Sometimes the rumble is used as a way to give somebody a fast track to Wrestlemania after they’ve had a story building, but there’s also been times where it’s used to shock and give a mid carder a bigger spotlight like Shinsuke winning in 2017. Imagine it's Roman vs Punk at the end, and then Paul is ringside, and Punk turns to Paul and asks for the "favour", and it's Reigns eliminating himself. That's how we get heel Punk, who wins the title at Mania, who later down the line faces Cena and wins the title. Imagine the promo battles between Cody and Punk and all the AEW shots, they could make on eachother. It creates a possibility for not even Cena to win the title but maybe Roman wins it again, it doesn't need to be a long title reign. I know this is like your tipical IWC booking, but maybe, just maybe.

I'm glad you put Sami in contender. The segments on Raw this week are all about him going out on his own and pursuing what he wants instead of getting wrapped up in everyone else's drama. If they keep building that up he's absolutely a contender and would make a surprise Owens win in the ladder match at Rumble feel incredible. I'm not ready to predict it yet, but Sami v Owens at mania is what I want this year.

Man just ended the 2 longest title runs of their respective titles in back to back mania’s. Plus he absolutely deserves it. And yeah the main reason I really want KO to beat Cody for the title (I have more then 1 reason) is because that means Sami can win the rumble and we can get Sami vs KO at Mania for the title. Not only does it make sense because the story is right there because of all the history they have. The promos would be amazing and they can even do what Seth and Punk did where they really dug into each other with how much history they have (plus if KO is this mad at Cody for teaming with Roman just think how much worse it would be for Sami). But the match would also absolutely cook. Yes we have had this match before but they always put on banger matches especially with each other (because of course they do) and also this time a world title would be on the line so the stakes would be much higher and more intense. And Sami can beat him and win his first world title which he definitely deserves. And KO is probably the best one for Sami to beat for his first world title. Sami is my favorite to win honestly. He deserves it. Plus he’s not getting any younger. U can say the same thing about Punk (who’s older) but Punk still has that favor. And Cena as well who could also very well win but might get screwed over like Santi said.

Here is what I think you were trying to get at when you said Carmelo is a threat to win the KOTR or MITB but not Royal Rumble. Neither KOTR or MITB promise a Wrestlemania marquis, which makes it far more prestigious than either of the others. What makes it even more prestigious is that there are 30 superstars vying for it, not just 6 or 8 (or maybe 16 for KOTR). Lastly, we know Royal Rumble sets off the year's primary storylines... and they aren't going to build those around someone who has barely succeeded in mid-card feuds. They use mid-card upstarts as surprise winners of KOTR and MITB instead since they're less noteworthy and they can scrap the push if it doesn't work out. Harder to do that with RR winner.

I feel like there are way too many contenders listed for the men's Royal Rumble here. There are so many (potential) big names and ongoing/potential new feuds going into Mania season that I don't think that they will "waste" the win on an unexpected push like Fin, Carmelo or even guys like Sami, as much as I like them. Other years, definitely, but not this one. I only see maybe 5-6 realistic winners. - CM Punk: my big favorite too, the time just feels right. He wants to win the rumble and main event WM, he earned his spot with an awesome year, had to sit out last year injured, and he is absolutely one of the biggest and most over names right now - Roman: I think this one depends on whenever the Rock is there and can work WM or not. If yes, he will most likely screw Roman out of the Rumble one way or another and set up their WM feud. If not, I can see him winning, actually. Roman is still the top guy of the company together with Cody, and he most likely will be in a WM main event. Since I don't see him winning a championship until Mania, winning the Rumble is one way to get there, and him eliminating Punk could lead to a WM match via Pauls favor. - Cena: winning the Rumble and challenging Cody/Gunther is one way to the illusive 17th title. But it almost feels a bit too easy to be honest. I can see him getting eliminated by Logan Paul, Punk or someone else, setting up a potential feud, and then winning the chamber, where he is already heavily teased - Seth: He could use a big win after eating a lot of losses and the story with Punk going forward most likely will be Punk being done with him and wanting to chase championships, but Seth not letting go. One way to get Punks attention is by screwing him out of the rumble and/or winning the thing and potentially challenging a Champion Punk at WM. - Drew: He too could use a big win, and he wants to prevent Roman from getting to the top again, so he could screw him out of the rumble and/or trying to get the championship before him by winning and challenging Cody. The Rock is the big wild card, based on whenever he is there and if yes, what they want to do with him. He vs Roman doesn't need the title, so he doesn't have to win in necessarily. He could screw Roman without even being part of the Rumble, or do something like insert himself as Nr. 31, eliminate Roman and then get out again. If they still want to go the Cody route, then it's more likely he will win and challenge for the title. IF he is even there, which it doesn'r feel like right now, but who knows. Othere then these 5-6, I don't really see anyone winning this year's rumble. Something Randy coming back and winning it to challenge Cody? Maybe. But definitely not one of the midcarters. The Womans Rumble feels way more open in comparison.

If The Rock cant wrestle WM, i think Roman is 100% winning, if he somehow can, Cena is the easy answer but i really think wwe wouldnt do that to build suspense of him not making it to WM his last year, but i do think the winner is someone who has already announced theyre in the rumble minus Jey (sorry Jey). For the women im almost 100% convinced itll be Rhea vs Iyo and Tiffy vs Flair, so number one is Flair cayse it makes sense for a girl like Iyo to be in elimination chamber, but i think itll be one of them.

I think Cena is winning the rumble and going against Gunther in Mania. Punk Rollins and McIntyre are going for a triple threat to end the saga for good after all 3 will somehow build the rivalry in the rumble even further. I just don't see a heel that is going against Cody at the moment and winning the rumble, it's either Rock, Roman or Randy and neither of them need the rumble to get the chance for the title, the story is just there and I don't think KO will go against Cody in mania, so it seems that the winner is going for the heavyweight championship, so I think it's Cena and he will put Gunther in his place with him being cocky and everything, and it will be a great rivalry. But, it will make sense to see punk winning and go against Gunther.

there is no wayyy CM Punk is winning the rumble.... 1. He has this extremely hot generational feud going on with Seth and most probably they will have a finale match at Wrestlemania. Probably Seth will cost Punk this rumble and so the feud continues. 2. If he does not win Rumble and Elimination chamber, the power of his favor with Paul Heyman becomes the game changer. And for that to be an insane moment at last minute addition in the main event, Punk has to lose the Royal Rumble. 3. Winning the Rumble closes all these opportunities or atleast put them on hold. Winner most likely always gets a championship match and Cody vs Punk is itself a Main Event closing show. I mean even if he feuds with Gunther, just making that match a main event show with the favor is less exciting compared to the 2nd point i mentioned above. Also it's more like punk if it progresses in that surprising way.
