From my reading, I would not use yew for anything food related.

Absolutely agree. The alkaloid poisoning, for which there is no antidote, causes, among other symptoms, severe cardiac dysrhythmias. It is not worth trusting ingestion even from dried forms of the wood. I recently acquired some slabs of yew and have been pondering what to make from them.....picture frames or vases maybe, but definitely not sushi plates.

A nice big chunk of yew. That is a big scoop, lovely figure and colour indeed. Looking forward to see what you turn from the rest, and from the other woods. Thanks for another educational and entertaining video. .

Tomislav yew dust can be harmful so be careful I always wear a dusk mask. and when sanding yew if it gets hot it likes to split.

Coincidentally I watched Richard R's video on turning scoops a couple of days ago. Yours and his are both excellent. I tried making one yesterday which didn't work but I think the next one will.

Very nice results with that yew; very impressed with the color as well. It was good watching your turn that scoop -- you provided some good information just showing how you turned it. Looking forward to seeing what you do with those other pieces, especially the red heart.
