Just how bad were Australia in the 2010-11 Ashes? Losing 1-3 was shambolic, the comeback they made since was brilliant
@samb87446 ай бұрын
Aus had a hard time finding its feet for many years after losing Gilly, Warnie, Hayden, Lee, Symonds, McGrath and Langer, new players like Smith were finding their feet, and Ponting was going through a slump. For about 6 years, the Aus cricket team tried out so many debutants and experimented with different players and styles. Plus Clarke wasn’t the best in the world yet. Plus Eng had Root, Anderson and Stokes all in good form. But even in our rough era. Aus was typically still way better in England that England was in Aus

He was not quite the bowler that Warne & McGrath were but if anyone deserved to surpass Shane it was Jimmy. His longevity speaks for itself, his fitness should be a benchmark for all players. He should be coaching on mastery of the duke ball. I therefore hope Root revises his recent statement because Stewart is right: Mammoth scores, countless draws, kookaburra balls will make average batsmen look very good and invalidate Jimmy's efforts; he MUST NOT be consigned to a relic of another era. I cannot wait for he, Clarke, Katich et al., to go at it in commentary; Jimmy would be great on FOX Sports Cheers mate from Oz & Thanks for a great career.

How many were catches at slip or point, or gully? The late movement of Anderson deliveries, has no equal. He was erratic, and sometimes expensive... but he got the key wickets on bad pitches. He got the top order batsmen too. That's why they kept on coming. 700 plus, for a quick. A doubt we'll see that beaten. Cheers Jimmy. Have a good 'un!
