To mark the end of 2021, I’ve decided to voice my thoughts on every Mario & Luigi finale. Not just the final bosses but also the final levels and endings as well. If you disagree with me on this, that’s perfectly fine. Just try to be mature about it.

Here’s my ranking of the finales: 5. Superstar Saga. While I definitely like the game a lot more than you do (the remake at any rate, the original sucks) I have to agree that this finale feels kinda underwhelming. The visuals aren’t that intriguing, the enemies are sort of just there and the Koopalings making their unexpected comeback (in the original) didn’t have that much of an impact because they just randomly appeared without any buildup and the fights with them are the gimmick of the dungeon. I like the showdown with Fawful and the battle against Cackletta’s Soul is certainly climactic, but the difficulty spike is a major issue. On top of that, the ending itself feels a little anticlimactic. The credits theme is great, but the farewells don’t have that much impact. (Also when the heck did Toadsworth and Lady Lima get so close? I kinda would’ve liked to have seen that play out during the game) 4. Paper Jam. I have to admit, I do like the final confrontations a lot, and even though I have complained about Shiny RoboBowser, it’s still a really cool fight. And the ending itself is well done as well, a fitting way to close the series. So why is it this low? Well, I don’t like the dungeon itself. It’s not exactly bad, I just don’t think the puzzles and minigames are that interesting. I also don’t approve of the enemies being as tough as they are, but that’s a bit of a nitpick I suppose. 3. Partners In Time. Storming Shroob Castle is a joy. I love the dark atmosphere, the puzzles are fairly good (if unoriginal since we’ve done some of them before already) and the final battles are great. Elder Princess Shroob is thankfully not as difficult as other final bosses, though she definitely has way too much HP. Besides that though, Shrowser. Need I say more? Everyone hates that fight. It was completely unnecessary. The ending here is just okay. It’s pretty much what you’d expect. 2. Dream Team. I really don’t get why you don’t like this one. The castle looks intimidating as heck, the enemies provide just the right amount of challenge, the focus on the Dream World makes sense and is integrated into the design really well, the music is awesome and atmospheric, pumping you up for the big showdown with Bowser and Antasma. And yes, the final battles are excellent, though I do think the Giant Bowser and Dreamy Bowser fights could’ve been toned down in certain areas. Side note, Adventure’s End is in my opinion the BEST final boss theme in Mario history. Yes, even better than The Grand Finale and both Galaxy games’ final fights. The ending itself is a bit disappointing, but it works. We got Bowser finally give Luigi some respect. 1. Bowser’s Inside Story. What more can I really say about this one? The buildup is outstanding, the castle and the Airway are really fun to traverse, the music is darn near perfect and the ending is heartwarming and satisfying. Plus the final battle isn’t overbearing in the slightest.

Yeah, it sucks. There are hints at there being a sixth entry in the future, but like I said, I wouldn't mind it if there weren't anymore games because at least we wouldn't run the risk of them ruining a nearly flawless legacy.

eh...it's both good and bad because... 5 games, all of them at the worst, ok...that's a good track-record...and it's bad because...no more games... paper mario but it stopped at a good time

Great video! Here's my personal ranking of every finale. 5. Partners in Time: I'll admit that most of it was based on the crappy playthrough of the game I did. I'll admit that when I replay this game I'd probably place it higher. But for now it gets this spot. At least I'm not using this one crappy playthrough to post a video to my 200K subscriber KZbin channel to complain about the gameplay when I usually only complain about story and when I complain about gameplay it's usually fights that are generally agreed to be annoying! The area had some of the most rooms out of any M&L finale and all of them had enemies in them, which when your horribly underleveled means pain. The area feels filled with more padding than the entirety of Dream Team since they probably designed Peach's Castle exclusively as a hub world at first and then converted it into the final area without changing the hub world's layout. I honestly just wish that Peach's Castle wasn't a hub world, but I'm getting off topic. Now let's get into the biggest source of agony, the final boss. Being 11 levels underleveled means that a final boss takes forever to kill and does a lot of damage. Who knew? I should have. The YPS fight was annoying but there was nothing particularly awful about it, but the EPS fight just goes on forever! I'm mostly talking about Phase 1 here since the Mix Flower made Phase 2 a lot better. But then we get to Shrowser. Wow, what a deflating final boss. They just had to make the final boss Bowser and we got this abomination. Shrowser, congratulations! You are in my Top 5 Least Favorite Mario & Luigi Bosses! 4. Superstar Saga: A few months ago, I would have put Paper Jam in this spot, but now that I think about it this finale is only fine. Like you said, you won't realize that the castle's in the sky unless the game points it out. I enjoy fighting the Koopalings and the Fawful fight is one of my favorites in the series, but Bowletta isn't a standout compared to other final bosses. It's better than Shrowser at least. On a related note, I will give this finale credit for not having an F-Tier boss in it. That's something that most other finales in the series can't be bothered to do. 3. Paper Jam: Now that I think about it, this finale is actually pretty good. It is generic, but that's a greater problem with Paper Jam so I don't hold it against this finale. What I do hold against this finale is Papercraft Bowser! I didn't like the Papercraft Battles so what genius decided to make me fight against all of them? And this is also the most unmemorable fight in the whole series to me. I know it exists, but I can't describe any of it's attacks! But other than that this finale is great. The best part in my opinion is the bosses. After Papercraft Bowser there's a battle against both Kameks which is one of my favorite fights in the series. Then there are the battles against the Koopalings. Roy and Wendy is fine, but bland. However, the other Koopaling fights all have great gimmicks. And then we have my 2nd favorite fight in the whole series: Shiny RoboBowser. I love how he can counter your Trio Attacks, his method of healing is really good by having a set amount of turns to stop the healing, and I love the music which probably sounds like a Kingdom Hearts song because the games have the same composer. I want to replay Paper Jam just for Shiny RoboBowser. 2. Dream Team: This is a great finale. Issues with the pacing aside, I enjoy Kamek scrambling up the rooms and having to chase him into the Dream World, and I really enjoy the fights with Kamek. The Dreampoints after it are fun, but unneeded. Then there's Giant Bowser. I hate this fight, but I don't have the energy to rant about it right now, and it's my only problem with this finale. But then the fight with Antasma is great, and while this isn't the finale itself I did get a huge amount of satisfaction from beating Antasma X. And then there's Dreamy Bowser. His attacks are fun and perfectly represent Bowser as a character, and that music! Dreamy Bowser is only in the middle of final bosses for me and I still think fighting it was worth enduring all of the problems with this game. 1. Bowser's Inside Story: Everything about this finale is wonderful. I like entering the entrance to the castle with Mario & Luigi and the fight with Junker, and then switching to Bowser after you beat it. Then you actually enter the castle and obviously the music is incredible. Finding the keys is fun and then there's a nonstop barrage of great bosses. Blizzard Midbus is my favorite Midbus fight, the Dark Star is an awesome showdown against the game's big threat and I love it's theme in the remake titled "And You Thought Paper Jam's Final Boss Theme Came Out Of Kingdom Hearts?" Then you get my favorite Giant Battle in the whole series, followed by the (kind of) final battle against Fawful, my favorite non-final boss in the whole series. And then we have my favorite boss fight in all of Mario: Dark Bowser. I love how he uses the power of the Dark Star and Bowser's attacks, and then the second phase is the true final battle with Fawful, which is really awesome, Bowser repeatedly punching Dark Bowser until it dies, and of course, In The Final/The Grand Finale. The remake of this finale was the perfect way for AlphaDream to go out. This comment took forever to write.

Partners in Time is my favorite finale! Defeating Younger Princess Shroob with one Red Shell when she’s down is epic to me! The final boss with Elder Princess Shroob is amazing to me… I remember being afraid of her the first time around when I was younger, took me two months to defeat her. When I did beat her, I was ecstatic.

Junker is actually a really good boss if you’re using the challenge medal or fighting Junker X. Sure it’s not an important character but the fight has a lot of attacks and personality

Tbh, one thing i wish superstar saga did was have it be that as you progress through Bowsers Castle, more and more of cackletta's influence gets added here. Like the area becomes a bit more purple or green, theres statues of fawful and cackletta, evil purple beanstalks, the minions becoming more cackletta or fawful like, etc. And by the time you're near the finale, the area would completely be cackletta(or bowletta) themed, with no signs of bowser anymore It would show how cackletta is slowly corrupting the castle.

Yoou know whats weird the first time i fought the final Kamek it was a nightmare, and I died and they kept healing and increasing stats, but then after I died and did it again and I used Luiginary Flame and it killed the White Kamek on the first turn, and then the next turn I did it again and the other 2 clones died so… What the hell?!

Okay, so I watched your video, and it's a little rough. For one thing, you kept padding the sin counter. Whenever I do these videos, I just give one sin most of the time and only give multiple when the situation calls for it. The most sins I've ever given a video as of typing this is 204. You gave it nearly five times that in one video. And in a lot of places where it doesn't fit. Second, my "Charriii answers himself cliche" isn't something to be used willy nilly. It only applies when he actually IS answering himself, and I also make sure to point out WHY he's answering himself. Don't just use it all the time. If you plan on doing more of these types of videos, keep these in mind. Overall, the video is okay. Not terrible, just okay.
