As a West African woman, I had the privilege to go to college in Texas and in Arkansas. I was an international student, and let me tell you, I lived the best experience of my life in those towns. People smile at strangers, hold the door for the ladies, people can give you a ride if you don't have a car, and leaving stuff on your library table is safe because people don't steal. I am grateful to have discovered the side of America they rarely show abroad. Simple, faithful, kind people. 😊🥰. P.s. I am Muslim 😉.

The real struggle is trying to explain where your small hometown is by explaining it’s between 2 other slightly bigger small towns nobody has heard of 😂🤦🏻♀️ From Oklahoma but once was stationed in Alaska. Heard a woman in line behind me at the commissary talking about a small town near my hometown. I said “oh my gosh, that’s close to where I’m from!” And she actually knew my hometown. @@toedrag-release Oh that's nothing! Here in the Portland area of Oregon, it can take upwards of that long to go the equivalent of just 5 miles on the rail and bus, which takes in terrible traffic maybe 30 minutes to get to, normally around 10 or so. 😂Accurate but as the oldest of 7 born and raised in a small rural town,I feel attacked😂😂. We had 2 red lights. The entire “downtown” was 3 blocks for those 2 red lights. The Christmas parade would march to one red light, turn around and march to the other red light. Train tracks literally separated me from my friends. Seriously, tho, after working in major cities I wouldn’t trade my small town upbringing for a thing.

As a teen I worked in the town (a little bigger) next to our small town. I remember the guy at work making fun of our town because it had no stop lights. I think the “bigger” town he was from had 2 tops. 🙄

I live in a smallish town and I have friends that just moved here less than a year ago so it's fun to give them a mini history lesson about the town.

Oh the accuracy. Dollar general in every. Single. Small town. We have 2 dollar stores in my town 🤣. Family dollar and dollar general. We’re up to 4,000 in my town 😂. We have one grocery store and it’s over priced so we go to the next town 20 minutes away 😂 Loved the one church for every 10 people. Mine has 5 churches. Bicycle bob. Always a bicycle bob. Everyone looks out for him.
