Wow that was impressive reversing!!!! Well done Sam for helping you out and putting your mind at ease. Never heard of sheep scab but it sounds horrendous for them so well done you for treating them so promptly (even if it did take 3 vets and you requesting the bloods!!). Love your videos 😊

WOW, so glad that worked out for you. Can the gov’t possibly make it harder for farmers??? Out here in CA, wool clothing is prohibitively expensive for most folks, so it’s interesting to hear how wool is worth so little in England. I would love to buy good quality wool clothing. I wonder where all the wool is coming from? It must be incredibly profitable for wool clothing manufacturers to pay so little for wool then turn it around for such a high markup. Unreal. Wishing the best for you all.

Good on you for getting ahead of a problem. It’s interesting to see the resources you have available being in an area with a trade culture around sheep.
@stephaniewilson3955 Жыл бұрын
What has been done about the area you held the sheep in and that roadway they were lined up in? I would have used that 'waste' bug killer to make sure the scab mites were eliminated, but what do I know about it?

You don't realize how fortunate you are. In the US I highly doubt any such service exists. Just not enough sheep per mile to warrant it. May all the nightmares be over now. Nothing but a great lambing in your future.
@gilliantovey1014 Жыл бұрын
You’ve not had it good over this last year, surely it’s got to end now with a good a profitable lambing. That reversing was impressive. Odd how it’s easy to get in somewhere but a nightmare to reverse out again

I bought some store lambs with lice got them to slaughter but they infected the replacement ewe lambs. I tried everything to control it and never really succeeded till I was able to get them dipped by a Neil Fell gang that were doing 1500 lambs for a friend. I know that sense of relief they stay clean too.

Had scab last year. In Dorset around Christmas. On point of lambing it terribly. Couldn't jac or dip.had two pb texal that kill there lamb they were that bad with. Got rid of it with dectomax two jabs 10 day a part.
@michaelscott7128 Жыл бұрын
Dipping is the only answer for scab/mites. If you get it early it's grand but the sheep can loss a lot of condition otherwise. Good job the lorry system. The injection isn't a great job, tried it and 4 to 5 weeks later thet were scratching again. Scab it a disaster, you're lucky you got it early

A sheep farmer who knows sheep better than his local vets ? Surely not! No idea what the rules are now, but sheep had to be dipped twice each year by regulation until the mid '80's

Got sheep scab even though closed flock and no sheep nearby. Must have come on a friends clothes. They looked awful so itchy poor things. Your right to dip the injectable was useless!

Do you not use Ivermectin to kill parasite's? Or chlorine Dioxide - what the army use to make manky water safe to drink that also kills parasites ? I use Chlorine Dioxide myself after seeing people use it to treat Artists I found Jim Humbles website very interesting 👍
