@@Cheesecake770 That's what the chinese call Mei, it's to do with the fact that the chinese and the japanese use the same "alphabet" but the same characters have different pronunciations. If I'm not mistaken the chinese pronounce Raiden Mei as Léidiàn Yáyī (though perhaps it's fairer to say it's in reverse considering where the game came from), yes it's caused confusion amongst fans of the game speaking different languages before haha. Somewhat off topic but perhaps fun to know, there have been a others cases like this. To name a few: Benghuai = Houkai = Honkai (this one is pretty bad since the original and it's first translation mean something along the lines of 'collapse' or 'destruction' while the last translation mean something like 'wish'). Fu Hua = Fuka Xi-er = Seele Anti-Entropy = Negentropy Jormungand = World Serpent Celene = Sirin (tbf this one is a holdover from GGZ/honkai 2)

You know, the comments of Ei being Kiana and Mei's love child, and now the comment of Alhaitham being Su and Kevin's love child, ships irrelevant here, has got me thinking that maybe that maybe thats the pattern with genshin characters? Rather than being flat out clones or counterparts of honkai characters, its more like the devs are giving a little a nod to different ships and friendships within the honkai fandom by making characters that seems like they could be the children or mix of two honkai characters. Of course, still resuing assests, but making a fun little nod while they are at it? Navia and Durandal look very similar, Venti and Wendy, and I think Natasha and Arlecchino are actually supposed to be counterparts (aesthetic, both have an orphanage, fire). Scaramouche is a lot more similar to Mei than Ei imo as well. Charlotte (Genshin) and Charlotte (Honkai stigmata), Kirara and Pardofelis, and while this is a different hoyo game, Jyahnar (ggz/ houkai 2) looks a lot like Bonanus.
