Who do you think is the better of the 2? I tried to be as extensive as possible. It may be the case that I didn't find all of Mariah's notes. That very fact is telling because her range is so absurd. I personally do not have a winner or a favorite. I find both singers use very interesting techniques.

reducing Whitney to her head voice is insane. Her head voice was more developed because her entire voice was more developed. Her placement alone should put her above of this comparison. Notice how her pitch is accurate 99% of the time.

At 23:30, while she did move intentionally, it wasn't a mic technique. She was feeling the song out, and was "feeling" the mood. It went with the "vibe", and so the kind of posture she did came out naturally.

@@helloworld17778 lt's not like she has never sustained belts anyway, she does it sparingly and i tend to agree with her.. long notes are boring.. 'mine again' is a good example of a Mariah song with lots of sustained high belts.
@daydream10.18
@daydream10.18 7 ай бұрын
@@helloworld17778 she could if she wanted to. But nodules make it pretty taxing on her voice so phrasing is much more ideal. Also, could we please stop acting like what she's doing is an easy thing? Literally phrasing high belts is MUCH HARDER than sustaining them. Having awful technique while phrasing high belts is like stabbing your vocal cords.
@helloworld17778
@helloworld17778 7 ай бұрын
@@daydream10.18 we already know it's the nodules that stop her from going all out. i just find it hilarious that lambs always bring the "mariah finds sustaining notes boring" bs when obviously she doesn't find sustaining mid belts boring and WILL sustain them for a long time for absolutely no reason. she's just as showy as any other divas (as she should. show us all you have). stop pretending like oh every choice she makes is intentional and artistic. sometimes it's simply because her vocal condition does NOT allow her to sing how she wants to. sustaining and phrasing are different skills. most singers find one easy and struggle with the other. whitney is also the type of singer who can phrase high notes very well but can't sustain them for a long time because her voice is just not built for it.
@daydream10.18
@daydream10.18 7 ай бұрын
@@helloworld17778 I mean, it is true to some extent because she has rarely done them in her prime. She only relies on mid belts nowadays because her upper isn't accessible as it used to so she does what she can do at the moment to entertain the fans.
