nah. it's too easily countered. just vary the snap count. the run up has to be perfectly timed with the snap for this to work. It would be so easy to get an offsides call and a first down when the runner can't easily stop his forward momentum. also blockers will be ready to pick the runner up now that they know what to look for.

Yeah because they don't want defense making plays. They want higher scoring games where the offense pops off and scores points. Makes more excitement, more viewership. Could argue defensive plays are very exciting but when you consider how many Americans watch football and don't understand it, it makes a lot more sense that any random person could watch a game, and see the team scoring "lots of point" or a guy running down the field and can get excited a lot more easily than watching a calculated, well thought-out defensive play that literally just shuts down a scoring opportunity. It's sad but it's true.

I played NCAAF back in the early 2000's. The trick in those games was to pick the defensive end, move just a hair over (away from center) then when the ball is snapped just run directly straight for a couple steps then turn toward the quarterback. For some reason the offensive tackle wouldn't turn his body or back up if u did that, but they would adjust to you if you moved very far off center or ran a direct straight line toward the qb. It seemed like it was just poorly programmed AI. Also, this was early 2000's so who knows if that still works in the modern games. I used to get like 7-10 sacks a game with that trick.

For people saying offsides could happen, you do it on 4th and longer than 5, the guy is running sideways being careful not to go offside. He was timing the tell from the holder to jump the snap on this one but he did another one later where he waited and didnt go offside and the FG was missed
@Chris-mo9gt
@Chris-mo9gt 9 ай бұрын
Even on longer than 5 you’re giving a shorter kick position with the penalty. As long as the kicking team doesn’t allow the play clock to make the snap predictable they can throw off their timing. Maybe use it on short distance kicks.
@Phyrre56
@Phyrre56 9 ай бұрын
Yeah the key to this working is timing it correctly. I don't think you're going to see this play happen much, but what it is going to do is change how special teams snap the ball. They can't do the same rhythm and tells every time.

It seems easy to counter, just make the team aware that you might delay the signal if you see a moving defender. I guess it could disrupt the mechanical rhythm that the team has honed in practice, but it is something that can be practiced. This might seem like an impossible to counter play. But it isn't, it's fairly easy. Number 1, it only has a chance of working if the Offense is in silent count. Number 2, the holders will be aware and just not signal to snap the ball if they see motion.

Considering this increases the likelihood of offsides, defenses will have to decide if they want to do this on extra points and risk putting the opponent on the 1 yard line for a 2pt conversion... or if they want to do this on field goals and risk giving them a new set of downs. All I know is the Eagles won't fall victim to it on their extra point attempts because of their near unstoppable brotherly shove.

Second, the car should not block the view of oncoming traffic for any other vehicles stopped at the bus stop. Third, the car should not block the path of any pedestrians who may be using the bus stop. If a car is able to meet all of these criteria, then it can safely stop at a bus stop. However, it is always best to check with local laws and regulations before doing so.

It's a niche play, he could very easily misstime it and get an offside and gift the team a first down or if it isnt under 5 yards to the first, put the other team in a position to go for it.

So a coach finally played madden lmao. This is a trick i use to do flawlessly on madden 09. The games played on 09 were epic.

All the kicking team has to do is delay the snap. Easy offsides penalty and possibly a first down.

If teams can start doing this consistently, it will 100% become illegal and the league will say "because it's dangerous to the kicker" lmao

I think the cagey ST coach stole this from Mike McDaniels and the Dolphins using the running start for their wide receivers to give them an edge.
