GAH! I love Lynn Painter, she’s a local author in my city and it brings me so much joy to see everyone talking about a small city midwestern author ❤️ Better than the Movies she uses actual locations here in town and it gave me so much nostalgia growing up here. It was such an accurate depiction of growing up in our city (which is really just a big town 😂) even the tone voice was so reminiscent of my peers growing up.

Abby Jimenez is one of my all-time favorites. You should definitely read her first three books: The Friend Zone, The Happy Ever After Playlist, and Life’s Too Short (definitely read The Friend Zone before Happy Ever After Playlist). They are all kind of in the same universe, which is a parallel universe to Part of Your World and Yours Truly. The Friend Zone was one of the first books in a long time that made me laugh out loud. Abby Jimenez will always be an auto-buy author for me. I don’t even need to know what the book is about to want to read it.

Thank you for the realistic thoughts on Happy Place!! People have been taking a really elitist stance on this book. The whole “if you didn’t like this book, you didn’t get it” is weird bc the author is supposed to help you “get it”. And agreed 100% with your thoughts on the ending. It’s the first EmHen that didn’t feel wrapped up. I’m hoping to reread it in a year or so and feel differently once we move away from the hype. Idk, just my thoughts.

Yes yes yes! Finally someone said it!! I thoroughly enjoyed the Twisted series by Ana Huang, however Twisted Hate was also my favorite just because Josh was the ONLY hero that was different from the other 3, and hence was a breath of fresh air IMO. All the other heros could’ve literally been the same character!!! Also can I just say that after watching you from the beginning of time, I can definitely see how much your taste in books have shifted and changed, you have a more mature outlook on books compared to the beginning and I love seeing that from you! ❤❤❤❤

Emma Scott's a great writer! I highly recommend The Butterfly Project for an emotional book with a sweet happy ending. It's just cozy winter NYC vibes, and Zelda & Beckett are everything! It's gotta be my fave of hers so far. (Zelda is introduced in All In, though I read TBP, then All In.) I do love Full Tilt. I read it few years ago and the 2nd last year, and it might've been even better. It's not easy but it gives closure.

OMG Can't wait to read Happy Place because my friend's, who were living together, broke up and kept it a secret from our friend group for 9 months. We went on multiple vacations during that time and they never said anything. I know it sounds nuts, but it happened and I was devastated when I found out. They didn't want the group dynamic to change so that is why they kept it a secret.

I've seen so many negative reviews of Happy Place and I completely see why if you can't relate to the main character. I related to Harriet so much. Extreme people pleaser. Always doing things that would make others proud even if it didn't fill me with joy, always shoving down my own feelings so I wouldn't be a burden to others. This book was 5 stars for me because sometimes finding your own happiness means making choices that are right for you despite knowing that the rest of the world might consider you wrong or dumb or a disappointment for doing so. It's a lesson I learned way too late in life. Also, I think you are spot on about if you prefer People We Meet on Vacation, Happy Place is for you. My favorites from Emily Henry. New follower here!
