@Fred Tucker bit harsh. It’s not like he’s in the trees every hole. It’s little things here n there that are costing him shots. Wrong club selection and over thinking too many shots. Trying to play too many knock downs and shaped shots. Should just stick to a stock ball flight and go from there. Tournament play is the worst for working on something in your swing as well, that’s what practise is for.

@Fred Tucker bet you’ve never broken 70
@mylesd60993 жыл бұрын
@Fred Tucker I wouldn’t say so. I’ve played at that level and higher, the difference between shooting 5 over and a couple under isn’t much over 18 holes of golf. You just seem bitter to me.
@mylesd60993 жыл бұрын
@Fred Tucker 😂 ok mate, you keep on hating from behind your computer screen.
@mylesd60993 жыл бұрын
@Fred Tucker you said I’m clueless for saying the difference in 5 over to a couple under isn’t huge. 7 shots over a round is not a lot when you’re missing short putts and greens from 100 yards or so and not getting up and down. That part of the game can be sorted easily it’s just about putting it together on the course. It’s not like he’s shooting 95 and I’m saying it could of been around level par.

Unlucky with the round James, I use 2 things to help me on the course, motocaddy app to get any hazard yardages to avoid and a bushnell. Both things combine save me at least 2 shots a round cause I end up changing club from what I would use. The app I find better than the bushnell, keeps me away from danger, might be worth a download 👍⛳️

Great stuff as usual James, I'm still here watching each vid.. just random suggestion, have you thought about trying to maintain a bit more tension in the hips on the backswing? just keeping them square for as long as possible, increasing the angle difference between hip turn and shoulders.. would help reduce the inside move, improve stability and give them a head start to clear on way down, which would reduce that move where you have to use your hands.. should work well with the fade philosophy. anyway, really enjoying these ! good to see Ryan on the bag.

James, u r a great ball striker just try to hit it straight. Jimmy Bullard said he played with Francesco molinari and he is just a straight ball flight player and look where he got. U seem to try to do too much( high this, low this, draw this) if I had your talent I would not keep trying different shot shapes 🤷♂️
@liam90203 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, play one repeatable shape. Decade golf
@rowdyroddy5193 жыл бұрын
agree 100%. Play your stock, straight shot as much as possible. By straight I mean, it goes out straight to the apex, and falls left or right a yard or two....and then let the wind do it's thing. I am a +4 player, and rarely am I trying to work a ball or try to knock it down. I also play in 20 - 25 mph winds every day. ..and I take pride in the fact, 90% of the time I am pin high. I attribute that to keeping things simple for calculating what club to play. The stock straight shot is the simplest and most reliable shot to play, 90% of the time. I know what the wind will do to the ball much better than any kind of fancy shaped shot that has more variables, and lower % chance of success, and less practice time, as your stock shot. Most of the time a fancy shot doesn't come off right, and you just end up in trouble. Oh yeah.. that spot aiming with putting... that also works with all your other shots as well. ;) So, try and play whole rounds with the boring, stock, straight shot, and no fancy stuff. Boring...good. :) Fancy... bad :( cheers.

Someone asked both Tyrrell Hatton and Shane Lowry a question on shot shape. They both looked dumbfounded and said something along the lines of "I just look to my target and hit it there".
@gingerjoeracing3 жыл бұрын
i dont think you quite understand the difficulty of hitting a straight shot haha
@rowdyroddy5193 жыл бұрын
@@gingerjoeracing It's not as difficult as you think.... just a matter of practicing. ...and hitting a draw or fade that moves 10 or 15 yards consistently, is just as difficult. It's pretty common to over curve, or under curve those shots, and end up in more trouble than a straighter ball flight would. ..even more so when you add wind into it. Again..it's just a matter of practicing to hit the ball straight.

@kingshark59383 жыл бұрын
1. Go check out bernard Langer, on how to hit draw and fades. He simplifies greatly. ... cause I can't see the club face , but seems you trying to manufacture fades and draws with swing mechanisms. Yeah to a degree. But a fade is, ball slightly center face to toe, 1.5 degree open club face, and just open your stance(lead foot back a bit). Take ur natty swing, the mechanisms for it to fade is already statically in place. Draw,... slight closed shoulders and stance(lead foot ahead), shut face 1deg Make it simple, ... and nice natty knock down 5i and 8i shots. Not out smarting yourself. Taking more club, swinging for a neutral ball flight. As someone said in the last video..... you, yourself said you would cut it with the dynamic shots and just focus on neutral stock ball flight shots. Do that. ... n sort them irin shafts. Plus those shanks are bad , good signs, mean you consciously trying not to get inside, well infront of u can create the opposite of inside you. Right misses, shanks. Leave your swing along and just stick to your guns of neutral shots, and dont be afraid of clubbing up to knock down. Like u did with a 8i 140 away. See how that worked.
@John_Wood_3 жыл бұрын
Darren Clarke taught me a similar set up for fades and draws. Same swing for both shots, the flight is pre set in the set up.
@kingshark59383 жыл бұрын
@@John_Wood_ ... exactly, that's where we get in trouble, some people can set up square and pull off the great in to out slice action and cut fade the ball. N some can set up square and swing around themselves producing a draw. But to be consistent, one must learn to statically preset those shots at address and just swing normal, and only add to it, if you need a bigger fade(slice) or bigger draw(hook).
@dard6833 жыл бұрын
cant understand how.so many of your approach shots are well short and right....need to hit enough club to reach center of greens ay least...Your head moves too quickly after putt eyes down ...1, 2, good lu k
@mylesd60993 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest problems amateur and average pro golfers have is under clubbing or not knowing their yardages when taking into account the wind a slope. Probably costs them 5/6 shots a round easily.
@samanthagames10233 жыл бұрын
I'm sure that your scoring will improve tremendously once you feel that you can trust your tee and approach shots enough to focus on the target and forget about technique. Your chipping and pitching looks much better to me and your putting looks very good - forget about the 3 putt(s) - you were an absolute mile away from the hole on several occasions. I would expect to see some mildly critical comments based on the video but it still shows real improvement IMO. Keep going.

Really like this lad and seems totally genuine but makes this game far to complicated. Playing or trying to play knock down shots? Why? Flags aren’t whipping and average normal conditions. Making hard work of it. I feel approach shots are a real issue here. Be interesting to see your states dude, look like your putting a lot of pressure on short game however that part of the games also appears to need sharpening and serious work from 80-10 yards. You keep talking about waiting for your 'game to come together'. From the content you are posting it is clear you know how to play golf. But at the same time you don't know how to play. Some of the shots you are missing off the tee are very similar to what I would see a 20 handicap hitting. Back in your old vlog posts years back you were playing at scratch level, you were aggressive off the tee and on approach shots to the green. Now it looks as if you are over thinking the game and not committing to your shots. Bubba Watson never took a lesson in his life and look where he is at. At this stage in your career you should try get back to your old game and become more aggressive. Because looking at the above content the scores wont come together. 4:08 im not sure what you are trying to do with a 5 iron in your hand? You used to be tapping in birdies with high ball flight to the green. Also focus on your own style of striking the ball. You will only get lost in yourself if you are trying to perfect a fade or draw. Choose one and stick to it. Dustin Johnson rarely if ever at all switches from a fade to draw shot. Stick with what you know best. You have the game.
