Great video. Spawn was my shit growing up too. The whole dude goes to hell and makes a deal with the devil angle blew my mind back in the day. I passed on these editions in favor of the smaller white hardcover origins collections you mentioned. Those are up to volume 10 right now and there hasn't been another edition released since late 2016. Unfortunately it looks like the origins wave has been discontinued in all formats. That's the rumor at least.

Bro, I just want to thank you for this video because I been looking all over the place to find out if all of the books in this collection are signed and numbered. I must lucked the fuck out because i bought three volume 4 from barnes and nobles marketplace and paid a little under a $100 and each book I received were all signed and numbered to 500. I just ordered volume 3 on ebay earlier this week but I can't find 1 & 2 for a reasonable price. Anyways, this is by far the most educational video for the spawn origins collection. Would love to see you do Hellboy Library Edition in the future bro!

They are restocking this next month, 1, 2, 3 and 4 reprint plus the new vol 5. This are really nice, but I kinda like the Origins HC better (those are omnibus size).

It sucks that they stopped doing pretty much any omnibus for spawn. I don’t get how a comic book is this popular and they stopped at 122. They are 300 volumes, not sure if it’s to avoid people not buying the monthly books. However, it would probably help spawn popularity if they reprint the deluxe edition and do the rest, or at least print some 1k pages omnibus like the compendium.

These books are so badass but I think why they stopped is just do to a price thing. Most of Spawn related things are high detailed but still made at a lower price point so sell a larger amount of the product. Now with Spawn Compendium with issues 1 throw 50 being at a $55 price point I think that's how they will be moving forward

Spawn has got to be my all time favorite comic.. Todd mcfarlane is a great artists and Greg Capullo just really perfected the style and is one of my top 5 favorite if not my favorite artist in all of comics and just in general.. I wish more comics had that hyper detailed gritty gorey monster style.. To me it just makes other comic artists look lazy.. But if anyone has any sugguestions for adult comics that have a similar pencil/ink style to spawn let me know.. Im mostly a fan of the non-superhero stuff but im down to give anything a shot

It kind of sucks that they dropped there collector editions/hard covers/trade paper backs for there compendiums. I love the compendiums, they are a great way of getting the story out there but i would love the collectibles with all of the art and covers.

Just watched a video about the vault edition on other channel... They are a total different beast - they contain uncolored scans of the original spawn-pages in original size... Also they are all signed - and 6-10 of them come with an original drawing from Todd himself

These are oversized, so a large trim. They only collect 25 issues each though. Compendiums are standard size paperbacks with 50 issues each.

Once Greg Capullo came in Todd McFarlane was really just inking over Capullo's pencils. McFarlane embellishes it to look more like his style but it's mostly Capullo.

Stan Lee original came up with the name Over-Kill while Todd and another Image guy people complain about drew Over-Kill together. So when Overt-Kill was introduced into Spawn he was called Overt-Kill. Todd art was more detailed in his Spider-Man series and his writing was great. Greg I say learned a lot form Todd and gradually became a better artist. Spolier Whynn becoming anti-spawn was the worst story idea ever. Why someone so evil would work for heaven. Why Todd let that get written is beyond me. If I'm correct on whynn becoming anti spawn.

Could not agree more, who the fuk wants a spawn movie where he doesn't talk or isn't the central character? Wtf is McFarlane thinking, no wonder no studio wants to finance the movie. Sam & twitch?! Yeah interesting and fun side characters that help out the story a lot but they are just that SIDE characters. I want a badass spawn fighting violator, overkill, commando spawn craziness set in a dark bleak violent world. Essentially the HBO series condensed into a trilogy. I want to see spawn breaking bone, shooting up demons all the while he's being chaperoned by the disgustingly morbid demonic clown
