I was reminded of the 30 for 30 "You Don't Know Bo" where the guy talks about the sound of the bat when Bo Jackson hit the ball. The guy had heard all of the greats since the 40s, and said he hadn't heard that sound for 20+ years.

Many of those HRs were mammoth, and the opposing team's broadcaster had to exclaim about them with awe. That HR off the catwalk in Tropicana Field was incredible, and roughly equalled by the HR way up into the upper boxes of T-Mobile Park. Ohtani has so much power in such a smooth, quick, explosive swing that is beautiful to watch.

On a side note, rewatching these HRs and seeing how many are solo shots and how many are when the Angel's are close or down a lot goes to show how bad the team is outside of its big players.

@@easetheweeb yes, either an intentional walk (he had the most at 20 including tying an all time record of 11 in 3 games) or throwing garbage pitches the entire at bat and hoping he would swing at them because he was the only decent hitter who could do any damage on the team. Again, if he played for the strong blue jays lineup he would have had 15 more HRs since he would have seen good pitches

@@ihsukagotl9936 That's amazing. Thank you for taking time to write this. Yeah, he is the most exciting baseball player in my lifetime. He has elite pitching and hitting skills and he's great defensively. Overall the most exciting player in my lifetime. Everyone wanted to see the guy play. I hope he stays healthy and continues to be an MVP

There were times in Japan when his home runs were so daily news, people started thinking “oh so he didn’t hit today” only turning out to be it was a no game day.

When Bo Jackson hit a 500 ft home run in Royals Stadium off the crown of the scoreboard in center, Buck O'neal said "I've only heard that sound off the bat 3 times in my life....The first was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was today" Ohtani has that same sound off his bat ..... You're not wrong about the Ruth comparisons.

I was at Angels stadium during his rookie season and he hit an absolute bomb HR. I immediately went and bought his jersey. The ball comes off his bat different. 116mph off the bat is insane.
