Every pro golfer I know can hit this essential iron shot on command, yet ams I see every single day struggle with it ... but why??
⛽️🔥 Milo’s Favorite Drill to COMPRESS the Golf Ball: milolinesgolf....
In our experience, most golfers struggle to produce a dynamic, pro-like impact. The strike is most often not compressed and the swing lacks the movements required to produce consistent ball striking, especially when hitting irons. By learning to execute this flighted iron shot we demonstrate in this video, golfers are then better able to train at lower speeds, control their ball flight, and produce a better impact position. And we label this iron shot as essential as we see the best players throughout history demonstrating this shot on a regular basis. Look no further than Jordan Spieth, Tommy Fleetwood, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, or Wyndham Clark for evidence of this crucial shot. And once mastered, you'll stop flipping at impact for sure!
We hope you enjoy this video and do encourage you to add this simple shot to your next practice session to springboard your ball striking. We look forward to your feedback!

I hit 3 of these yesterday and they were the best 3 shots I hit ALL DAY. A great base for the fuller shot. Thanks Milo. Thanks Henry. Don't forget the Superstition Mountain facility and local area tour, so we can see how real people live.

Please reference “Slicefixers” 9-3 drill . This centerpiece of this drill is to hold the extension of the trail wrist thru to your truncated finish . As Milo mentioned holding the extension of the trail wrist requires more of an emphasis on the pivot. As an added benefit , holding the extension of the trail wrist while pivoting the ribcage will also result in a bent trail arm at impact . One question -what do Milo and Henry think of the Prosendr and the PrecisionImpact training aids to help achieve holding the trail wrist extension

Tommy Fleetwood switched to this shot because it's so good. His little sawed-off swing is not his real swing. He was doing this drill and loved the ball flight so much he stuck with it. Milo knows exactly how to teach this. Yah, you have to go to the website and sign up, but I promise it's worth it. It made golf about 3000 times easier for me. That being said, IT'S HARD to change your swing. Just remember, chunks whiffs and shanks mean you're getting somewhere. Practice a lot. It's fun. No I'm not paid so friggin zip it.

just thought of a cheap training aid for this drill! a kitchen carpet tile with a slot cut out of it,like some putting trainers, gradually put ball back in slot nearer carpet tile

Outstanding video!! Recentering too late....then the arms behind......I never made that connection. (4:30 mark) It seems counter intuitive (like a lot of golf) But the earlier recentering gets things into the delivery position better, and with the complete package, right? I have seen the Fleetwood drill before, but your explanation really was valuable. It is said the recentering should begin somewhere just before the end of the backswing.....agreed? I tended to recenter as the backswing ended but I can now see it must happen much earlier. Thanks to you guys.

In a perfect world, I like to see a clear transition to the lead side as the club and arms are still working a bit up, yes.

Hey Milo, shout out to Henry, he is right I have been trying this swing style ever since Mike Malaska introduced you to the youtube public . . is that over 4 or 5 years . . anyhow I think I am starting to get it. Its definitely one of my most longest lowest straightest shots I have ever hit, yes you are both correct my old swing which is all arms always rares its ugly head . . thank you gentlemen.

Would it be fair to say one could almost think about this move as a long "full-swing" chipping motion?

I suppose, like a flighted chip/pitch shot. Sort of hinge and hold as Phil would say.

@@MiloLinesGolf Thanks for the feedback! I look forward to playing with this, although if I can do it at all, it'll be some work. I've been striving to be toe-up at parallel back and through for 40 years. And yes, my clubface control is less than stellar.

What if we hit too low? When doing more extension and shaft lean the ball doesn’t go nearly far enough. Or high enough.

What about driver? Surely you’ll lose speed if you ‘hold’ that trail wrist
@MiloLinesGolf
@MiloLinesGolf 4 ай бұрын
This is an exercise, at fuller speeds things get let out naturally, but we typically aren't actively trying to release the club, especially prior to impact.
@pohoresky
@pohoresky 4 ай бұрын
Yes for a full iron shot you do not want to lose the ANGLE in the trail wrist as you rotate the chest downward. For a chip shot this is a complete disaster. You want to release the right wrist and left wrist to hit down on the ball as if you are using a hammer releasing the clubhead with the wrists. The hinge and hold method for chipping is problematic for many to be consistent.

Tell Jordan Spieth and Phil Mickelson that
@pohoresky
@pohoresky 4 ай бұрын
Why would I do that. Their method (hinge and hold) is for a very small minority of pros that have have mastered that technique after many hours of perfection. It has been thoroughly debunked for the majority of players. Not for everyone and unless mastered, should never be used for chipping. Not so for full shots.

Who came up with this term "flighted"... The old term "knock down" makes more sense and was an accepted term for many years. Probably some tv commentator trying to come up with his own thing. Good video tho! 😁
