$130 for a collar?! $70 for a flexi leash? This is what lobbying does, contractors pay politicians millions, so they let them sell $130 collars to the military. And the military doesn’t care, because it’s taxpayer money anyway. There is no way in hell this collar is worth $130. A friend of mine makes heavy duty collars and leashes and even a set of both doesn’t come anywhere near $100

I appreciate the handler explaining the choke chain very well. It’s not mean. Kicking the dog is far worse to the dog than flicking the leash with your wrist causing the choke chain to “pop” kinda little a gentle smack on the shoulder to get your friends attention when they’re too distracted to react to verbal. The flat collar won’t do this unless a dog is trained (usually) because dogs don’t care about flat collars. It’s just not enough to break their distraction. But the leash poop is to correct the dog. Leash pressure is to guide the dog. Like lifting up just enough to put a small bit of pressure on the collar and the dog sits it. No more tension. Pull a different way. Dog lays down. No more tension. Dog is in heel pulling forward. Tension. Still pulls forward “no” pop heel. Dog slows and gets back in the grove with you. That’s how it’s suppose to be done. It’s not beating the dog. It’s light pressure and correction’s equivalent to the severity of their disobedience (which is choosing to ignore what you’ve taught. NOT being unable to complete the task because they’re confused. That’s on you) for example pulling fairways in heel. Small pop. Running after a car. Big pop. Why? One is minor. The other gets you killed. One is hey you’re messing up. The other is don’t ever do that again. And it doesn’t hurt the dog because there’s never a lot of force even in harsher corrections. It’s more a speed thing. You should know about how tight the leash should feel. And then it’s just speed and a slight increase in pressure.

The dog shoes are also great for when it rains or is muddy outside and your dog needs to go out to go to the bathroom. Choke chains are good I like prong collars but you have to be very careful it’s not meant to hurt the dog it’s meant for a discomfort so be gentle! It’s a correction not a punishment! Doggies are also great if your dog likes to stick their head out the window while driving. Last thing you want is a bug hitting your dogs eye at 20+ mph. Also prong collars can be flipped inside out if you have stay dogs in your area , if they go for the throat it normally deters them. Collapsible kennels are also great so if you’re at a family gathering or party at a friends and need to stay the night after drinking. Takes up very little space in my 4 door Jeep wrangler

@@colton_hsd It literaly is hurting them tho? Its the entire point to build negative stimuli to stop a behaviour. Not a great idea as it leads to more violent, aggressive or nervous dog. I guess those traits could be useful in a military dog but I'm not a fan of it either
@codymeyer52792 жыл бұрын
All of these tools that he mentioned in the video have their purpose. Including a metal slip collar/training collar. And that specific tool has a purpose to communicate to the dog when his actions are desirable or undesirable. That specific piece of equipment if used correctly does not hurt the dog.
@yvonnecowan59942 жыл бұрын
My first guy dog used a ““ choke chain. My second one has used an Martingale which is mostly nylon with a little bit of chain added at the top. It’s not meant to cause pain it’s more like a slap on the wrist they are really thick muscles on their necks and so it doesn’t really hurt them were taught not to hold and choke or talk to yank and release its equivalent of slapping a child on the hand to get their attention.
@ZSmith-yy4lv2 жыл бұрын
@@calmac938 as with every tool, using it wrong doesn’t work. Human analogy: think of the choke chain as a spank. You do something real wrong as a kid? You get a spank. Your behavior improves. Usually it only takes a few before you stop needing them. Same with the choke chain. Where does this go wrong? Some people who are either bad trainers or not trainers at all use it way too much. They use it for every little mistake, and they often use it much too aggressively. So now: think what happens when a kid is beaten over every little mistake. Suddenly, you have a violent and uncooperative child if they haven’t been beaten into submission.
