Ikit can be surprisingly reliable, I have won many a battle because Ikit backed me up when I was playing as Aranessa. Also having the ability to give ikit a non aggression pact and him accepting on turn 1 is quite good. Ikit claw nuked the wall away so my armies and his army could invade Miragliano and then I got to keep it!

I had a lot of fun with Cylostra when playing her, yep it was a real challenge but a fun one. I actually like all these Lords though. I mean mostly Vampire Pirates = winner lol

Her Hero and Summons are pretty powerful and I sometimes just ignore her starting area and go take over Galleon's just for a better start spot

Have only played her on the vortex map, but there Cylostra is probably the strongest legendary lord of the bunch. Why? Good starting area, and what the Colonel did not mention was that she also starts with a ghost paladin with immortality and a lot of good extra skills that can get him to 90% damage resistance. The Colonel is also undervaluing her unique skill that gives 5% physical damage resistance. Every ethereal unit (herself, Syreens, the Paladin, her summons) already have 75% physical resistance. Add 5 more and you get to 80% That's a 20% reduction in damage taken! And if you can get even more damage reduction then you can get to 90% (which is max effective resistance in the engine) and that's a whopping 60% damage reduction. Making them almost immortal to anything without magic damage. Finally, she is an amazing Nuker. She has a skill that reduces the cost of her magic, and she can go out alone, use her summons / immortal paladin to tie up /bunch up enemy melee and then use Overcasted Revenge or Tentacle vortex to kill several hundreds of enemies before they even reach her lines. No other Pirate lord can do this quite as easy.

Aranessa is a lot stronger than you'd think: the AI just doesn't attack your starting settlement. Ever. I don't know if it was a bug in my game or what, but I left it unwalled, at tier 5, and went around raiding and sacking without conquering anything else, and in 60 turns my settlement, surrounded by enemies, was not attacked once

Love the vids man. I must disagree with one thing. Luthor in my opinion is the better late game fighter lord and can become completely unstoppable by himself. But I agree Noctilus has the best start and best doomstack if you get an army of Necrofex. Continue the good work :)

Cylostra is not the worst one, especially thanks to the unique eternal (bretonnian knight) hero. I maneged to get him 95% physical and decent magical resistance with regeneration, because of this he can tank solo any hostile army.

didnt much mention that cylostra starts with an ethereal paladin hero in her army and she can summon ethereal knights of the realm which can easily take out a few enemy units, and her mount is way better than aranessa's.

I would say saltspite is worse than cylostra. The big reason for this is because aranessa isn't undead! Thus she can't regain hp from lore of vampire's!

true, plus cylostra gets a great buff to syreens, an excellent free summon, and also gets a rotting leviathan mount while aranessa only gets promethean.

I suggest taking a closer look at some lords abilities, because sometimes they can really change how the faction plays. For instance, Cylostra can really take advantage of the syreens in general thanks to specific buffs she gives, and that is something to take into account.

Noctilus is definitely strong and defensible but lemme tell ya as Fae Enchantress after getting harassed and repeatedly warred on and peaced out all game, finally getting together with the woodelves and sailing out to delete his fancy capitol with four massive armies was very satisfying.

personally I think cylostra should be second. Her syreen doomstack can be made early in the game and will have 90 physical resist. Have one army defend the starting area and a second setting up pirate coves to have mourngul hero stack. It's really fun.

The thing is, luthor harkon is basically a doomstack by himself once he gets a few lvls and his terrorgheist. Plus the awakening is a great start location and getting the bombardement ability for all lords is extremely powerful and he buffs some of the powder units. I do think she should be 3rd though, so before aranessa. Cylostra's free summon is really nice all through the game, plus she gets a great mount and lore of deeps, and as you said a nice buff to syreens. Aranessa just isn't that great, her mount is the worst of the 4 easily, and she can't be healed via nehek because of her not being undead, plus her unique units aren't that great. She's still a good lord, but they're all good.

Yea not getting that either because he skipped over her Brit Hero and Summons like they were not a big deal. Another thing is using the starting area as a grading curve is kind of bad for the Vampire Coast. Don't like your starting area just go take Galleon's Graveyard if your not playing Noctilus and raise dead on the way.

Count Noctilus might have the best magic line in the game. It is vampiric magic with Pit of Shades and the Lore of the Deep Raise the dead. I think that he also has Smoke & Mirrors? But having Wind of Death and Pit of Shades is awesome especially because the Vampire Coast don't have shadow mages. A shame that he has no skill to buff his magic (cooldown, winds cost reduction, etc. ...)

Really? Aranessa is probably tied with Tretch for worst lord in the entire game! Cylostra is definitely better. Yeah her starting position is brutal, but lore of the deeps is pretty good, she becomes a great fighter, and having a free unit of questing knights to summon in combat can turn the tide instantly in battle.

@Berserking Bishop I dunno, tretch is pretty bad. The thing is he's a non caster lord that kinda sucks in melee. Even some casters can beat him in melee, so his combat stat is trash.Most of the generic lords for skaven are more useful in a fight. He gets army/race buffs tied to breaking diplomancy, which makes some sense, but there's nothing help with reliability, so in reality it's normally worse for the campaign to use it because it just means even more people declaring war on you than normal. The extra ambush chance is always nice, but the vanguard is eh given the type of units skaven are strong with you normally don't want to start that close. I think they made him fairly well in terms of a lore perspective, but in terms of a gameplay perspective, not so much.

Count nauctilus deserves the number one slot. I absolutely love his starting location and his necrofex colossus mount. I make it my mission to take over lustria and ulthuan when I'm playing a dread fleet campaign.

i tried harkon endedup at war with 5lizardmen and chaos b-line for my cities lol. defended it all but didnt gain a new settlement for 100turns, rubbish combat lord too

More or less everybody agrees about the line up But i wanted to say something regarding Aranesa from my personal experience The fact is that real danger for her is not coming from the north from the dwarfs or empire or tillia or border prince In all of my experience it is the southern bretonnians that always harassing you from the sea The biggest problem for her is the fact that expanding with few armies when you have potential to get attacked from the rear is so damn painful But there is one more thing that i think you didn't mentioned in your video and that is the amazing landmark that aranesa have access to in her capital Once you building that light tower you are pretty much safe from any kind of sea invasion cuz you always see what is going on the seas

lol cylostra worse than aranessa? No. Shes better in literally every way, and her items are all better. Her unique units are better BY FAR, and her spellcasting is insane. Her campaign start is a smidge harder sometimes, but other times aranessa will get High Elf aggro and get absolutely shitstomped by their doomstacks by turn 30
