Been there, my daughter was a cat napper as an infant so I didn't sleep for more than an hour formabout a year. Crying it out never worked either. I was a zombie and as someone who has always needed a lot of sleep and loves to sleep, it was the hardest adjustment to Parenthood. On the plus side, I was so wacked out and riddled with anxiety that I lost the weight quickly and was the skinniest I've ever been. My daughter is 7 now and loves to sleep, but it took her 3 years to sleep through the whole night. If I had another child I know I would be a lot more relaxed. Wouldn't change any of it for the world, my Laila is everything to me! ❤ 😴 ☕🍼😳🍷
@helenosa56213 жыл бұрын

You're lucky to get an hour or two. My ex preemie only slept 20 minutes at a time. TWENTY MINUTES. I will never forget how that felt for as long as I live. Now she's 18 (and sleeping all day now) I never let her forget it either.
@srhbluerain3 жыл бұрын
@@Izanuela22 I understand that and felt the exact same way, but please come back and give me an update when your daughter is a month or two old. I'm curious to know if that feeling will change for you. You never know, they are little humans, so your daughter might sleep 22 hours a day and never cry, whereas my beautiful Laila would sleep 20 to 30 minutes at a time and then be awake for an hour or two, sleep 30 minutes, and be awake for two hours, and on, and on, and on, for almost a year. 🤪😴... but please know that despite the adjustment, I was extremely grateful for my baby girl and tried to be present because since I had her and as I've gotten older time seems to go by faster than ever. It was such an amazing feeling to all of a sudden be a mom! I specifically remember sometimes at 3 or 4 in the morning while feeding or rocking her in the dark, I would feel lonely, like I was the only person awake. However, I was also aware that time would fly by and I most likely would not have another child so I truly tried to stay present and enjoy that time with her. Listening to her breathing, loving the feeling of her little hand wrapped around my finger, her warm teeny 6 pound body, and cute scrunchy face! I was beyond grateful to have a healthy and happy baby girl, who to me, was and still is perfect in every way. Try to remember that if you have those feelings because it really is the best thing I've ever done in my life. That was my spiel! When are you due?
@birdylove243 жыл бұрын
@@Izanuela22 Oh dear, I know, how you feel...♥️ When my son was a baby, I was so tired, that I always asked me, how can I be so tired and still live on... (He is 27 now and I can tell you, it worked! 😉😁) But this time goes by, quicker than you can imagine! I can give you this advice: Everytime your baby is sleeping, lay down an sleep too! Don't start doing house work or something like that; your baby don't need a tidy surrounding, but a patient and balanced mum. And another thing was livesaving for me: When he woke up in the night, I learned not to go to his bed without putting my socks on to keep my feet warm, so that I could go back to sleep later. (And in the night, I always covered my ears with ear plugs, because I'm very sensitive to noise...). But you will develop your own strategy, what will help you to get through, until sleeping times are back again, and they will come back, I promise! 😘🤗 Best wishes for you! ♥️

This is so true. It's not as bad with the first child because you can fit your routine around one child. But by the time you get to baby # 3 who is breastfeeding every one and a half hours every night and you still have to take care of two more highly active children every day.....I don't believe there is such a thing as "post-partum depression", a phrase conned by men.
