Sometimes, in EVE Online, it feels like the game itself is out to get you. But when things go wrong, there is always something valuable to learn. Bill Dingha Cynabal has learned a lot of lessons so far. But there's room for more.

as an experiment i undocked about 10 times from a station in highsec and burned an undock bookmark exactly 150km away each time. The result was 3 clusters of bookmarks, from which it seems (at least for that station model) that the undock vectors aren't fully random in a cone around the "true" direction, but are random within about 5 degrees of several "true" undock vectors. If this is true for all stations then burning out a full cluster of undock BMs for each true vector and then making an undock BM in each cluster's center should let you use the first person view trick to consistently choose a truly instant warp available every time you undock, with only a few BMs

Hey there! I live in Placid in the area around Aulbres and I had seen your name a few times in local. It struck me as odd, but sat in my memory. Randomly the other day, one of your videos popped up and without even knowing it, I saw that it was you, so thats pretty cool! You offer valuable lessons on this series that I feel aren't really every talked about in quite as much detail as you've laid out. That sort of info is invaluable to newer pilots so I hope many learn from your "learning experiences"

Regarding things learned, if you would have not jumped right away you could have tried to warp else where in the system possibly escaping or getting one ship to aggro you and not be able to jump, giving you better odds on the other side.

you should have crashed gate. you approch it with prop heated then wait for them to agro so they cant go through then you jump. most nullsec folks arent fit to lock quickly so if even if others jumped with you you would have a decent chance to warp off on the other side. if they have another bubble on the other side you can try to crash back, but in the situation there are bubbles on both sides thats tough

Probably would have been better off leaving your stuff in Manar. Also, you should probably buy a blueprint for a cloaking device and do the warp-cloak trick at every gate. Interdiction Nullifier for your haulers too.

There's a much easier/quicker/more reliable way to do this. "Eyeball" it with the help of the overlay. 1. As soon as you undock, stop your ship. 2. Bring up the tactical overlay. 3. Use Q-clicking to move your ship as far as possible in a straight line at the same elevation as the station undock. 4. Keep repeating until you're at least 150km away. 5. Look back at the station with your ship centered and ensure you are in a straight line with the undock location. Move if you need to. 6. Save the bookmark. When you need to use the insta-undock, keep the locations window open before undocking and right-click warp the instant you are in space.The reason for doing this is that the deviation doesn't occur until a tick or two later. So no matter which direction your ship was going to deviate in, you'll be aligned to your bookmark for the first second in space *every* time.

You have laid out the exact instaundock technique that I used to create the bookmark that got me killed. I agree that this process is faster and is usually "good enough," but in a truly hostile station, I do recommend the constellation of bookmarks and using first person view to ensure you are aligned.

*TL;DR;* This text got a bit out of hand. A few maybe obvious or not so obvious points how I dealt with similar stuff. Love the series o7. It motivates me in my own layed back RP project. For undock, several things specific and more general. - Tactical overlay shows vectors and target destination as a blue circle in the skybox, easy to see if the movement of the ship will cross paths of any bookmark as a blue line is projected into the distance. - Every time alone at 0km at the station and no one is around without any timers, safe-logoff in space and login while bookmarking the random 1mil km away entry position of the login warp. Going by what is shown in the vid there are enough signatures below the exit vector left and right far of in the distance. So only really one point far enough above station is needed to build a triangle where its area will be crossed by the exit-vector. meaning with these 3 points a perfect in the middle undock bookmark can be created. place jetcan there and verify with 5° dscan. Rough guess for height really any entry bookmark with opposite of its 1mil hypotenuse of 50,000 km above station should be enough to build a enormous triangle. The F10 map might be more useful as bookmarks on the F9 map glitch out or are not shown at all. Warping the sides of that triangle and making more granular bookmarks will endup with bookmarks to build a perfect line at the horizon. perfect to put a bookmark in the spot that represents the middle of all exit-vectors. To practice this without high stakes, this can be done in jita 4-4 as the situation is similar to thera station shown in vid. Planet V and VIII are somewhat below the exit-vector. A gigantic triangle can be build between Muvolailen gate, Planet V and VIII. instead of using Muvolailen gate just logoff in space at 0km at the 4-4 station a few times until getting a high enough bookmark to build that triangle with both planets. - Scan and safe every signature and anomaly in most frequented region. Especially the wormhole bookmarks that rarely have the ability to spawn further than the typical 4 AU from celestials as it seems. with some luck most celestials have tactical bookmark pattern of people tend to do gate tacticals. It is up to anyone imagination how useful these are. Secure containers. Lots of secure containers. The Closing hole. yeah. Thera holes seem to get rolled quickly. Besides having launcher equipped with probes. The cheapest way without changing much would be to have the loot in a secure container anchored at any given moment with a password at a good safe. Copy paste password an container content into the note section of the bookmark. 30 days is plenty of time to figure something out to get the loot. With the loot somewhat safe there are several options. scout ahead with the emptied catalyst and make bookmarks until someone kills it. Or jump another system and leave it there in a good deeper safe, self destruct and comeback with the probe. the catalyst will most likely scanned down and destroyed depends on what SOV and section of null. unanchor the secure container, scoop it up and go home. Without a second account every jump is truly blind. secure containers are my way to hedge loot:risk from jumping blind. Started out with jetison but 2 hour despawn is very tight window even if another alt on the same account is parked nearby, if it is too hot 2 hours can be over quickly. much prefer the 30 days. This is quicker than logging off the alt and spamming dscan and travel with two pilots on the same account. Did my fair share of failed purchases and miss-clicks, like your 13 catalysts. I bought Gas Cloud Harvester I Blueprint and noticed it after building four of these and trying to fit them to my venture that these are the exhumer/barge variant (should have been "scoop" not "harvester"). But like with the 500mn reprocessing these compress a total of 194m3 minerals in 5m3 module. With a bit of tinkering these modules are great for good backup caches. Got the idea from eve scout rescue caches that only hold a launcher and 8 probes. I mean it is often enough to manage to secure the pod but without a ship hangar it is hard to reship, so what to do? pod-express and making the trip back? Corvette from the next station with some probes and a spare launcher? But what if the next station at the static has Industry so we can manufacture!? Made 1-run BPCs. As example my explorer backup. A magnate, prototype cloak, mobile depot, rigs and small secure container. Even with the PI for the cloak and depot that take 50m3 there is enough room to fit it all into a small secure container. Three Gas Cloud Harvesters, lots of Metal Scraps for the tritanium and rest Minerals, PI and 1-run BPCs all fit in there. For the fit other modules can be put into another secure container. This magnat needs to scan, "haul", hack and salvage and all these rest modules fit nicely in the second container. When the next static gives a nice opportunity to easily manufacture: take the two secure containers, anchor them somewhere at a safe in system, get back into the hole, log to the capsule, dock the pod, board a corvette, unanchor and scoop the secure container, manufacture the stuff, get the other one, wait, fit, repackage, scoop the waste from hangar and back into the hole. It produces 27m3 not-used minerals so it is perfect. The Mobile depot takes the longest 3h20m base, had its BPO TE researched a bit and with some skills it builds in 2h12m. Very glad to not have reprocessed the Metal Scraps they are great for these caches as it makes modules not so rich in tritanium still usable for this. Some of the meta armor and shield modules have interesting reprocess values. They differ per damage type for example experimental enduring Armor EM Hardener I has base 18,525 pyrite compared to same name explosive variant which has base 30,434 pyrite. Having at least cloaking device manufacture caches is great as that module eats up 100m3 but with a 500mn cold-gas and experimental enduring explosive armor hardener a small secure container can hold materials for 3 prototype cloaks. Other use for Secure containers. Having packaged Secure Containers can be great to balloon up m3 that isn't a jetcan. Had a handful of times mercoxit nearby the static in relative silent systems. But that can change at any moment, so having at least 34 packaged SSCCs ready on an alt and deployed give more than 8000m3 between venture belly and secure containers, so enough for two refines. It is tedious though. Getting the 34 containers back through the hole is more painful but usually there isn't reprocessing nearby so the containers and the mercoxit need to get back into the hole. This way it buffers a bit to wait for a good and safe station connections with a new static. juggling all these anchored secure containers in a shattered hole and getting them out of the hole is involved. Some hints that took me too long to stumble upon or figure out so it might help others. Select all contents of the container and copy and paste it into the note section of containers bookmark under the password preferably. The Note section has as much room as the ingame notepad notes. This way don't need to blow cloak or burn safe to see what is where and the Locations window now becomes a poorer version of personal assets window. After burning some of these spots, have the container bookmark a few km away from the container as to have the option to cloak immediately after a warp when combat probes are on near d-scan. One container per grid, as someone had a blast destroying a few of them. Like hacking scrolling through a container is very distracting and time wasting, best to copy the needed module name from the bookmark notes, drive by the can with Q-click in space, open, search, drag the item, burn to cloak or warp away. without the luxury of switching ships the fits are subpar as mobile depot are great but also attract people when the hole is hot. That local thing is really bad. D-scan seemed to work though. Had it happen in jita once with blacked out chat. Very bizarre. Ingame map statistic also seems to be bug out at times or are not the same to dotlan. In my challenge lost too much loot and ships to it, hence the secure container shenanigans as it easily decreased loss by half for me.

Hard to catch someone with an interdictor on their undock. You have to have one sitting cloaked there just for them. A whole lot of effort to kill a t1 destroyer. It could happen, of course, but I'm never trying to reduce my risk to zero. Until I have reason to believe otherwise, I'm happy to consider that risk small enough that I don't need to play around it. And if they DO do that, I'll laugh and come up with new counter play. It's probably obvious from my videos that my spirit will be hard to break.

Why did you not fly back to the gate after they caught you in the interdiction bubble? If you don't engage them and they engage you, they will not be able to jump after you. That way they are forced to either fight you with a smaller numbers advantage, or try to kill you before you reach the gate

How can i find Thera in the first place?
@tabarnoucheinterplanetary
@tabarnoucheinterplanetary Ай бұрын
You find your way in to Thera by scanning wormholes. There are about 20 wormholes to Thera at any given time and they can appear in any region of space. When you warp to a wormhole and click Show Info, it will tell you if it goes to Thera. Of course, it don't want to rely on just finding one randomly, you can use the eve-scout report, with up to date info about the state of Thera wormholes: www.eve-scout.com/#/ Just navigate to any system shown on that list, look in the probe scanner window for a signature with the same XXX-### code shown in the InSig column, scan it down, and jump on in.
