Funny thing about me and 40k: I started playing Kill Team as a Ork player. When I put together one of my figures, I accidentally put a flamer tank on my Rokkit Ork. I thought "no worries, I'm sure an Ork would do something that dumb". Then I realized that there was a hand on the hose that couldn't be glued onto anything on the Ork I had. Then I had the bright idea to take a nub of modelling clay and make a bone sticking out of the hand piece, and painted the whole arm like it was taken from some random guardsman. It soon became my favorite Ork to field, even over the Nob that came with the Kill Team. So my own stupidity and not paying attention led me to making my Orkiest of Ork model.

There was a guy in our gaming group who modeled an Ork wearing a helmet, who had iron sights attached to his helmet slit. It was completely useless, but he'd apparently wondered how Space Marines were so accurate, so he took apart a marine helmet, and saw that they had targeting reticules there. So, he cobbled a set of iron sights out of scrap, and welded them to his helmet, allowing him to somehow be more accurate.

I laughed so hard at what Bricky said in a podcast about orks. He said that a bunch of orks were repairing their ship in outer space and another ship with orks came to help them. And as they jumped from one ship to another, they saw the orks repairing their ship without wearing space suits. They were like: "Oy lads. Why the fck don't you have space suits on? Don't you know you can't survive in space?". And when those orks heard that they immediately died.

I'm not sure if these stories are canon or not but here are a few: Some guardsmen were holding a point and ran out of ammo, their commissar pointed his gun and shouted "Bang!" and the Ork DIED. He started going "Bang, Bang, Bang!" and Orks were dying and so his men followed suit until a group of around 6 Orks came rolling up. They started shooting but they wouldn't die until they got closer and they heard the Orks going "I'm a tank, I'm a tank, I"m a tank" A Space Marine was fighting Orks until his bolter ran out of ammo, in his desperation he grabbed an Ork Shoota that should not work in normal hands and started pulling the trigger, it failed. The Orks were like "Why is that not firin? That's a perfectly good shoota!" and the shoota immediately started working. A bunch of Orks were running from some Blood Angels and one of them turned around and saw a Terminator chasing them. Because Orks believe red makes things faster the Terminator chased them with the speed that should not belong to a terminator and then killed all the orks.

Actually, they ambushed marines in a space no atmosphere. They were winning up to a point. One pulled a marines helmet off and watched it suffocate and die. Others orks saw thus they realized they needed air to breath and promptly died.

Warhammer 40k started as a fun offshoot satirization of fascism, and realized with the breadth and depth possible in their skeleton of a setting so many tragic and wonderful stories are possible. We still have to be aware of the juxtaposition inherent in it's works but it really does raise a lot of fascinating questions. I hope that Eisenhorn TV show makes it out of development hell and is well done enough to get real money and interest into the setting for even more to appreciate.

If not outright stated, it is heavily implied that the Etherials have some kind of pheromone that induces a mind control effect in most sentient races. Commander Farsight, one of the most significant Tau, was actually able to think clearly once the Etherial accompanying him died and established the only cool subfaction of Tau. The Farsight Enclave, who have a combat doctrine that includes melee training.

Some think, that the only reason that the Krork became Orcs is that there was no Enemy out there to really challenge them and so some kind of regression started. But one of the "latest" Stories about the Orcs and Tyranids is about the Octarius Sektor. One of the "best" Xenoexperts in the Imperium used some questionable methods to prevent that Hivefleet Leviathan is going closer and closer to Tera, so he and a Deatchwatch team sended a Spacehulk with Genestealers in it to the Orc imperium in the Octarius Sektor. They hoped that both Tyranids and Orcs would kill each other and that it would end in mutual destruction but the exact oposite happend. Orcs started to grow taller and stronger, they even use Squigs as mounts and only because the Squigs are started to grow taller too. On the other side we have the Tyranids that kill and devour the stronger Orcs what make them stronger too, so the Orcs need to grow taller and stronger again. This even stronger Orcs make the Tyranids stronger again and so on, it is a maelstrom of claws, fangs, death and Evolution. Whoever comes out victorious will be an evolved nightmare that is stronger than before the whole massacre. And that is the reason why Orcs cheer in joy if the Tyranids are comming, both can give the other one the one thing they desire the most. An allmost infinite access of biomas for the Tyranids and a really good fight for the War loving Orcs

Regarding Ork belief power There's a story about a group of guardsman surrounded by the Orks and not long afterwards they are out of ammo but one guardsman have an idea and just shouting "BANG" and one of the Orks died because the Orks believe that the guardsman can still shoot

The problem with a philosophy like the "Greater Good" is that while it sounds ideal, who exactly decides what the greater good actually is? Some of the most horrific events in human history were perpetrated by people claiming that they were doing it for the benefit of all. So it allows the Tau to justify whatever action they want to do, no matter how horrible. Since the Tau know that they can't go toe to toe with the Imperium, they've switched to espionage and subterfuge. They'll show up at your planet wanting to set up a trade deal. Not so bad, right? But then they'll either wait for or orchestrate an incident that gives them an excuse to post troops on your soil, supposedly to protect their own people. Then after awhile the Tau will ask for another small favor. Then another. And another. And another. All seemingly very reasonable but what they're doing is slowly turning the heat up to boil a frog. Little adjustments over a long stretch of time and since the changes are so small and so spread out, you'll end up living as a second class citizen on your own planet which the Tau have taken over and heavily garrisoned. Disagree with anything that the Tau are doing and you'll be labeled a dangerous subversive and suddenly you lose your job. Well, you can't make rent anymore so you end up in a Tau run shelter for the poor where they'll sterilize you. After all, we can't have the homeless population grow now can we? Besides, you're guilty of wrong-think. You lost all of your rights. Just be glad the Tau are generous enough to take care of you. And over a long enough stretch of time, the Tau have usurped your planet and removed any resistance to their rule.

I have a homebrew lore idea to make the tau a bit more interesting. So it's obvious, got the tau are heavily inspired by Japanese anime and turns of their mechs. Their armor is vaguely Samurai-esque as it looks like futuristic banded armor with a single large pauldron, and they have this kind of code of honor Bushido kind of thing going on. If you want to make the town more interesting, lean harder and Dad Samurai aesthetic. Make the Ethereals Daimyo or Shogun, make your commanders actual Shogun, and all the different septs can be different warring kingdoms within the "Tau Empire". And then the farsight enclaves, could just be Ronin. Samurai without a Shogun (ethereal)

The happiest orks in 40k was the waagh under Tuska Daemonkilla. He ran the cadian gate blockade, flew into the eye of terror, krumped so much that khorne was like "damn dude. impressive" and now Tuska and his Boyz fight and die to the last ork then resurrect every day to do it again. All because one deranged warboss thought daemons were the best fight. They couldn't be happier.
