I actually love the ai sample from on or off the drugs due to how deep of a rabbit hole it is, being a weird mutation of a contemporary future track, and Peggy then in turn basically “took it back” by tastefully sampling it and making it his own (although I’m definitely reading into it too much).

drums were better in the 60s and 70s cause engineers knew their shit. how to use hardware SSL compressors, how to mic a kit. recording to tape. we still have a lot of that, but many of the techniques that were very commonly used, and known amongst engineers, have become arcane knowledge

The shaker and drum break from Think (about it) is very commonly used in rap, hiphop, techno, drum and bass, etc. It is often used as a variation of the amen break and is called think break due to the song's title.
@nowhereweareagain2 ай бұрын
I think the 60's drum thing has both to do with the way that analogue recording and old mics forced a certain warmth on to tracks from that era and that drum design back then was a little different, for instance Bass drums were often way more shallow, so they had less bottom end resonance.

lol, the thing about drums being better in the 60s and 70s is actually true. That is because back then, drums weren’t looped in software, so you heard more depth to the sound. Most music softwares use drum samples which lack or remove the complexity of the noise really hitting a drum makes.
