Anne of green gables was the first book that I ever read that made me think maybe a book doesn’t need dragons in it to be amazing 😂 I read it again as an adult and loved it even more, it’s just one of those stories that last. Please give Joyce a chance! People always start with Ulysses and get intimidated, but The Dubliners and Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man are both MUCH more readable and worth the time. I can highly recommend Detransition, Baby!! It's such an interesting look at identity, family, parenthood, society, discrimination and the trans community but also privilege. For example, and not too spoil too much, while race doesn't play a huge part in the novel there's an interesting passage about the ignorance of the white trans woman protagonist to the oppression of BIPOC people. She thinks as a trans woman, there is no one more discriminated than her, which she is called out on by another protagonist who is half Chinese but cis gender and Peters handles it beautifully. She shows that even those who are minorities and face discrimination can still discriminate others or turn a blind eye.

Watching this video took me back to 2017, when I was just starting my essentialism journey. I gave away, gifted, donated, or sold a lot of the books I had purchased as a coping mechanism. After graduating, I realized that reading WAS essential for me and the person I do want to be. Despite my renewed love of reading, I have come to know that I do not like stocking up on books if I could not actually get to them immediately. So, I keep a list of all the books I do want to read - in digital, audio, or physical. I want to read them, savor them, and, then, give them to people who would love to have them. I only keep what I can absolutely read and get to because looking at them collecting dust makes me feel like I'm stunting their full potential (v Marie Kondo I guess). Anyway, thank you for being my constant companion in my online bookhunts. I love taking your recommendations and scouring online second hand shops for them. Much love and many blessingds!

I've read a shortened version of "Le Comte de Monte-Cristo" for school and I really loved it, it was like four years ago so I don't remember everything. If you have some books that you can't assemble under one theme for a video maybe you should put them in a random generator and start a series of videos where you randomly generated three books or sth like that before reading and reviewing them so your physical tbr go down a little. 'When you call my name' is probably one of my favorite books of the year! It somehow was everything I hoped for and nothing like I expected at the same time! So much love for that one! I also read 'the view was exhausting' and kinda hated it... Great title tho

Yeah The Sympathiser is great, there’s a lot of talk about representation in a western influenced society and how that sort of impacts our ideals and morals. Read it last year, and it is one of my favourite books to this day.

A Christmas Carol is one of my favourite books (no, studying it didn't actually ruin my enjoyment of it), but have I read any of Dickens's other books? No.

Do NOT read The Maidens… I thought I would love it- and I did until the end… the ending made me feel physically ill… I love ya too much to put you through that Jack- toss it. I still gave it like a 3 stars because I loved the first part and I thought I would enjoy it so much. I did and it’s hard for a book/story to shock me but alas… the ending- horrible.

I loved My Dark Vanessa. So frustrating, so difficult and so nuanced. I didn’t want to read something romanticizing abuse but wow. It was so well done. My stomach kept turning whenever Stain or whatever said or did some creepy shit to her. It was such a tragic book but so necessary. Also really enjoyed Careless, gives you an insight into the foster care system and I think all the characters are really well drawn out. There are some heavy topics but I think they are handled really well by the author. I've
