I love how all of the voice lines related to rock facts last super long, whereas whenever the dwarves have a genius idea about equipment, philosophy, or Karl, they lose it in like 3 seconds. It feels like their dwarven brains are primed for knowledge about rocks, but trying to think about anything else burns through the smart stout's effects much faster.

Many folks seem to say Bet-C is the quintessential armed battle MULE, but Bet-Cs, as others mention, are remnants of previous attempts to mine in Hoxxes, which is why they are vulnerable to the charge-sucker parasites that commonly afflict them. MULEs, APDs (Bosco/Lloyd), Engineer turrets and Drilldozers all appear to fare far better and are distinctly more modern forms of equipment, which is why it's getting suggested- if something like Bosco, Molly, or Doretta can go without getting Xynarch'd then it should theoretically be fine to make an armed MULE with better component security than the outdated BET-Cs. Syncourt, however, is also totally right in that while it's an obvious solution to the problem Bet-C ran into it also breaks the core gameplay- if you want to get a lore angle on it, you can always just say Deep Rock is a bunch of cheap bastards.

@g--stef47562 жыл бұрын
@@101Crock This is just a game feature. Charge Suckers literally only show up on Bet-Cs, aren't very animated, and furthermore, you never actually see them even in scenarios where they'd theoretically have ample reason to be present and where no dwarves are present, such as abandoned Cargo Crate batteries, Mini Mules, abandoned Drop Pods, etc. Again, the wording in the Miner's Manual entry doesn't support the idea of charge suckers being repelled by Dwarves either. There are tons of additional enemies or even idle encounters you could theoretically make from Charge Sucker infections, from abandoned Mine Heads or Engineer turrets to random MULEs traipsing around from failed missions or even idle charge-suckers sticking to the electro-crystals in the Crystalline Caverns. However, so far as it's been written officially, BET-C is just unlucky enough to be an early DRG product.

It looks like the smart stout doesnt simply make dwarfs smarter, it also gives them pure knowledge like knowing how is gold yellow or what are the cubes for : no amount of cognitive capabilities could make them figure that out because they'd just lack data ( unless the drink makes their brain fetch tiny pieces of information everywhere in their memory and they have actually seen enough things through their life to answer these kind of questions sherlock holmes style but its very unlikely imo since drg field dwarfs are most likely proletarians as their voice lines and culture and also the roughneck dlc suggest ) So assuming the information they get from it is always true ( among the verifiable lines i dont think any is false ) Karl indeed exists, and considering the dwarf says he knows where he is we can assume he might be alive because if not his corpse wouldve probably been eaten by glyphids and he wouldnt 'be' anywhere. 🤔 Tldr Karl survived

AcTuAlLy: By arming the Mule, you're wasting precious cargo space and energy meant for carrying minerals for a purpose that the dwarfs and Bronco drones already accomplish, whilst also undermining Molly's biggest advantage: her immunity to hostiles on account of her doscile and passive behaviour. If we take a look at Bet-C, we'd see that even a model meant solely for carrying armaments would be significantly larger, requiring more powerful leg actuators for not only the weapons and ammo, but also the additional armor that Molly would need on account of her drawing the hostiles' attention with the weapons. At that point, giving her the cargo space needed to carry even half as much cargo as the regular Molly would require her to be, by all account, humongous. At that point, traversing caves would be nigh impossible, lest she constantly fired C4s to free up space or in addition to everything else also had Doretta's drills. In her current state, the M.U.L.E. not only accomplishes its task of carrying and storing minerals and miscelaneous items whilst remaining compact enough to traverse the celestial object's naturally occuring caves, but her lack of weaponry lets her completely avoid hostile lifeforms as they both don't recognise her as a Dwarf, which they already know is hostile, but also don't see her as hostile at all. Its the same reason why Glyphids don't attack other naturally occuring Fauna, such as Lootbugs or Angels.

@callummcneill6266 Жыл бұрын
Maybe it's because the Drop Pod targeting systems are meant for hitting large targets and large areas. Molly is a very small target and you can't expect a pod of that size to get right on. You also don't want it to land on her.
@graveyardshift6691 Жыл бұрын
Surprisingly, I REALLY doubt this is the case. Mining is a treacherous affair and cave in collapses just from a pickaxe hitting the wrong spot are a real threat to real miners. Structural integrity of the caves and earth are a real thing and miners have hard knowledge of this. Now imagine what would happen if a multi metric ton chunk of iron hit the surface at terminal velocity and burrowed into it. The shockwaves alone probably collapse a good portion of whatever is underground. The drop pod likely lands at what is calculated to be the most stable location to ensure that said caves DON'T collapse on impact so they can even get the miners in in the first place. You'll notice that the drop pod also tends to land relatively close to its original landing site (As seen in escort missions, point extractions, and on site refinement) (adjusted for orbit to subsurface targeting) to ensure that it can actually extract the team. Even if they're as callous as you think they are, burying the MULE which can't dig would defeat the purpose of sending the miners in. In short, the pod is likely landing where it's most stable and the site can take the impact for both insert and exfil. It would defeat the purpose if it can't get the workforce in or the goods out. Not every company is some callous nebulous evil management that doesn't give a shit about their workers. DRG recognizes that the world is hostile, and mining is a dangerous business. Losses are expected and you can't get broken up about it. But if DRG really didn't give a shit about it's workers, it wouldn't give them the level of support they get. Hell the drop pod wouldn't even have seats for the dwarves to extract from.
@markusallen6818 Жыл бұрын
@Graveyard Shift fair point one thing though Molly is programed to take the quickest route to the drop pod even if the dwarves are physically incapable of following Like one time I saw on the DRG subreddit the drop pod spawned at the end of a hole made by the gunner's rail gun pistol and Molly is able to crawl through any gap no matter how small I've seen her go through seemingly solid walls One time the drop pod landed in a way that the zipline couldn't reach it so the only possible way to the drop pod was to mine through by hand on solo it was in the radioactive exclusion zone so the rock mined slowly and wound up just a second too late And I get that there are companies that do give a crap about their employees I happen to work at one of them but DRG does no seem to be one of those companies

@@suspectpanda3879 its why bosco dont hold minerals, hes full of ammunition
@EdibleFuture2 жыл бұрын
@@suspectpanda3879 i think it's more a ammo production system that is too big to work with conventional weaponry dealing vastly reduced damage as you scale it down(would explain why bosco does so little damage as opposed to a bet-c) so they in theory could put a gun on molly. But it would do next to no damage. Or the mineral compression system on molly is expensive/can't be made smaller due to its internal components. witch would explain why instead of the same systems being used on drop pods/rigs they use mulchers for better mineral storage

Yes turets on robots, because that went totaly well with BET-C
@g--stef47563 жыл бұрын
@@tabdeugo The reason it's a problem with BET-C is because BET-Cs are old and lack the component security modern DRG machines have. A machine like your common MULE or APD (e.g. Bosco) doesn't seem to suffer Xynarch infection, so in theory it'd be a totally sound decision- the real reason not to do it is because it breaks the core gameplay.
