EVERY Nintendo Switch Mario Game RANKED

It's hard to think that the Nintendo Switch is now half a decade old. Considering how long it has been, I wanted to take a look at EVERY Mario Game for the Switch and rank them from worst to best. The Switch has had some of the BEST Nintendo games, but also some of the worst. I am also including games part of the extended Mario series. There likely will be more Mario games before a Nintendo Switch Pro or successor. But for now, these are all of them. Hope Super Mario Odyssey 2 will come soon!

The Mario games on switch had inconsistent quality, but it is a big improvement from Wii U and 3ds. There have been incredibly creative games that kind of compensate the worse games, but overall, most of the games are good or really good. P. S. Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Sparks of hope are produced by Ubisoft Milan, as an Italian, I feel really happy that everyone enjoys both of the games!

Super Mario Party needs to be talked about beyond the MarioParty mode. Like I get that’s what most people got the game for, but in a vacuum, the MarioParty Mode is just a third of the game. And the other games and modes in SMP are a ton of fun imo.

Yes!! I love Mario 3D, Bowser's Fury, and of course Mario Odyssey. I bought last month the Luigi Hotel new one, you mentioned, but I do not like it at all. Annoying grabbing ghosts...I will try another time to see if I can get into it. The Toad one looks cute. I am downloading the demo now. Thank you for mentioning it has a demo.

@@Demeech I am going to try again. I mean I bought on software so unfortunately can not give it away. Lol. This winter when it is freezing out and home even more.. Great video!! I am 61, only been playing 2 years...my 38 year old surprised me with the switch and Animal Crossing, when he came to visit me. He an avid player since about 6 years old. Lol. I played Zelda too and beat Ganon....3 of the shrines I could not do. Only got 966 of moons in Mario Odyssey but was still pleased. 😅 I had to cut back playing because I was gaining weight. I did not want to walk my 5 miles a day, etc....it was obsessive but fun!!!

My problem with Yoshi was that beating every level 100% was very annoying, the soundtrack was really childish and bland, and the pace of the game felt slow. The fact that you have to move the reticle independently from Yoshi makes movement slower. Comparativley, New Super Mario Bros is much more interesting to move in because of the faster pace and more dynamic movment. I also felt like the gameplay never lived up its full potential. For instance, whenever you go in the background, it's to continue progressing down a linear path.

My birthday's tomorrow, think I'll count this masterpiece of a video as an early birthday present. It has certainly been a trip experiencing and even though I encountered a few hiccups, it's not a journey I regret. The Battle League cultists are gonna have aneurysms seeing you rank the game so lowly. But Battle League can s*ck it while we do the Odyssey, Demeech! :)

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe gets way too much hate. The level design is pretty good with levels like the Van Gogh level, the star ice level, the fire bar level in Superstar road, the giant snake block fortress, and Roy's castle having two entrances being a callback to Bowser's Castle in Super Mario World. And then you have New Super Luigi U included, which has even better, albeit shorter, level design. My main gripe is that to you can accidentally twirl when you don't want to with the new control scheme.

I thing the reason why it gets alot of hate is because first off it's a port that doesn't add anything new for 60$ it's the fact that all of the games in the new series adds nothing new when ot was just ds and wii it was fun and new but than U and 2 just felt kinda the same

yeah the level design is great, but i think the issue is that the Wii U had the exact same levels, and did them better with better characters and modes. having NSLU included is also not a great argument since, again, most NSMBU copies now just. have it. so the switch version is just kinda. worse. Edit: in my opinion the thing it has most going for it is that it's portable now

18:15 Actually I did have something in mind for a Captain Toad Successor, I call it curse of the red stars. Toad opens up a jar keeping a bunch of red stars inside, they fly out and turn people evil cuz red is the color of malice apparently, The Toad brigade loses trust in their captain so not only do you have to fix your mistake, you have to earn the trust you originally had back. All while in between levels, this one eyed Ristar lookalike named Starlet Twinks broadcasts what's currently going on after a certain number of levels and gets possessed by a red star himself, and becomes the final boss. Also taking a few pages from Rabbids Go Home, It plays similarly but the levels are more open and secret areas are abundant.

The broken ai issue you have with Battle League could also be applied to a game like EA NHL, the second you make the difficultly all-star, it’s damn near impossible to win, when you score, expect the ai to go super saiyan and score right back. Here’s to hoping Nintendo doesn’t shelf the series after the bad reception of the game, and think we were just “remembering wrong”, in terms of the old games being classics.

I mostly agree with this list, but I would put Super Rush higher. Out of the three Mario sports games it definitely feels the most complete after all it's updates, and there's actually a load of stuff to do now. I haven't played a previous Mario golf game so take this with a grain of salt, but in comparison to Aces, Super Rush has a much better story mode and loads of other extra modes with enough courses to keep it kinda, tho not entirely, fresh. Given how much content was in the game by the time they finished updating it, I think it really is a shame this game wasn't released with all of it. But that's just my opinion.

@@dg_777player5 It's certainly got the best soundtrack in the whole series. It's probably my third favorite, behind TTYD and the original. The first game is my favorite, have a ton of nostalgia for it and watching Chuggaaconroy's LP on the game is just a magical feeling.

@@ranpan6082 I personally never really enjoyed the old Paper Mario games that much as I am not a fan of turn-based combat games and the gameplay in general didn't captivate me (which makes me a fan of the new paper formula of the last 3 entries). Paper Mario: The Origami King somehow made me enjoy a turn-based combat game which is something I never thought I'd be able to.

Yes! Respect to London 2012 and Vancoover 2010! It goes to show that Tokyo 2020, a Sega-devved game, is better at capturing the Mario Sports Charm seemingly lost lately. Now if only they still owned the Winter Olympics. Get It Together is a fun way to introduce friends or family to Warioware, while Gold is great for solo.

It's a shame that Nintendo doesn't really support some of these games anymore. Super Mario 35 is the worst of that treatment. Super Mario Maker 2 still exists and fun can be had, but it sadly get no more attention than Mario Maker KZbinrs give it.

I'm probably going to the the only person who doesn't hate the three sports games. Why, even Golf is among my top six games on the Switch. I think that Tokyo Olympics is good, but the dedicated Mario sports games are a tad more enjoyable to me. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I like New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe slightly more than Odyssey. Generally, the "boring, safe" NSMB games are a bit more appealing to me due to their tight gameplay. Plus, I like that you can choose anyone in single player, including my favorite girl Toadette. However, the praise for Odyssey is understandable; it is mighty creative. Believe it or not, Mario Party is my favorite series of video games. I am a proud owner of most of the console experiences, with some being my absolute favorite games ever. With that in mind, Super Mario Party is my favorite game on the Switch. It didn't completely restore Mario Party to its former glory, but was a huge step in the proper direction. Moreover, I like Bowser as a fully playable character and even dig his minions, like Goomba, Dry Bones, and especially Hammer Bro. The side modes are fun as well. I just wish there were more boards. Of course, Superstars is definitely what most fans prefer and is a great celebration of Mario Party. Regarding other games...I haven't gotten into Luigi's Mansion 3 or Paper Mario: The Origami King. Yoshi's Crafted World looks cute, but I'm a bit more intrigued with Woolly World. I played a demo of WarioWare: Get it Together!, to my mild amusement. However, the two Mario + Rabbids games and Super Mario Maker 2 I am mostly not into very much. I am somewhat surprised that you skipped over Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Mmm, perhaps the latter is less of a strict _Mario_ game and more of a huge Nintendo crossover. I thought that this was good, Demeech. I disagree with some points, but can accept it and move on. Take care...

@@Demeech Oh, yes. I played Superstars. It really is a fine game. I just prefer the original stuff, more modes, and extra playable characters from Super Mario Party. In some ways, it's similar to how I prefer Smash 4 over Ultimate, even though I really like Ultimate.

Here's a reminder that The Family Guy update for Warped kart racer's has finally released, it includes Chris Griffin as a new unlockable character, a new kart called the Fastest swimmer, and a new Family Guy track called Al Harringtons. Warped kart racer's is a Mario kart inspired 20th century adult cartoon Kart racer with 4 show's, including Family Guy, American dad, King of the hill, and Solar opposites. Well here my overall rank for each of the switch mario games and give a brief talk for my rank Warning: I will spoil a bit on sparks of hope and final fantasy 7 a bit, if you don't want to any spoiler don't read my comment Keep in mind my rank isn't based on mario games, switch games or nintendo games only is basically the placment I give to pretty any game I know in the world so don't be suprised if my rank are higher or lower than you expected, and 60$ isn't a problem for me the inflation of my place do it for my favor so isn't expansive for me per say Mario strikers battle league: low C tier, I know a lot of you have critical point of view on the game but is exist on the void of low C tiers that are unfinished in content or just avrage, I just cannot find it terrible as anyone saying, is still function as a game and isn't repulsing so that why I just can only rank it in low C tier, for not having mediocre boss lune up or feel like self aware copy of a bad title. Mario 35: low A tier I didn't play it either but is still solid battle royale mode for mario, but I still think due to super mario bros' first game syndrom and I wish it have other styles like SMB3/W but is still was great. Mario golf super rush: middle E tier, I find it as the weakest of the mario sports titles on switch hands down, I will appriciate the new donk city level but the boss line up really ruin it for me for being the second worst boss line up in mario only behind yoshi tupsy turvey. Mario tennis aces: middle E tier, I found slightly better than aces but mostly ended for me as the sonic 4 episode 2 of mario tennis with ultra trash being episode one ,which is basically ultra smash with a bit of self awerness. Super mario party: high C tier game, I happy this title put out mario party from the dark age of mario party but there not much reason to play it for the long run and the boards the only one I like is the temple one and the price of stars is too generous, but the character line up is great despite having some qustionable ones. Mario kart live: home circuit: low B tier to middle B tier, because of how the game work with your real life place that my best way to put it to be honest though don't create levels with your pets I don't think it be good New super mario bros U deluxe: low B tier slightly below normal U, yeah is still the worst wii u ports there no doubt but as a game is still function and still serve as a solid 2D title if you ignore the generic level design, but yeah handicaping 4 player is sucks. Paper mario and the origami king: middle B tier defenitley an improvment of color splash and sticker star, pretty good gameplay and story but I wish there was more parthners, olivia is much better than huey and kirsty but I just don't find it as my favorite. Captain toad treasure tracker, middle A tier, a great spin off for toad that much more demanding than the ones in 3D world, the DLC was nice and the gameplay is solid and intresting take, but I think if they were add something like cap throw or dive I think it could do wonders for the game, one of the best wii u ports. Mario sports super stars: high B tier, a really solid mario party with the fan service, I wish there were more boards and characters, but is basically mario party the top 100 2 and unlike how I see aces I don't find it as just self aware version of top 100. Yoshi's crafted world: low A tier a pretty solid 2D game on the switch, with intresting 2.5D gameplay and level design, but soundtrack is ehh and something you overlook gator boy that this game is a nightmare for complitionists, that is very tedious to 100% the game. Wario ware: get it togheter: middle B tier, a very intresting take for wario ware, with intresting story, micro games and gameplay but the character balance is not the best and i feel smooth moves was a better execution overall. Luigi's mansion 3, high B tier, a great mario game that while presentation isn't improtant to me put some PS4 games to shame and I own the console and play games for it so I know what I mean, it was have really good story, gameplay more simplistic but still fun, great bosses and co op and usage of gooigi, something that shouldn't be part of 1's remake on the 3DS but I wish the game have boss rush mode, the boss line up is solid enough for this type of mode. Super mario 3D all stars: middle B tier, yes I know there no galaxy 2 and is feel pretty bare but I spent more than enough time on it and really enjoy the 3 titles plus the option to play the titles with the pro controller is a plus for me, yes it could be improved but it was 2020 aka a really terrible year so I won't suprised isn't feel complete. Super mario maker 2: low S tier, technically the best 2D mario game for having huge freedom with the levels, it could have more updates for making it more complete, making levels isn't good as with the gamepad on 1, and the online sucks but is still offer a lot for hardcore to casuals and show creativity Mario kart 8 deluxe: midle S tier, the definitive mario kart hands down, is feel smooth to play,the courses are great, battle mode is back to better state than whatever was puted on normal 8 and the DLC hopefully will be a blast. Mario plus rabbids kingdom battle: high A tier, one of the best crossovers I know , it combine both series, th story was sweet, the combat is strategy was fun to do I enjoyed the most with rabbid mario's high risk high reward playstyle but unlocking character don't feel very rewarding and the game feel a bit on the shorter side Mario plus rabbids sparks of hope: low S tier, a very improved sequel over the original, the voices for the rabbid characters feel much more demanding, the exploration si rewarding, the combat feel much more exciting, the boss line up is great, and the story is one of the best in the mario franchise though the game isn't the easiest to return for complitionists, and the lack of consitent healing between level can be problematic for some, and demeech please bring how edge remind cloud strife from final fantasy 7 a bit because c'mon it be great. Mario and osnix at the tokyo olympic games: middle A tier, a solid collection of mini games to burn time, solid character line up, good story mode that don't feel last minute like aces or super rushed, though I there are some better games in the series but is the only mario sport title that worth the damn in my opinion to anyone Super mario 3D world plus bowser's fury: low to middle S tier, is my third favorite mainline mario game only behind galaxy 1 and odyssey, the improvments for 3D world make it really worth while like being faster, having the option to play without the need of the gamepad sometimes, though is still hard for complitionists to return due to how annoying is to 100% the game isn't as bad as crafted world but still, bowser's fury really put it much higher for me being more demanding to play than odyssey, and have the option to use power ups in the levels is great,despite there is repeat in the cat shiness for such a small mini mode, and rhe post game story wise don't feel rewarding as the main game. Super mario odyssey: middle to high S tier, one of my top 10 favorites games of all time, I enjoyed the levels a lot, controlling mario is on point, captiring while not as great as kirby's copy abilites I always enjoy good execution of taking power from enemies and bosses, the story is really good only behind mario galaxy 1 from the paltforming games, and while the post game is not the most eaisest thing to do in shorter bursts for complitionists is still demanding because of the sandbox levels. So yeah this is my overall rank on the title of mario no switch, and while I find it more of mario mario's hit or miss era the hits are out of this world

The deluxe is so good it should have been higher afterall its the only 2d mario game on switch and if you dont count mario maker 2. and then rated Toad treasure tracker at number 8 this is so wrong its the same game from wii U and from 3ds :D

Uh no demeech if the music is horrible in a game I don’ think someone is going to want to listen to it while playing the game. Yoshi crafted world. Yes the music in crafted world does hurt it and it is not the best platformer on the switch because of that. There are other platform's who get everything right like yoshi but also the music.

It's far from ideal. I can barely handle playing it because it causes eye strain. Super Mario Galaxy was made with the Wii in the mind, if it was going to get a re-release, it needed a full remake to work properly on anything else.

@@ranpan6082 on one hand, I'm glad that the masterpiece that is Super Mario Galaxy is available on the Switch for a new generation to play, on the other hand, I wish Super Mario Galaxy got the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury treatment, a standalone remaster that gives Super Mario Galaxy quality of life improvements and new content.

I see Kirby's Return to Dreamland getting a full remake with extra goodies, I wish Galaxy 1 and 2 would get a similar treatment and make the games play with more traditional controls that don't feel awkward. I know motion controls weren't a big aspect of that game, but literally giving Return to Dreamland Deluxe a traditional control scheme that I'm sure Hal will make work excellently in the remake, it's nice to see Wii games get this kind of treatment.

how would you make boost without a touchscreen? all Nintendo games i know work 100% in every mode, even if they where to keep the boost mode than that would break the standard they have + you admit that it was pointless anyway so why do you despise it so much? i agree that they made weird mistakes like not being able to play as Yellow Toad and Blue Toad at the same time but i don't think Toadette makes the game any easier. the super crown is basically the squirl power-up anyway, heck if anything she's a benefit to this game because if you play with 4 she's required (unless you play as Nabbit) she ads extra time (100 sec.) which gives you less stress and makes it more fun with 4

Motion controls, I guess. Like, many games that used motion controls on Wii are using the touch screen for their Switch ports in handheld mode. I'd suspect the opposite would be true.

You know what was else makes New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (long title, right?) a poor port? It let the creation of Bowsette, an overrated and useless Peach/Bowser clone with no personality only made for gross fan fictions that make the Nintendo fanbase (especially the Mario side) at it's absolute worst. On positive note, I hope we get a sequel to Odyssey. I know complains about it's flaws (such as too many moons) so a sequel could improved it similar to Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.
