For the Mavs, their best free agent signing 100% that people aren't realizing, was DeAndre Jordan back in summer 2018. They ended up flipping DJ in a trade package for Kristaps Porzingis. Then, they flipped KP for Dinwiddie and made it to the 2022 WCF. Then they traded Spence in a package for Kyrie Irving a year later and made it to the finals with Ky in 2024. A huge path/domino effect that started with DJ lmao.

Matt, Grizzlies has to be Tony Allen over Tyus Jones. Signed in 2010 off-season. Was one of the Core Four through the early 2010s Grit and Grind playoff runs and really epitomized the play style of those teams. One of the best perimeter defenders in the league (Kobe said Allen was his toughest matchup). He's an absolute legend in Grizz history, Jones is not. Not that it matters for this list, but off the court, he's still living in Memphis and part of the community. On the Chris Vernon Show every Tuesday, too!

Mavs fan. Hoping the answer is Klay Thompson. But for actual results, I’d say Derrick Jones. Chandler Parsons signing was a joke. Dude was injury prone and always hurt himself just before playoffs every year. I was super glad the Grizzlies took him off our hands (in what is quite possibly the WORST free agent signing of all time)
