Not long after we had our NBN installed, a suit from the government came by in the morning to ask a few questions about the installation... It turns out the company quoted the government for tearing up our whole driveway (10ish metres of concrete) to install it.. And we were like.. O.o. It turns out just this morning so far (It was 11AM) he'd saved the government close to 100k lol. The whole thing was a scam

fuckin chorus in NZ must have got its training from the Aussie NBN. for a block of flats they were hooking up, it took 9 months to run the pvc conduit, and they fucked it up and had to do it again because they got the height of the box's wrong, and that was with a team of 20 blokes, a specialized digging machine, and 3 inspectors, for 4 of those months it was two blokes digging a hole next to a fence, and all of that wasn't even actually running the fiber, just the conduit. a plumber rocked up to redo the buildings water supply at about the 8th month, ran the same amount of the same size conduit and had water reconnected in one afternoon(and he actually ran it into each flat). Rang up chorus, told them this plumber outclassed them, and the next 3 weeks they had 40 people on site and it still took that 3 weeks.

True story. I had a place with NO internet that was "NBN ready". The first guy (Indian) comes and looks at it says he can't fix it and books a follow up. The second guy comes (White Aussie) says the same thing. Third guy comes and says in a Russian/Ukrainian accent "let me have a looks", I thought he'd f'd off and left me for dead, I shit you none four or five hours later I get a knock at the door... my Eastern European friend is covered in dirt/mud/bugs (I'm pretty sure something was moving on top of him) and goes "it is all fixed". God damn if he wasn't a hero... bro I appreciate it wherever you are now... fucking legend

I’m a fridgie and half the job is just critiquing people on using the wrong temperature on their fridge or freezer, or trying to explain that their compressor is dead because of all the dust in the condenser because they didn’t clean it. (This only applies to modern LG or Samsung fridges that have the small fan to suck air through the condenser, older fridges don’t have this problem). Also the NBN unreliability is why I use Starlink internet now
