thanks for the video, Matt! I done my neighbors 2000 GMC truck, extended cab truck. I stripped some old window film off the door windows Saturday (Nov. 2) using a WalMart Shark iron with the extended burst for the steam. it took about an hour per door to remove the old film because it was so old the top layer of film came off without the glue but a razor was able to peal it off as I just kept applying the steam to keep the glue soft. I took a lot of time cleaning the seals and making sure I got all the pieces of film out of the edges and everything so nothing would get under the new window film. I finally was able to use the Geo Shield dye film I bought three years ago when I done my truck after learning to tint watching your live streams. I finally found someone to apply my new skill and knowledge on tinting their vehicle. I started tinting the door windows yesterday; it was raining outside, so I was rained out a few times, I messed up and creased the door windows, so I had to recut and start over. I bought the 40" roll of 20% back then when I done my truck trying to save money. I have a white board in my bedroom that I used because 20" actually worked on this 2000 GMC truck; the back door windows were a breeze because they were just some pop out wing windows. I used the glass aide tape I bought from you, and I actually double cut them, remembering how I have seen you do it and it worked great. I was rained out Sunday, yesterday the 3rd, when I was doing the doors, so I didn't get the front passenger door done; it's still raining, so I'm waiting for a break in the rain to finish the last door, and I thought I would watch this video again to make sure I was following all the steps right and making it as easy as possible for myself. I wasn't going to charge him for doing it because he's been so kind to me, but he stuffed a hundred dollars in my shirt pocket anyway, so I guess I finally done a window tint job for money, and maybe when people see how good it turned out, it will get me more work, especially since I had to remove old film from the truck first. It really came off pretty well, even though it was taking about an hour per door. The hot steam allowed the razor to remove the glue in long strips! It would have taken forever without the steam! It really makes a huge difference, and I can thank you for learning that from your live streams! I bought one of those pump up spayers from Sun Distributing, and I'm glad I did! Way better than just a regular spray bottle. It gives enough pressure to help flush the seals out, and this old truck needed it. I actually saw you use one in your earlier videos, and I was able to use a link on your site to get it back when I done my truck. It would be nice to use one of the 3 gallon tint kegs, but I can't afford that right now, but the pump up spray bottle Rick sells on Sun Distributing works great. Anyway, sorry for such a lengthy comment, but wanted to thank you again for the videos because you taught me to tint 3 years ago now from watching your live streams and videos, and I thought you might like to know that I actually done someone else's truck for them. Maybe it will result in doing more and me getting faster at it and maybe a little better at it. Thank You, Matt!

Hey! I was wondering what you do if a customers car is dirty. That sounds like a dumb question, but all of the tutorials I see include putting the film on the outside of the car. The obvious remedy is to clear the vehicle... I suppose I'm wondering if customers should be cleaning the thing before getting a tint done. (Specifically asking as I'm hoping to do mobile tints) Amazing video too, by the way. I've subbed! Been looking for something exactly like this.

Hey I love the vids but always wondered on cars with tight or even tight ish seals when I fold the film to tuck in the side seals and then roll up the window I notice there's almost like creases you can see in those spots after install. I know not to crease it I'm always careful but sometimes those spots will show or even just tend to be more dry Upton install

Pry the seal a little with try card then spray well with water solution, then pry below the tint to feed it in 👍

what tape do you use on the edges of the window?
@gav6808 Жыл бұрын
Just have to always check that your bottom edge is equal as the inside edge as not all cars are the same height.If you dont you will have a noticable gap.

Question: It seems like a lot of soapy water gets pushed into the door. Why isn’t tint installed from the bottom of the window to the top so that water is pushed out the top instead?
@richardprice4468Ай бұрын
The doors have drainage built into them, so it just doesn’t make much difference.

Yup. Haven’t been squeegeeing from the middle out. I’ve noticed many fingers pop out and they’re annoying AF! 😅
