I used to waste so much time fishing dead water as a bank angler just because I didn't want to pack up and move. Since I started kayak fishing I can move as much as I want. This has increased my success substantially.

Great video! This seems to be accurate to my local lakes both clear and dirty. I have a small 4,800 acre very dirty water lake near here that has very little conventional cover. However, the few features that are there almost always have a population of bass on then(or very close by. The other parts of the lake NEVER hold fish. Makes it easier to find the bass but easier for everyone else as well. Thanks Randy for your diverse content. I like these ones about bass behavior more than the typical “use this bait” videos. That’s why I love Intuitive Angling.

Mr. Blaukat another great video. Im in my 50s and still learn so much from your videos. I have been fushing fir over 45 years and would enjoy a video that discusses deep water spinner baits on brush piles. Often times i get a good size bass to go for a spinner bait in deeper water than say a big wirm or jig. I also wanted you to know i enjoyed your interview on Mercer. You just tell it like it is. I have a graph at the console thats it. I still look at the lake, the shorline and use maps and marker buoy s. I just dont enjoy most tournament fishing venues anymore. I wish someone would create an old school tournament. I bet many anglers would sign up. One last thing. Have you ever used a Snagless Sally.. its an inline soinnerbait that is great here in Alabama on these river systems we have in Central Alabama. Take Care and God Bless. Here in Louisiana we have lots of actual “dead water “ it’s depleted of oxygen and that water will move especially in river basins and brackish water marsh

Some troll so fast and make 1 cast to a blowdown,laydown...Consider it dead water. Slow your roll and make a few more cast. Example..... Tournament fisher cast 2 times at two letdowns 30 feet apart. ""Such a prime spot"". I trolled over to it, clamped my johnboat to a cedar knee and caught 4 bass by the time he got about 50yds from me still trolling at 5mph. He seen what I caught, trolled back to me and started casting near me. I hooked up on a tournament winner in his face. He got instantly pissed and told me I was interfering with the tournament. It got heated to nasty argument till I told him, I know you launchd out of Helens Hideaway, On the Chickahominy River. I will report your rudeness to everyone there. But you got lucky today cause Im no snitchy little boy. Just keep trolling past all the fish so I can catch them. He got so angry he started up and tried to throw his rooster tail on me with his motor trimmed up.After all that commotion and noise, I still caught some keepers. Such an embarrassment to B.A.S.S. Im sure he never placed any points. Just another jelouse little man.$60,000 boat and 5grand in rods and reels will never catch you more fish than me. Its knowledge ....not the price you pay.

Hey Randy, any tips on dead areas for down here in FL? Places I fish have almost no areas where there is no cover, mainly grasses of course, but it’s pretty rare to have just a sand or muck bottom without something growing there. And very little wood or lay downs, and basically no rock. Sure you know how it is here, every where looks like it should hold fish, and can get overwhelming pretty quickly on larger bodies of water. Things like, I know now it’s so hot, they are buried in the thickest mats, grass, pads they can find, and since the places I fish are only 6’ or less, offshore isn’t even a thing,ha, but anywhere you look, it looks like it should be holding fish. if you have not located fish in a while, when you get to the lake, where is your starting points, and what you look for, say other than feeding birds, etc? Thanks man, glad I found your channel. Have subscribed to a lot of other channels that were helpful, and still rely on Tatical Bassin a lot, but some of the others seem like they are more into, “ entertainment than information “ and has its place, but nice to have a channel like yours that’s more information first, entertainment second. Keep up the good work, thanks.

Thanks Randy. Do you have any tidewater videos coming up. I fish upper Chesapeake, just local tournaments and always looking for a edge. Do to a back injury not as mobile, need to rely on limited brain capacity instead of making 60 cast a minute like I use to do.
