Watching this series back, I really enjoy how all the face card games taught our main characters very needed lessons that they can take back into real life. Usagi learned the value of living for herself after loosing her parents in the Queen of Spades game from the kid, and here Chisiyua learned about what happens to you when you don’t stick to your ideals in a corrupt world/system, for example. All of the games prompted very personal and necessary character development without anything feeling forced. Brilliant meeting of plot and character writing.

King of spades quickly turned into my favorite game out of any from the 2 seasons, at first when you see it's just one guy with some guns I thought 'Oh this should be dealt with by the end of the first episode no problem', but by the last episode the show proves why that guy was the KING of spades, that and the fact he's a constant presence throughout making him the only game with that uniqueness as opposed to being held in one place, unless you're prepared to beat him you have no option but to run

I believe Mira was a psychiatrist in the real world and she also got pulled into the world of the borderland. Maybe she was one of the winners before Arisu and the others entered borderland and she decided to stay in borderland. I would have loved to see Chisiya play the last game with Mira. He would've been like OK, I don't believe anything you say until you show me proof 😂😂😂

Nah. That game was free for literally anyone except the person who actually played it. Mira designed it with Arisu's need for answers in mind so that she could mess with him over drugged tea and use that need for answers to get him to concede. Even if you drank the drugged tea, unless you share his need for answers she doesn't have nearly as strong a hold on you, and you probably wouldn't drink more after the first break.

Out of all the games between season 1 and 2 there was only one game I knew how to win before watching it play out. That was the light bulb game in season 1, where they would be electrocuted if the water hit the electrical prongs. It’s actually a brainteaser, and my year 11 math teacher taught me it in high school when I was 16. I’m 25 now and when I first heard the instruction being read out I had the biggest deja vu moment and the way they solved it in the show is exactly how you solve the brainteaser. I was very impressed seeing a simple brain teaser being turned into a death trap. It was very fascinating for me

One of the things I like about this series is that every game and player is bound by the game's own rules. Every player must follow the game's rules, and there's no way around them. You cannot outsmart the rules; there are no crazy twists or dramatic betrayals. You play the game. You die if you go against the rules. Die if you fail. Live if you win. Problem is your strategy is perfect but if everyone thinks alike you will play the game forever. You have to kill to survive because food stockage might end and you can’t really sleep. You have to give an answer in 1 hour so you’re put such under high levels of stress which makes you WANT to kill so the game can end.

You would have to be very smart, strong, athletic and flexible, observant, analytic, manipulating, calm and emotionless like Chishiya to win. But if you are not, that's OK...just make friends like they do and form a strong group and you'll all be winners. 😂 No one would survive if they played all the games alone. That is the same in life. You need to help each other and support one another. I think there was also a strong message of working together and teamwork and don't give up. Although you might lose some friends along the way, that's inevitable. But like many things in life, you need sacrifices in order to gain and win something. It may seem harsh and painful but life is also about going through obstacles and overcoming pain and sorrow. Also, most games require teamwork to win and not solely on your own. However, when people are put in a position where they have to play at the cost of their lives, they would then most likely not want to play together with others and play on their own. This is because most people are selfish and wish to be the only survivor rather than help others survive. You might also only work and play with others to use them for your own advantage like we have seen many do in this show.

Chisiya wouldn't be able to guard the base and find all the items on his own. He also wouldn't stand a chance to win in the King of Spades as you can see it took all of them to defeat him. Chisiya would ace all the other games though. He would have easily cleared the Queen of Hearts game.

That’s why I love Alice in borderland Retry’s (the spin-off) nine of hearts game so much! Part of the gimmick of Q♡ is that you can't lose the game. This also means you can't *leave* the game without winning. If you kill Q♡, the game is unwinnable and everyone dies to passport timeout. That's what's devious about it.

Mira designed the game to take full advantage of his need for answers so she could mess with him over tea and get him to concede, or at least to trick him into killing her. The scene where tons of people are dying while running for their lives and the protagonists miraculously surviving is so stupid, that event is so out of place the players was supposed to be given a chance to survive by playing a game with rules not just survive the world through luck and miraculously avoiding a massacre.

I've been meaning to watch this drama but I never got around to it. It looks like it's on the same idea as Squid Game but it has to do with cards it looks like. Math is not my strongest suit so if I participated in this game, I would definitely be the first to die.

This is way deeper and emotional than squid game. The music and world building is also way better. Visually also way more stunning. Game design is also way more interesting. You can't even guess how they beat it, unlike squid game you see the rule and there's no surprise.

Warning: yappucino I’ve never really gotten why it’s so often compared to squid game. Interesting, complex characters, death games, and deeper meanings. And of course, they’re both from countries in East Asia. But that’s really where the obvious similarities end. Alice in Borderland is way more sci-fi/fantasy, whereas Squid game is, while very improbable(to be shipped off to some random island and play death games based on childhood games, not being in debt), within the boundaries of possibility in our world, leaving less room for plot holes(which both shows have at least a few). I can see Alice in borderland being geared towards younger audiences, whereas Squid Game could be more fitting to a wider age range. As for the deeper meanings, I feel like Alice in Borderland focuses more on morality, grief, working through mental illness, the value of life etc. and while Squid Game probably mentions these issues a few times, it’s pretty hard to have a deep, mature conversation about it’s meaning without saying “capitalism”. It seems to focus more on injustice, fighting each other for money, the myth of hard work=rich, and so on. However, I would recommend them both if you want to see desperate people having to fight and compromise morals just to survive, some pretty emotional scenes, and just some deeper meanings without thinking too hard about them.

the only similarity is that they are both based on survival games, but i would say that alice in borderland has far more complicated and harder games that actually requires u to think on how to win, physically, psychologically and intellectually. squid game is more realistic whereas alice in borderland is more fantasy scifi which allows more room for such games to happen

Look honestly everything is explained but not in plain sight obviously! Even right down to the title and it's similarity in Alice in Wonderland. It'd a play and juxtaposition naming it Arisu in Borderland. Look the whole thing is a metaphor, whereas Alice in Wonderland is a nightmare venture. This is also a nightmare adventure but the entire two series is people fighting for their lives as they're in serious injured after the meteorite disaster. Everyone's real body is actually in a hospital fighting from their injuries from the blast throughout the entire two series. Basically those who died in the games basically died in real life as either A) they lost willpower to continue B) Their injuries were too much to bare. Those who survived till the end of the queen of hearts game and voted to stay apparently people theorised that they remained in comatose in the hospital. Neither dead or conscious state. Finally that Joker card can be just a red herring. It doesn't necessarily have to mean anything. Sure they can make a third season, but without anything solid to go with it can turn out into a total mess. I'm actually fine the way it ended. Unless they can think of something new and game changing to add to the table I rather they don't make another season.

Unpopular Opinion: The diamond is the hardest card not the hearts. I feel like with hearts it's more about manipulating and betraying and I'd be able to do that without remorse if my life is at stake. But diamond cards bro are hard asf and require tough thinking and a genius to win those games, so it's a no from me I'd be the first to die in a diamonds game.
