My husband and I were on this show in 1985! We won everything including the car! Wish I could find our episode

This may sound like a dumb question… But they didn’t give you a copy of the tape for being a contestant? I always wondered if game shows did that.
@ranimerens5413 Жыл бұрын
No, they didn’t give us a tape of it. Just the prizes. I recorded it on my VCR but tape is old, viewed many times, and a mess now. Tried to transfer it to a DVD but it didn’t come out.

This was a joy to see, and I miss Bill more for it-he was hilarious and made the game his. I feel every host has a definitive game, and this is it. I enjoy the format overall-the main game is rather simple, but the laughs make up for it. Solid bonus round. I agree-this should have had a longer American run.

Wink Martindale uploaded a pilot of a revamped version of this show called TRICKY BUSINESS. Same producer, Bill back as host, but this time it was single players earning money instead of time, and a new bonus round in which the winning player had to identify the two categories a list of items contained, with the car still the top prize for getting 6 in 60 seconds. The theme music was the Spike Jones version of YOU ALWAYS HURT THE ONE YOU LOVE(instrumental portion).

I've done some research regarding that Saturday college football promo at 23:36, and it was on September 14, 1985, making this the final week KCOP aired Every Second Counts (Sept. 9-13), airing at 3 a.m. that week.
@Wheeloffortunefan9999 жыл бұрын
yes it was picked up. it aired in syndication for a year

BUT as mentioned numerous times, the only two of the five major markets that cleared it were Los Angeles and Chicago (and San Francisco, Washington, and Detroit among the then-top 10); several others including Dallas, Philadelphia, Boston, Phoenix, Atlanta, and of course *NEW YORK CITY* said "Forget it!"
@ItsBlackjack1158 жыл бұрын
And then it became huge hit in Britain after the BBC picked it up and began airing the UK version in 1986, which lasted 7 years.
@andrewschroy63688 жыл бұрын
I've been told San Francisco DID carry it-- on KOFY. (Well, KTZO at the time...) And an ad for the show on Game Show Wiki says Washington, D.C. did carry it-- on WJLA.
@johnnyballenatl8 жыл бұрын
Well, WSB here in Atlanta could've picked up Every Second Counts since WAGA and WXIA already had "PM Magazine" and "Hour Magazine" (both of them also Group W shows) respectively.
@gladfan19897 жыл бұрын
And Sacramento's KOVR carried ESC.

Every Second Counts had a British version host by the late TV magician Paul Daniels and a Australian version host by controversial television presenter Paul Henry.
@andrewschroy63683 жыл бұрын
That latter version was actually from New Zealand, not Australia. Just saying. BTW, Spain had a version for Antena 3 as well, called Los Segundos Cuentan. Only lasted from 1990-91 over there.

The airdate of this episode is from 9/9-9/13/1985,could well be a rerun from March 1985 however. The airdate here comes from a web search showing that those college football teams played together on games played on those dates

I wonder if this aired on many of the Group W O&O stations (being that it was co-produced by Group W Productions).
@andrewschroy63683 жыл бұрын
While I did picture this show being on KPIX (which Group W owned at the time) in SF, KOFY (then KTZO) actually had it over there. Channel 20 also carried Anything for Money that year.

Would make since why I never even heard of it until a decade ago. Then again, I don't think that Group W liked to do game shows.

Was it in the Pittsburgh market? I know WPXI did overnight game shows (how I heard of Trump Card) and WPGH did them, too. Was it a game show that ended up on USA Network for its block, as well? I don't know their lineup pre 1988, and even that Era is fuzzy to me besides Press Your Luck.

I’m going to tell you the truth, this is the kind of game show scandal I want to see. No clever coughing fool, No bad-luck Barry who went on a show and won past the limit, No rigging, No name-changing nincompoop, Just a story about when good becomes evil.
