So I'm watching my six-year-old nephew for a couple of hours. Playing on the floor beside me with trucks. I finish watching this video, ...and check out the Muck site. "Whatcha reading?" So I read the boot description out loud. Still playing with trucks, he exclaims without even looking up, "I bet they're no good in lava." Everybody's a critic these days. Lol.

@@CanadianPrepper Right? But the sad thing is that, in our classes/presentations, we profess that the two most important words in prepping are "What if?", ...and that we ask that question to avoid ever asking the two worst words in prepping, ..."What now?". After what Tanner has been through over the years, ...I think it might be advisable to leave that part out of TPW. Lol.

Finnish army trains and fights in rubber boots, summer and winter (skiing compatible with felt liners), and some military posers laugh at us. Of course there are combat boots for when it fits the mission. But with all the lakes and swamps, we wear them from cradle to grave.

You guys even have probably the most famous rubber boots manufacturer in the world..Nokia :P But yes, we (80 km to south:) often wear rubber boots the same reason. Lots of swamps and moist areas.

@@haanjamiis Oh yes, the Nokias are a legend. I did my service back when the felt lined winter boots were introduced to the northernmost bases. Frostbites on the feet almost disappeared overnight, a real improvement. Can´t believe we made do with ww2 era jackboots and greatcoats well into the 80s!

I swear way too many "men" these days are more worried about FASHION rather than FUNCTION. A bunch of wusses is what they are! Practicality is what should matter most. If it was done a certain way before (and worked well), then that proven way shouldn't change with the times, but sadly it does. They always gotta reinvent the wheel, as the saying goes. Corporate marketing targeting today's dumbed down generation is the biggest problem.

Canadian prepper, I'm with you 100% on this one. When I first saw somebody wearing a rubber boot and 25 below zero, I thought they were nuts. Now I wear Muck Boots six to eight months out of the year 10 to 14 hours a day. Basically you could say it is my standard work attire, an office worker might wear loafers as their standard shoe, out here in the oilfield it's Mucks. Because of the heavy wear and tear on my boots out in the oil field oh, I go through a pair about every year or so. When I Retire Repair for minor leaks and whatnot I patch him up a bit and then they become a backup boot to keep in a vehicle. Each of my three vehicles and my RV has a pair stashed in them. As you mentioned, they are more comfortable, and warmer then your most expensive work boots.

@Publik Channel I drive a truck in the oil field, and it is a much much better job can you oil field van driving over the road. I'm home every night, and make nearly triple what I was making driving over the road. A lot of the jobs just depend on what you're doing and where you're at, as far as how good a job they are. I really like my job I get out in the boonies of Wyoming. I mostly work alone but I see beautiful scenery and lots of wildlife everyday.

We call them wellies in the UK. And use interchangable socks as a liner. The good old Wellington boot. Hunters brand had since 1992 latex/silicone can roll 'em up and pop 'em in your pockets. Used to do a bit of fishing back then before bikes, beer, drugs, skydiving ect. ect. and lots of hard work in between with long hours, 6 months without a single LONG day off sort of hours for several years... 90s were my fun learning years. Ahh memories. Still doing 14 hr days graphting. Started 06.45 got in 20.30 today. Lifes a bloody peach.. and we have it made in the 1st world didn't you know.

I’ve had a pair of Muck Arctic Pro for a couple of years and really like them for reasons like you said in this video. But last year I got a pair of Baffin Trapper boots and they have become my go to boots. They have a removable liner and waffle foot bed to catch sweat that makes them warmer in cold conditions when not moving around much. At least for me. I also find them easier to dry (inside) and clean. Plus they’re a bit cheaper compared to the Muck’s. Having said that, the kid is right, they would be no good in lava. Thank you for the videos and the very well thought and research information you share. Take care.

If you wear two pair of socks a nylon against your skin and then the Merino wool over top and then you wear the gen 3 military level 1 silkweight and level 2 waffle long johns you can lock the socks into your long johns and they stay up all day long inside the mucks. I went hiking a mountain range pretty darn Steep and the same going down all day long and I never had to pull my socks up even one time and my feet stayed warm the entire time and there was probably 20 degrees Fahrenheit and foot of snow in the Montana Rocky Mountains. Totally enjoyed them.

Well, that's well and good for able bodied people who don't have to wear a prosthetic device on their feet. I have a form of Muscular Dystrophy called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and I wear articulating foot orthotics on both feet that go up just below my knees and I also have a knee brace for my right knee for stability. Muck Boots are nice but not doable for some people due to constraints not of their making. As far as ticks are concerned, I might make a suggestion, I wear BDU's that are factory made with permethrin bug deterrents. I hunt spring turkeys and have stripped down on the side of the highway when I saw the ticks crawling on my clothes! Fortunately, I have never had a tick attached to my body and I hope that I never do! LOL If you're not able to get the military surplus, I know that you can purchase permethrin spray and spray directly on your clothing. Just a little tidbit of my knowledge. :-)

I have a pair of Cabela's wading boots. Not as good as Muck. The first pair developed a crack in one of the boots as I discovered while wading through an ice cold puddle while deer hunting. Took'em back for full refund, got a slightly better pair which lasted me for a couple more months of hunting. Will be using them again this fall.

While I will agree good fitting, quality, protective, effective, and convenient footwear should be of high importance... I am going to have to call you out here on providing misinformation; or maybe that you have simply not done your due diligence, misguided or misinterpreting ie. knowing what you're wearing and addressing here. These are the needed corrections: A.) Neoprene is a synthetic rubber. B.) These boots are NOT breathable. That said.. why go closed cell neoprene vs. natural rubber? Biggest reasons are 1.) Oil & gas resistance 2.) Temperature stability range from extreme heat to cold. 3.) Increased longevity. 4.) Compressibility. 5.) Adhesion. 6.) Insulating 7.) Resistant to ozone and oxidization 7.) Relatively inert 'Barrier' to 'contain liquid' and air ie. 'sealing'. THE INNER is made of AirMesh. This technology is a sandwich fabric process. Why is this stuff inside a Muck Boot? 1.) Air permeability plus moderate heat and moisture management/regulation ability. In other words... air circulates in the sandwich to 'feel' breathable by having so many different synthetic polymer surface area structures = hence dry feeling comfort. 2.) AirMesh is resilient and resistant... so these properties enhance wear resistance, flexibility, comfort, while also a mold. mildew, and antibacterial proof. Inner is highly washable as well. Please note tho' that the outer is still NOT breathable. Like boating pro-tips for you and Lilly... this is meant to properly inform folks what a Muck Boot among others similar actually is (and is not).

i use them at work must layer in them once u sweat them out your feet will freez the only other thing is the Tongue on the back will a Eventually rub into the back of your leg and you will have to cut it out but other than that they are great I where I'm in the middle of Winter on a ship in the Great Lakes they do work.. Don't wear Wool socks with them on less it's SUPER COLD Or you will sweat them out and freeze your toes

I've a pair of DryShod rubber boots much like Muck boots except with steel toes. But the I've been from the crest of a mountain range (albeit at the pass) to the center of the basin with the boots during the winter on calls. My dress size is 11.5 to 12 but my boot size is 13 American or 14 for other insulated boots.
