*2023 EDIT; For some reason I keep getting the same comment of not understanding what happens in this video over and over again, I’m guessing that comes from newcomers, so here you have it; If you see the first 2 videos (Auction Day, Extinction Party) ENA’s voice followed a pattern. Yellow (happy) side had a male voice, Blue (sad) side had a female voice. In the third video, Temptation Stairway, that “rule” was broken and there were occasions where their respective voices got switched within the sides. This video is a compilation of those occasions* I also might consider turning off the comments cause i can’t take the same joke repeated over and over, lack of creativity here smh. - When the fuck i got 1 mill views wtf? Wow. But well, this means that some people got this randomly recommended and don't know what the heck is this character or where is it from, allow me to explain: ENA is it called friend. something i noticed that’s interesting is how when speaking cheerfully, ena’s “sad” voice completely drops the babyish affectation she usually has in favor of speaking clearly. on the reverse, her “happy” voice doesn’t start speaking with it when being used by the sad side, instead she still speaks clearly too-if she did pick it up, “you’re all living a lie” should be “youwe aww wiving a wie”. my Occam’s razor explanation would be that having the affectation would have hindered the delivery they wanted on the lines; “sad” ena using the babyish voice may have distracted from the kind tone she put on, and, more obviously, hearing “happy” ena scream out with that affectation would have made it completely ridiculous sounding, even for a series that doesn’t seem to care about about being taken seriously. it does help point out the fact that when using the “happy” voice for her sad side, ena doesn’t actually sound sad, she sounds enraged. i wonder why that is-the “sad” voice being used for the happy side doesn’t seem to deviate from just broadly being happy

Just a lil' theory: Maybe Ena's voices we're switched because of a drastic change in "Extinction Party." Remember when the space man said that she should go with him since terrible things could happen? Maybe he was talking about a drastic change of the character who dare to go the sky (Moony's home I guess?) Nothing happened to Ena, really. But she did get drunk. Maybe when she was drunk, her sad and happy voices we're confused on which face to talk on, and her faces we're confused on which voice was talking. Sooo, the "DaNgErS" the space man was talking about was that Ena could've gone through a TERRIBLE change. Who knows? Only Joel G does.

Yeah, although I like both voices a lot, I feel like the moments when the guy’s voice sounded sad/angry/sarcastic always stood out a the most to me. I love the whole concept of the voices just because you can very much hear the difference between how either of them portrays the emotion exactly. With the masc voice for Happy, it sounds very proper and almost professor like. Meanwhile with the fem voice for Happy, she sounds almost like some sort of shoujo protagonist, very reassuring and cheerful. The fem Sad voice gives off a helpless, childlike energy while the masc voice sounds more like a breakdown and a lot more aggressive, it seemed to have crept in whenever ENA was in a more desperate state, so that makes sense.

I heard a theory how ENA's anxiety was so strong at the beginning of Temptation Stairway that her sad side had eventually become strong enough to overlap with the happy side , like how one's deepest emotions can linger on even after it is over, which is why you can hear the voices in the wrong side. But the episode goes through a reversal where at the end, the happy side has taken control again and seems to be at peace with the sad side as well.

Along with Adrian said, I read a theory about the ending that when she reached the Great Runas, she wished to be happy, which caused her blue side to fade (Moony only said whoever gets to the Runas could make a wish, not that only one could or only the first, etc.). -Maybe the strength of her sadness in the beginning, and the breakdown of borders between her two selves (which could have been that thing that caused her to go grey for a while) led her to make that wish.- Edit: Thought about the last line, and crossed it out, as happy was speaking before the grey personality emergence happened. Though the trauma of her anxiety going into that event might have been the cause of that breakdown of borders.

I rlly like how in this episode we see more of enas emotions. in extinction party it seems like her emotions are very black and white, she has a feminine voice when sad, and a masculine voice when normal, but in this one we see her emotions are more complicated than that, showing that instead of being black and white sometimes it's more of a grey. we assume that her masculine voice means shes normal or okay but in this it shows that even then sometimes under distress you can hear it, same with her feminine voice but the opposite. I think its rlly cool that they did that
