Also the fact its hinted the Ethereals are actually controlling the Tau through pheromones or some other means, and that is the sole reason the Tau stopped warring amongst themselves to reach thier level of technological supremacy over the other races. Tau Commander Farsight is suspected to have abandoned the Tau empire for a myriad of reasons for example, with the big one being he might have discovered some horrible truth about those he served - severing all ties with them and establishing his own Communes far from the Tau Empire. This is also reinforced by the fact the Ethereals, upon discovering not only the existence of these communes but the fact they were thriving without the Ethereals influence, began to eradicate every trace of Farsight from Tau records and history as well as forbidding any contact with the "Rebel Tau" - this act alone hints the Etherals might not be as generous and good-hearted as most would believe them to be.

Orks are super fun. Here are some choice quotes on how they view the Universe: 1. On Space (specifically Warp) Travel: "Travellin' through space is boring. Well, boring unless da hulk yer on is full of dem gene-sneakers, or a base fer da chaos lads wiv da spikes, or already has Boyz on it. Or if humie lootas come callin', that's always good fer a bit a sport. Or unless yer have a mutiny or two to pass da time, or unless strange fings start happenin', which dey usually do when yer out in da warp. One time we had some bloody great ugly fing come straight out of Weird Lugwort's 'ed! It butchered half da lads, that was pretty entertainin'. Come ter fink of it, space is a pretty good larf. And that's before yer find yerself a nice world ta crush!" 2. From Culture vs. Kultur: Thoughts on Orkish Society by Uthan the Perverse, a controversial Eldar philosopher: "The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude." 3. "Orkses is never defeated in battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!" 4. How to distinguish friend from foe: "Listen karefully and I'll explain 'ow we do things 'ere in Deff Skwardron- you shoot at it an' you miss, it's one of ourz. You hit it an' you shoot it down, then it must be one of theirs. Dead simple, see?"

Orks have something of a collective will that is able to shape the world around them, if enough Orks believe something, that something is just willed into existence. It can be small things like Bricky's example of a car running without gas if enough Orks think it will or their guns just being empty boxes of nails and bolts that only fire in the hands of an Ork, I've also heard rumors of some very big things, like the only reason the Emperor of Mankind is still alive is because enough Orks believe that he is.

3:04 the "Imagination POwer" of the orks is something unique wich still has its limits. At the very core the WHOLE of the Orks race as Powerfull Latent Psychic potential, but they have no fucking clue on how to use it or to tap in it. They mostly do it unconciously. And also this Psychic latent power, also pools togheter the more Orks are present in one place. This Psychic phenomenon as a few effects One been that if they believe, NOT imagine, but BELIEVE that somehting should work, then it will work. Weapons that are missing some curcial mechanical parts( some don't even have Triggers!), will shoot, cause in the orks mind, everything is there, so it should work, there no reasons why it shouldn't work, so there you go, and bam it works... They Believe that the Color Red is the Color of Speed, so they paint ALL their vehicles in Red colors/patterns, and the vehicles DO advance faster( even tho its just like an extra 1" on the tabletop, it is still faster that other vehicles of the same type from other races) Whne they want to take off into space with their Jumbled and Jurryrigged space ships, you can actually the orks chanting "'ere We Go!" over and over again, and the thing actually takes off, no matter its size or its shape, things that shouldn't even fly according to the laws of aerodynamics, do take off... The Other use of this Psychic potential, that Breaky speaks off, is the Waagh (with a HArd G Waa-G-h), when thousands of Orks gathers in one place and the excitation of battle is at its peak, that psychic pool pushes them forward and multiplies their aggresiveness, strenght and speed... Its like an Army WIDE Buff ability, where they are all suddenly Juiced up on Steroids and just charge forth ignoring incoming enemy fire and wounds, thats whats called the Green tide. An anecdote about their Power of Believe and how it can also be detrimental to the Orks. There exist an Imperial Commisar called Yarrick, or as the orks calles him Ol' Man Yarrick. Yarrick had his arm ripped off by an Ork Warboss's Power klaw, but he managed to shoot him right in the eye with his Bolt Pistol, killed the Warboss. he then had the Power klaw retro-fitted to be installed on him has a replacement for his missing arm. Yarrick as always been good Vs orks, he somehow understands them and as always foiled their crude plans, and this is what allowed him to be victorious in occasions that everyone though was lost, specially during the 2nd War for Armaggedon (it is an Imperial planet of strategic importance) Yarrick got such reputation, even amongst the orks, that the fact that he is still going on, even tho due to his age (the guy is over his 60's) is in MY THEORY, because the orks believe that he cannot be bested in combat by orks, and that he is the incarnation of some God of War. He actually is, since the Orks truely believe that Yarrick is impossible to beat, they fail.
@gokbay30573 жыл бұрын
Also, Yarrick heard that the Orks believed his glare could kill. So he removed one of his eyes and replaced it with a mechanical eye that can shoot lasers. So he can literally kill by just looking.

One sort of meme/sort of fan head cannon is that the reason the ultramarines are so good in the lore is because since they are painted blue they have extreme amounts of luck. There could be a few other examples, as in the salamanders are the best to people because green is considered the best color, the blood angles generally fight in fast ways and are considered faster in the tabletop, but a couple exceptions are the imperial fists (who are yellow) don't explode better, the raven guard (I believe that they have a black paint scheme) are supposed to be the sneakiest space marines and purple is the sneaky color for orkz.

I remember a short story. An imperial general tries to trick an oncoming orc army that his forces were far larger then they were, hoping to make the orcs think twice. He had his men wear different colours, different regiments, different units. He also mined the surrounding hillside, hoping to catch the orcs off guard. Well, the orcs were excited at the prospect of fighting this huge imperial force, they had been promised a fight, and here was a BIG fight! They charged right down the middle, ignoring the hill and the mines, and smashed right through the imperial forces.

I think Bricky gives a bit of disservice to the whole Tau not being grim dark. In lore they are a full on Caste system that is completely under the control of the Ethereals - meaning that if your born in the Earth Caste, your a builder; Air Caste, your a pilot; Water Caste, Negotiator; Fire Caste, warrior; no changing castes. No intermingling between castes. No breeding between caste or in your own unless governed by the Ethereals - yes your not allowed to form proper relationships in Tau unless the Ethereals tell you who your bonking. Also the Ethereals are very much in control. During the Commander Farsight books. One Ethereal shows just how much power they have over the Tau castes when he orders a Fire Warrior to draw his blade and cut his bellow open. And the Tau Fire Warrior does it without flinching or hesitation or anything. He just does it - it is believed that the Ethereals may have a form of mind control over the Tau people which allows them to create such “loyal” followers. As for their Auxiliary Forces, they do happily accept other alien races.... just as long as they are willing to accept “The Greater Good” (no one actually knows what this is and in truth it’s very much a: “The Greater Good” is whatever we need it to mean at said moment) type thing. Also Auxiliary alien races may be subject to... sterilisation. Don’t want your alien allies getting all out of control now do you and making more of themselves. Those few super loyal races may not be subject but human and some other lesser ones... well they can be sterilised and used as a bit of cannon fodder/labour and when they die off later? Well not to worry.
@remliqa3 жыл бұрын
One thing about the Tau caste system is that you're no bred or born into them, you're chosen to became each caste and you can't change caste once it have ben chosen for you (based on your capabilities). Of course the because of generations of specialisation , some of the sub races are so specialised (the Tau air caste eg) that pretty much the entirety of their clan/sub race will become that caste ,thus it is rather rare for any Tau born of a different caste to be assigned another caste. The only exception for this rule is the Ethereal caste which seem completely exclusive to the point they might be their own race/species.

The best things about 40k has always been the size and choice, its always been "chose the ones you think look or feel coolest or have the coolest lore...to you" its always been that. Its why its so cool, the depth of choice is staggering. Each Race has the option to create custom factions/subdivisions of it, for example, you can just make your own Space Marie chapter and can make up lore for it, or an Imperial Guard unit, or an Eldar Craftword, you can even do it with Renegade and Chaos Marines. Because there are so many Space Marine chapters since the Horus Heresy and some have defected you can even create your own Chaos Marine chapter, etc etc The pre made factions/chapters/craftworlds etc, are amazing and if you dont like any you can just make your own. You Even have the option to make Human faction outside Choas, the Imperium Tau or whatever. Just before the Emperor conquered the Galaxy Humanity had already built an even bigger empire which fell in a huge AI war (Circa 25000 AD). The Emperor was in the process of reuniting humanity, when the Horus Heresy happened and that means there are pockets of Humanity that are as yet unfound by the Imperium, so some smaller Empires can and still do exist that have not yet had meaningful contact with the Imperium, this means you could make an entire system or even multi system empire quite advanced but remote that the Imperium has only just become aware of, and they could be entirely as you chose Contrary to the extremity of Grim dark universe, there are actually parts of the Imperium (Garden Worlds) that are nice places to live, where day to day it would not be too far away from our experience, its just that the majority of the Empire is far harsher and closer to a medieval style existence for the vast majority. Every rule of lore can essentially be broken in some way, the scope for customisation from paint schemes too lore and even modelling itself is beyond vast

the reason why there's so many orks is because they breed like mushrooms, every time a ork dies, thousands of fungus spores will come out and grow up to become orks and goblins. Also it take a short while for orks and goblins to grow I think.

As for stuff to react to next: If you want to continue down 40k lines. I’d suggest Arch’s video on the creation of an astartes - pretty much full audio vs visual but it has a lot of great detail on what it is making a boy into an Astartes. I’d also recommend his ork, dark Eldar and death Korps of Krieg videos + his series on the war for Armageddon if you want a longer series on a full planetary set of wars. As for other 40k creators. Tactica Imperialis and his 20 Legions breakdown series that covers all the Founding Adeptus Astartes Legions, their primarchs and their skills/history’s. I’d also recommend 40k theories and most of his Astartes and xenos videos as they are quite easy to watch and get into. As for more on the fan/community side I’d watch “If the Emperor had a Text to Speech Device”. It is a parody/comedy of 40k however it also does give a lot of lore away too plus it is a major community love and has spawned many many memes. As for another universe if you want to get into more: May I suggest watching Tex Talks Battletech and his 2 videos on the Amaris Civil War/Fall of Star League. Yes a combined length of 3hrs but I swear to you guys, by the end of the 1st video you’ll be demanding to watch the 2nd immediately and by the end of the 2nd you’ll be wanting to get into Battletech immediately.

People complain about how the Tau look, but their appearance is part of their race as a whole. They are young, new and completely ignorant of how actually dark and depraved the universe is. They believe that there is a solution and a way forward, and their stand out appearance from every other race supports this. They are something fresh and new to a world that has been dark for so so long. That's their appeal! Also there are elements of Grimdark, as, like the prophets of halo. Having this 'greater good' propaganda to tell all your soldiers, brainwash them into thinking they are dying for a good cause, and having the power to pull strings is pretty fucky in itself! (a bit too real in my opinion)

Then Space Marines. Because the stories and lore is just awesome. Then Everyone else. BTW, the Tau are evil. They are expanding very quickly. AND slowly justifying anything to forward their "greater good". Still great at ranged combat. The other races(meat shields) get to engage in close combat. I don't trust the weaboos.
