Gonna have to make a few corrections. 1. DK Jr. most recently appeared in 16-Bit form in Mario Kart Tour. 2. There is one Dr. Mario game where the titular doctor doesn't appear at all, Dr. Luigi. 3. Yoshi was absent in a few Mario Sports games, namely Mario Golf GBC and Mario Tennis Power Tour, and was also playable in the remake to Super Mario 64, 64 DS. 4. Koopa Troopa was also playable in Mario Power Tennis, and in Mario Parties 4 (as a bonus character in the Beach Volley Folly game) and 9, plus Super Mario Party and Jamboree. 5. Wario is absent in Mario Party Advance and Mario Tennis Power Tour. 6. You're not counting Yoshi's appearances as a mount, but you are counting Donkey Kong's Animal Buddies? 7. Expresso was playable in his own minigame in the GBA version of Donkey Kong Country 2. 8. Baby Mario and Dixie Kong were also playable in the original Mario Superstar Baseball. 9. Lakitu is also playable in Mario Kart Tour. 10. Metal Mario also showed up as a playable character separate from Mario in Mario Tennis Open and Mario Sports Superstars. 11. Boo was actually playable in eight Mario Party games and every Mario Golf game since Toadstool Tour, with the exception of Advance Tour. 12. Shy Guy was also playable in Mario Super Sluggers.

The shade toward the playable humans in the sports games feels kinda mean. I like that we get to see a variety of members of the human species in the Mario world, when most games don't use humans outside the Mario Bros, Wario Bros & princesses (and Pauline). At least these humans fit the aesthetic of the Mario world rather than randomly being realistic despite living in a city in the Mario world with a Mario styled human running it. I'm not really a big sports person but I'd be down to play as Plum in Mario Golf. Putting some of them in Mario Kart to acknowledge their place in Mario's legacy shouldn't be out of the question either. It's the same reason I want RPG characters (even if those are way more popular). Edit: you skipped over the Pixls from Super Paper Mario. While i guess there's an argument for most of them only serving as tools, at least Tippi, Tiptron, and Fleep should be included because you directly control them for their abilities.

@@fawfulthegreat64 Thanks Jamey for saving me the trouble to watch the video. I myself loves the Camelot Original Human Characters and I won't stand hearing anyone talking crap about them. They aren't really one note, we learn a lot of interesting stuf about some of them, this is thanks because the game is like an rpg. Characters that were main characters like Kid and Alex have some nice moments in the GBA games, as they are allowed to speak and the rivals and partners also have some background lore that make them interesting as well, like Elroy and Tori being arrogant to the player but change their ways during the story, there are some cute flirting and funny moments with some characters as well. Honestly I think the humans are more deep than most Mario characters and Im not joking, maybe they dont get as deep as some in Mario & Luigi/Paper Mario but compared to the everyday Bowser minion and corporate style of Mario characters we have been getting since 2009 that only now is starting to get better, the Camelot humans are leagues better than almost any other original character from this era.

DK wasn’t excluded from Super Mario Kart for being to big, it was just that they felt he wasnt recognizable enough from the back while driving the kart. Also you made the common mistake of ruining the great pun in DKC 2’s title it’s Diddy’s Kong Quest not Diddy Kong’s Quest Ice Climbers were left out of SB 4 because the 3DS didn’t have enough power for a fighter that is 2 fighters in one and they wanted to keep the roster the same for both the Wii U and 3DS versions so they just cut them.

The main inconsistency is how alternate costumes are handled. Characters that have alternate costumes in mario kart are considered different characters but ones in smash didn’t such as alph, pikachu libre, warioman and gender variants weren’t. Also the different costumes in yoshi’s woolly world weren’t considered different characters but the differently coloured yoshis in yoshis island were. I think the best way to solve this problem and similar ones that could show up in future videos is to establish rules for what does and doesn’t count within the games you’re including

Nintendo is inconsistent with their lineups, but objectively SM64DS is at least as much of a mainline title as the Switch port of NSMBU (moreso imo because it's a full remake with unique content rather than just the same exact game with one added character for easy mode). I wouldn't use that one image that weirdly counts NSMBUDX but excludes 64DS as evidence SM64DS isn't mainline.
