Well the rng elementals such as the critical hits he can do with his smash attacks make sense if you consider the fact that hero is from an RPG and those tend to have a lot of RNG stuff in them

along with what other users have mentioned in the comments, Hocus Pocus can also result in using Kamikazee and Magic Burst (Magic Burst will still drain the rest of your MP, unlike the other specials which just use Hocus Pocus's 4 MP cost), and one of the negative effects I've seen happen is setting the Hero's MP to 1, though I've only seen this happen once

Fun fact, Hocus Pocus can even make you do a regular attack. It once made me f-tilt and I was kinda annoyed. I mean who casts a spell only to do something that doesn't us MP? Kinda dumb. But you COULD do max charge side-b for only 4 MP. Seems like a fair trade.

I actually didn't know you were slower with Bounce active Fun thing to note about Whack and Thwack though: While the in-game tips say that Thwack has more range than Whack, it's not wholly true. Thwack does cover a big radius in front of you, and certainly much more vertical range than Whack. However, Whack is actually a projectile, and while I don't know just how far it goes, it definitely seems to go longer than Thwack's horizontal range

The hero is gonna mix up the competitive scene. Magic burst, kamikaze, metal shift, the instant probability KO’s, the axe etc. the metal shift on its own makes hero his own best counter, magic burst at high mana is a guaranteed edge guard and at high levels an easy KO, and Kamikaze is a 65% self destruct move that only requires 1 mana.
