I was reminded of the 30 for 30 "You Don't Know Bo" where the guy talks about the sound of the bat when Bo Jackson hit the ball. The guy had heard all of the greats since the 40s, and said he hadn't heard that sound for 20+ years.

Many of those HRs were mammoth, and the opposing team's broadcaster had to exclaim about them with awe. That HR off the catwalk in Tropicana Field was incredible, and roughly equalled by the HR way up into the upper boxes of T-Mobile Park. Ohtani has so much power in such a smooth, quick, explosive swing that is beautiful to watch.

Shohei's HR is one of the loudest and sweetest sound of the bat & ball, most of his HRs were 380 to 400 feet, I can't imagine if Ohtani played at the small ballpark at Yankee stadium, he probrably hit 60 HRs also

8:55 "there's A certain sound for premiere hitters" The way it sometimes sound like a gunshot or firework when Ohtani hits a ball is electric. Everyone in every stadium starts to cheer. On a side note, rewatching these HRs and seeing how many are solo shots and how many are when the Angel's are close or down a lot goes to show how bad the team is outside of its big players.

@@easetheweeb yes, either an intentional walk (he had the most at 20 including tying an all time record of 11 in 3 games) or throwing garbage pitches the entire at bat and hoping he would swing at them because he was the only decent hitter who could do any damage on the team. Again, if he played for the strong blue jays lineup he would have had 15 more HRs since he would have seen good pitches

It is definitely the longest hit at T-Mobile park, I have been to my fair share of games there and the size of the stadium combined with the elevation and humidity makes a 463 foot hr fucking insane. It is incredibly rare to hit into the top deck, it has only happened a handful of times, definitely less than 10

It doesn't matter what team you cheer for. If you are a fan of baseball you have to love this guy because he is the type of player that brings fans in, keeps the game of baseball going. I've been lucky enough to grow up and watch so many of the top athletes on several sports and now this, 2021 was arguably the greatest season ever. I doubt that in a hundred years anyone will get even close to the kind of combined numbers he put out....seriously it was over a hundred years since Ruth put anything close to what Ohtani did.

Very few men have ever made the bat sound that way on HR hits. Babe Ruth, Bo Jackson, Josh Gibson, Mickey Mantle, and Barry Bonds were some of the few in history to achieve that solid of a swing and contact. It's known as "getting all of it"

It's funny how homeruns to right field at Angels stadium used to require being into the stands but then they did the thing with the yellow line just above the wall and below the scoreboard. Kids and women love his smile and personality, men are in awe of his hight and strength. Made everyone happy and proud of his achievement. Enormous media attention every his move. Funny. Most the pitchers don't even look after contact. They know it's going to leave the yard as the ball comes off the bat.
