I love this show, too. It's so underrated and weirdly not talked about as much as Batman: The Animated Series or Justice League shows. It may not be on the same level as strong episodes like Batman Animated Series or Justice League Unlimited, but I still say it gave us a wonderful take on Superman & his mythos that only allowed the character to thrive in the long term future.

Apocalypse now pt 2 goes so much harder when you know that Dan Turpin was based on Jack Kirby the creator of the New Gods characters and the co creator of the majority of marvel comics. He spent a portion of his career working on DC comics including “Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen”. Getting to see Superman mourn Jack “the king” Kirby was so satisfying.

To be fair, the Starro thing doesn't go anywhere in the Superman animated series, but it DOES show again (in quite the big way, too) for Batman Beyond.

Loved the art style of this show. Metropolis looks so beautiful. Hated how in the Justice League series Gotham and Metropolis turned into generic cities. Amazing video

Sinestro had the blue black outfit back when he was the only one with a yellow power ring, before DC decided to have a rainbow of lantern corps.

Yeah I had a feeling that it was because of the comics or something. Personally each lantern ring having their own colour costume just makes more sense than Sinestro having a blue costume with the yellow ring compared to green lanterns all having green costumes

1:40:40 I'm pretty sure the ring was going to Kyle and not anyone else. Kyle just happened to bump into the ring while it was looking for him. World's Finest Part 3 may be my most favorite. Also, I actually love the Prometheus episode. it's very unique. We never get anything like it.

I think you went through the episodes too quickly. There are a lot of things you missed. Like how the neural interface was affecting Corey's mind in Prototype like how Dr. Octopus was affected by his tentacles. Or how much they did to build up Dan Turpin, Maggie Sawyer, and the Metropolis police through various episodes. Or how they built up Mercy's backstory in Ghost in the Machine. There's also a lot of comic references/details you missed. Like how Dan Turpin is modeled on Jack Kirby, who created the New Gods and the Fourth World, and co-created a bunch of Marvel stuff like the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. Jack Kirby passed away just a year before they started working on Superman: TAS and Apokolips Now part 2 was a tribute to Jack Kirby. They also referenced other comics all the time. For example, in the Volcana episode, the main villain was based on Nick Fury, his henchmen are based on other members of SHIELD, and the fireproof suits their scientists wore are based on AIM, an evil research organization in Marvel. Also, Brainiac being Krypton's AI is a new backstory they created for the show. And the show had to deal with certain limitations. Their stories had to be approved by DC and they had to listen to some suggestions from DC. For example, DC did not allow them to use Hal Jordan as Green Lantern because Hal Jordan was dead in the comics at the time.

Fair enough there are some things I missed but with these episodes take it as I am watching these episodes and giving my opinions on what I think about the episodes. I could have added some things such as how Turpin was designed after Jack Kirby and how Turpin's death was used to pay their respects to Jack Kirby but I honestly never had any idea that was the case. If I researched every episode to find things about them this video would be 5 hours long and drag a lot. I already feel like I was going to slow so it was a surprise to see someone commenting the opposite. But look, overall forgetting details is a fair criticism but I will say I will definitely miss some things from time to time.

@@Zach.R That’s fair. I did like the scene at the end. Aquaman threatening war against the surface world, being talked out of it by Superman and then destroying Luthor’s ship (I also love that Luthor abandoned his people😂), but he was mostly dry for the rest of the episode. “Tell the surface dwellers to respect the sovereignty of my seas or we’ll return to finish what we started. We’ll be watching.” It did set the tone for the character going forward though. Someone that’s in the middle and trying to balance protecting Atlantis while preserving the peace.
