27-year-old Diamondbacks rookie Tyler Gilbert threw a no-hitter in his first ever Major League start. Gilbert struck out 5 batters, walked Tommy Pham three times and totaled 102 pitches. Gilbert is the fourth pitcher in MLB history to throw a no-hitter in his first start. Bobo Holloman was the last rookie to accomplish this feat back in 1953. Gilbert joins Randy Johnson and Edwin Jackson as the only three Diamondbacks to throw a no-hitter. Gilbert is the first D-back to throw a no-no in front of a hometown crowd at Chase Field.
