But at least it wasn't as bad as Andy Sturmer's music for "The Looney Tunes Show," which actually WAS a sitcom, and a lot of Sturmer's music was far more atonal than Lava's.

To me, the W7 era's music sounds like... the 1960s and all its' organic funkiness, especially the drums, bass and electric guitar bits in shorts like "Chimp and Zee", "Bunny and Claude", "Rabbit Stew and Rabbits Too" and "Bugged By a Bee". I am kind of reminded of "The Banana Splits" music as well, or at least the theme song. Even the DFE era's music sounds more cartoony to me, as little instrumentation as those may have.
@ZakWolf2 жыл бұрын
@@UnicornDreamsPastelSkies, I actually really like Lava's music in the four shorts you mentioned. This was the I can’t believe they are still going at it era. The music is pretty funky but IMO they were trying too hard. Most of Termite Terrace by this point had been either fired or moved on. Hanna Barbara and DePatie-Freling were the animation studios of choice during these years. Warner Brothers should have just shut down the animation studios completely by around 1960 or so. The last era of really great Warner Brothers cartoons in the Golden Age was in the 50’s. There are one or two outstanding IMO cartoons post 1960 but they are few and far between.

I tend to agree, though I thought Bunny and Claude (a send up of "Bonnie and Clyde") had its moments. Ditto for Norman Normal. And I give Robert McKimson (one of Warner Brothers most underrated toon directors) credit for helming some of these cartoons. Still, while Bugs Bunny was ushered out of the classic era with Fresh Hare (1964), one of the last cartoons of the classic era, Daffy Duck was continuing to appear in the DFE and later Seven Arts era finally ending with See You Later Gladiator (1967) the last original Daffy Duck cartoon until The Ducksorcist (1987).
