes for better ring side spots and even more tense double count out spots

The fact that there was such an incredibly bad move as forgetting to remove the strings from a piano before having a wrestler throw somebody through said table is insane. Like, there are 264 metal strings inside of a piano, most of which are strong enough that they can be used to slice flesh or strangle. And they just- didn't take the strings out?

26:00 I love the Pure Style. I think that more titles should emphasize specific match types like this one, which allows for a fundamental break from the nearly anything goes nature of most wrestling matches. The contrast here makes it better and the regular type of match better.

I know it literally just happened and this was probably filmed a while ago, Maika and Momo Watanabe just had a pretty good 3 Stages Of Hell match. Not the level of Austin HHH or Michaels HHH but still pretty fine for Stardom's first time trying a stip like that.

FACTS since the last time wwe did it was adam cole vs johnny gargano for the nxt championship at nxt takeover toronto and I’m kinda surprised aew has not done this type of match for a feud since they have done texas death, street fights, parking lot brawls, blood and guts aka wargames, steel cage, and anarchy in the arena matches before.

This is one of those topics where it might have been best to just do a list of all gimmick matches rather than rank them - its one of those things that nobody will ever agree on or say something or other should have been ranked higher than it was or lower than where it was placed. Can even see a semblance of disagreement in them compiling this list where some are described as older matches were good but recent ones sucked, which is why we ranked it so low... and then a few entries later they are saying that only one match was good and the rest all sucked but because of that one good match its ranked high.

I get it times have changed but (to me atleast) it comes across as virtue signalling. I reiterate, times have changed for the absolute best but lets not think that in the late 90's and 2000's most guys (and obviously some girls) were not into the women's presentation. Congrats if you had this train of thought back in its day...but i kinda doubt it.
