If you study any royal family (at least western), this is actually very normal and true to medieval and modern culture. It's very common to use a small host of reused names that are interchanged between generations, like King Henry the 8th, was, well, the 8th person of recognition with that name in his bloodline. And since the Targaryen family is Westeros' closest relative to a royal bloodline comparable to historical European royal families, it makes sense how their naming system follows a similar method as ours.

Aegon the Conqueror landing in Westeros, unfurling his new banner with a three headed dragon, and his words "FIRE AND BLOOD", is the single most badass thing that has ever happened in ASOIAF world! Im not even talking about his entire conquest but just that part alone is enough! He really showed everyone the meaning of "greatness". All of his other achievements and his life in general is dictated by the sheer charisma he had. Daemon the Rogue Prince noteable mention for just being that anti-hero badboy of the family. Rhaegar for his melancholic and passionate prince/warrior personality. Aemon the Dragonknight not mentioned enough but would love to know more about him as this stable and honourable/knightly Targaryen. Maegor the Cruel opitomises brutal and ruthless politics so always interesting. Daemon Blackfyre not a Targaryen but an honourable mention too.

When it was revealed in the show that Jon's true name is Aegon, I thought it was ridiculous because Rhaegar already had a son named Aegon as well. Watching HOtD now, I realized that the Targaryen urge of naming their children after the conqueror is almost irresistible, they didn't have enough Aegon's 😂😂

I noticed that you skipped a bunch. You alluded to the rebellion between Aegon 2 and his half sister Raenyrra known as The dance of dragons. Both are credited as king and queen of seven kingdoms unlike Raenys. But then you skipped to Aegon 4 (The unworthy). But there’s 4 kings you skipped. Aegon 3 (The dragonbane) Son of Raenyrra and Daemon Targaryen Daeron 1 (The young dragon) First son of Aegon 3 Baelor 1 (The Blessed) Brother of Daeron 1. Viserys 2 (no nickname) 2nd son of Raenyrra and Daemon Targaryen. Uncle to Daeron and Baelor.

I skipped a couple of generations after Rhaenyra because I didn’t want to spoil myself for HOTD on who becomes king/queen, which of their children do, etc. If I spoke about one of their children or grandchildren becoming king, it would have indirectly spoiled me because then I would know who succeeds in HOTD

The title and thumbnail format is inspired by another KZbinr I watch and I like the format because it takes a lot of information and condenses it into a video that isn’t super long.
